I know these are difficult times but FFS Sainsburys! If I order a box of wine and it's not available, surely you should sub it for another box? Or perhaps 3 bottles so it's a similar amount. Not a single 18.7cl bottle. It's neither use nor ornament!

YABU!! Ffs people are dying and you and others are fretting and commenting on Sainsbury's etc substituting things you don't want.
Count yourself lucky OP that you've not lost a loved one to COVID19, Or you're not shielding and unable to leave the house and so having to rely on online shopping!
Get off your bum and go do your own shopping and leave the online slots for those that need them!

Seeing the one about ginger, I ordered ground ginger once and got about 6 huge pieces of fresh ginger. But I put it in the freezer and grate it frozen. It’s a keeper!

@Norma27....we need to swap details, I got a packet of french beans instead of cat food. One very hangry cat here..

@littlebirdieblue - you did not miss out; I purchased scones from Asda a couple of weeks ago - disgusting. I tried one, the chickens had the rest. They were supposed to be cherry and sultana - because I broke them up for the chickens, I was able to see that there was precisely ONE cherry in the eight scones.

cucumbers and courgettes can not be substituted
clearly - cucumber is great with gin and tonic.

Placed order with Tesco with lots of halal meat choices they then go and substitute frozen cheese pizza choice with the pepperoni one

My best one was when I ordered a toothpaste with ‘crystals’ and it was subbed for a non crystal toothpaste and bag of dishwasher salts, who knew that was the secret to whiter teeth!

Not much has made me chuckle these days but this has. I now avoid subs as it’s not worth the hassle unless it’s one I can specify exactly what I want instead like with Waitrose.

My last iffy sub was with my leg of lamb to eat on Easter Sunday.

It’s only my DS and I so wanted half a leg, and I know with the meats like that it’s not an exact price until the day they scan it. I asked for one between 1 and 1.5 kilos.. what showed up was a whole 3kilo leg of lamb but the cheeky moo on the phone was initially trying to tell me them are the rules and it’s only a guide probe, so I pointed out a half leg of lamb that was due to cost me no more than £9 and no more than 1.5 kilos is a not reasonable to plonk me with a whole 3kilo leg costing £20 as if I unlimited funds?!?! Anyhoo she said she would give it to me for £9 and refund me the rest... took us 2 days to eat it and not eaten lamb since

This weeks click and collect I ordered Purple sprouted broccoli and got a red cabbage instead.
Also in place of Rice cakes we got cream crackers.
The best sub a couple of weeks ago was in place of a 12 pack of Peroni lager we got an 18 pack - and the voucher for the difference.

@triciamac2000 I'm very sorry for anyone who has lost a loved one due to covid-19. But please don't make assumptions, you know nothing about me or my circumstances.

If a bit of banality has helped a few people get through another weekend of lockdown, I shan't apologise for starting the thread. Not that I ever expected it to get so many replies.

I ordered 3 tins of tesco baked beans - normal size ( 300g?) 3 for 75p. They send me four small tins of Heinz. Same price, but 1/3 of the amount of beans!! I wasn’t impressed, but it felt really churlish to complain.

You're probably right, I should have scrolled on by given my personal circumstances. Bit close to home this one today.

My store has seperate online deliveries for vulnerable people. Do get off your high horse. Not everything in life just now revolves around rending your garments in doom and gloom. Fun hasnt been outlawed yet.

I also once had lemon cif as substitute For two fresh lemons. Not what I wanted to put in my gin....

This week I ordered lamb cubes and they substituted it with beef mince 🤷🏻‍♀️

We once ordered basmati rice to find it replaces with Uncle Ben’s Golden Vegetable!

Years ago we did a big online shop with Tesco for a long weekend away with friends. They substituted a jar of pesto for half a dozen eggs.
