For me, it's 'and rightly so'. It sounds so bloody sanctimonious and grammatically it just feels wrong! 😡

OP posts:
SirDucky · 01/05/2020 11:57

Wow just wow

Boils my piss

Gives me the rage

Meh

MouthBreathingRage · 01/05/2020 11:57

Also

'A and E/Police NOW', on any thread that the op is dithering about whether it's an emergency or not.

VickyEadieofThigh · 01/05/2020 11:57

"Go for it" - usually when applied to doing a thing that needs extremely serious consideration before making the most sensible decision (which is not to do it.)

SirDucky · 01/05/2020 11:58

Also - You sound nice.

RhymingRabbit3 · 01/05/2020 12:00

Boils my piss" is vile and overused.
Agreed

I also don't like "naice"

NotACleverName · 01/05/2020 12:00

'Cockwomble' and other equally prissy insults. Someone on here recently referred to their husband as a 'wankpuffin'! Are they too afraid to swear?!

These as well. People (in general, not just on MN) who use these twee swear words like to think they're better than those who use terms like 'holibobs' and 'famalam', when the reality is they're two cheeks of the same arse.

Toilenstripes · 01/05/2020 12:03

Fanny gallops
Boils my piss
Fucked off
On the boob

SeasideArms · 01/05/2020 12:05

Totally agree with pps who mentioned 'boils my piss' It is vile, vulgar, unnecessary - I hate it!

I also dislike when people say they 'pulled someone up on it' or the like. Who the hell do they think they are? By all means discuss with someone, challenge if necessary, but no, you do not have the right to 'pull someone up'.

BritWifeinUSA · 01/05/2020 12:08

The over-usage and constant armchair diagnoses of “gaslighting”. Telling someone they’ve put on weight is not gaslighting. Disagreeing with someone’s opinion is not gaslighting. And many other examples.

Not really a phrase but the advice to “bulk it up with lentils” makes me feel queasy. It comes up multiple times on a thread where people ask for help to cut their grocery spending or for some cheap meal ideas.

FrameByFrame · 01/05/2020 12:08

Since lockdown, I've noticed the phrase "we live rural" pops up all the time. Not only is it grammatically incorrect, but it also tends to be used in a slightly smug way which I find a bit grating.

Msloverlover · 01/05/2020 12:08

“My oh would never dream of/ wouldn’t dare..” in response to some desperate woman’s post about her shitty relationship.

Even worse the responses to above post that go something like, “My oh brings me breakfast in bed, gives me a full body massage and sorts the kids out so I can have a lie in EVERY MORNING”.

Oh also fk and st and b**s

BettyUnderswoob · 01/05/2020 12:09

...the reality is they're two cheeks of the same arse

Now this phrase I do like! 😂

namechangetheworld · 01/05/2020 12:10

'Vanishingly small'.

I'm sure it's not Mumsnet specific, but I see it all of the time on here and loathe it.

EatsShootsAndRuns · 01/05/2020 12:10

”He's a good dad” after a totally justified rant about a lazy/nasty man’s behaviour or attitude towards their children.

Msloverlover · 01/05/2020 12:11

@BritWifeinUSA after having made a lasagne with lentils I have to agree. Bulk anything up with lentils = make something tasty into bland stodge. Love a dhaal, am not averse to lentils but don’t just chuck them in anything vaguely sloppy.

MouthBreathingRage · 01/05/2020 12:11

'He's telling you who he is, you just need to listen'.

Maybe I need to stop reading MN (or some people need to stop reading wanky self help books).

Msloverlover · 01/05/2020 12:12

@namechangetheworld what does that even mean?

Boireannachlaidir · 01/05/2020 12:14

All of these plus this:

TL;DR - only when it's posted at the bottom of a bloody post. What's the fucking point if people have got that far down already...Angry

Pomegranatemolasses · 01/05/2020 12:15

'Showed this to DH, and he said blah blah blah'...

As though he's part of the oracles of Delphi.

OxanaVorontsova · 01/05/2020 12:16

'Didn't want to read and run' followed by saying absolutely nothing useful

EarlGreyT · 01/05/2020 12:17

“Wow, just wow”

“Did you mean to be so rude?”

“Are you on glue?”

“Tinkly little laugh”

“Boils my piss”

“No is a complete sentence”

“NC for this, but long term poster- penis beaker, Mexican house thief, snapped and farted, screamed at the cisteine”

EarlGreyT · 01/05/2020 12:18

*sistine even

charlestonchaplin · 01/05/2020 12:18

Dementor

AvoidingTheWineAisle · 01/05/2020 12:18

I can’t agree with a few of these.

‘Naice’ is a classic MN word. Don’t knock the traditions! Grin.

And African-Americans getting ‘Woke’ to systematic oppression is one thing, and I respect that. But what else do you call the Owen Joneses of this world, who want to virtual signal off the back of every single oppressed group’s struggle or perceived struggle? Woke dude bros are a THING, I tell ya!

Agree re: boobing, giving your head a wobble and ‘but he’s a good Dad, even though he’s a useless, work shy, abusive manchild’

MouthBreathingRage · 01/05/2020 12:18

“NC for this, but long term poster- penis beaker, Mexican house thief, snapped and farted, screamed at the cisteine”

Ah yes, because there's nothing more convincing that you're not a troll than reeling off the most known MN troll threads....
