When schools closed, so did learning anything new. Along with the cancellation of all exams.
Any work sent from schools is not compulsory.
Schools were told this when they closed, and instead welfare of everyone hence the welfare calls.
All the information is online, and on the official government sites.
Parents are not teachers and are not expected to teach. Instead, we are asked to try and support them. The work isn't getting marked. There is nothing official for secondary schools, and most are taking the same route as primary. Not giving new work, marking etc.
Primary and younger it's about engaging with them just as you would do a bit of homework after school and to basically help relieve the boredom.
There is also the issue that not all students have access, and the laptops that are apparently getting sent out, won't be available until the end of June. Over a million students don't have access.
Personally, I would rather the laptops didn't go out and everyone waits until they reopen. The tax bill is going to already be astronomical. I'd rather buy a couple and give them to the school, will be cheaper in the long run. Or worse, the cost will come out of the school budget as they belong to schools, with a few exceptions.
The 4G devices that will also be sent out to get homes online, there is no clear info about who will pay for this. Many homes cannot afford it even with the recent benefit increase.
