I honestly don't know. Possibly a beach in Bali.

This is something that took my breath away.

We flew over New York on a very clear day once on the way to Florida. I've been to NY and love it but there was something extra magical about seeing it all from the air. It looked so small and the buildings all looked compact.

Corey Lake, Camp Eberhart, Michigan

The Grand Canyon.
Been to Niagra Falls which was good but not as spectacular as the GC which IMHO is truly awesome.

The first time I saw Table Mountain
Cruising into Kotor Montenegro

JoysOfString · 30/04/2020 17:17

The view of the Isle of Man from the top of a mountain in the Lake district - I thought the horizon was much lower down, then I spotted this giant hazy island that seemed to be in the sky, it was breathtaking.

Mount Arenal erupting at night, about 3 miles away from where I was. Feel so lucky to have seen a volcanic eruption up close, and it wasn't dangerous so you could just sit and enjoy it. It made an amazing noise too.

Niagara Falls is mindblowing, such a cliche but it is.

Sidge · 30/04/2020 17:23

@Nosuchluck I agree, we cruised into Kotor at dawn and it took my breath away. Stunning.

I also loved the Grand Canyon, flying over to Key West and St Brelade’s Bay, Jersey.

Vegas strip! Photo doesn’t do it justice but it was amazing!

Glencoe, even more amazing on a sunny day.

Sicario · 30/04/2020 17:43

Sitting on a beach one night and turtles start hatching out of the sand. Absolutely bloody mental.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 30/04/2020 17:43

I've not read every page but this has probably already been said : the Taj Mahal at dawn . I got choked up .... and I am the least sentimental person you could ever meet !
Its magical

TiddlestheCat · 30/04/2020 17:44

Oh, what a lovely post!
I can't pick just one.
Long Beach/Tofino in Canada, flown over in a float plane
World's End in Sri Lanka
Tresco, Scilly Isles
Flying over/descending into French Polynesia
The Bluebell/wild garlic woods just up the road from me (the blooms are spectacular this year).

iklboo · 30/04/2020 17:45

Norway on a cruise. We sailed in overnight and when I woke up and opened the curtains there was the most magnificent mountain and waterfall in the fjord. Took my breath away.

Petrarkanian · 30/04/2020 17:45

Total eclipse, Kentucky 2017.

rosiethehen · 30/04/2020 17:46

Driving through Glencoe.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who's added about 10 million 'must sees' for my list for future trips and holidays after reading this thread?!

bettybattenburg · 30/04/2020 18:00

Being able to see the South Island coast to coast, the beaches and mountains in one view on a crystal clear day.

Yes! And I agree that the Norwegian fjords have nothing on the South Island.

West coast of Ireland
Isola Bella on Lake Maggiore
Palazzo Pfanner garden, Lucca
the woodland banks near our house - full of beautiful wild flowers - violets, wild strawberry, wild garlic.

staceyflack · 30/04/2020 18:05

Blue Mountains Australia 😍

alltoomuchrightnow · 30/04/2020 18:35

without a doubt, Glacier Point in Yosemite and I do think that's unbeatable. Flying into Manhattan and seeing the Twin Towers in the 90s was amazing though

alltoomuchrightnow · 30/04/2020 18:37

The Quirang in Skye with a rainbow over it should also be mentioned. Most of Skye.
Around the Meteor Crater in Arizona in a huge thunderstorm
Death Valley on a summer's evening (height of summer)
Monument Valley
Bryce Canyon
Mono Lake

I live on the west coast of Scotland, so have pretty amazing views most of the time. However, the NE coast from North Berwick to Whitley Bay is stunning too, my favourite being Bamburgh.

I think one of my favourites from abroad is when we were in Malaysia and stayed in Pangkor Laut. Absolutely stunning sunset. There's quite a few but that one is still in my head.

SamanthaJayne4 · 30/04/2020 18:48

I'm usually fairly unimpressed but the Amalfi coast drive was really beautiful. Also like the highlands of Scotland. Such lovely fresh air.
