My current house is not named however I used to live in “The Pixie Pad”

Littleshortcake · 29/04/2020 00:23

Has someone really called their house nice house ? We are considering options for naming our house at the moment. We have the Laurels on a neighbouring street. Lake View (we are near a lake Hmm )

Littleshortcake · 29/04/2020 00:24

We have yet to name ours though

MaybeMaybeNotJ · 29/04/2020 00:24

My old one we named Wonky Cottage
Nothing was straight 😂

19lottie82 · 29/04/2020 00:25

Naming your house is really wanky. Sorry.

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 29/04/2020 00:25

You're asking for posters' addresses on an anonymous forum?

Hmm
RainbowMum11 · 29/04/2020 00:26

Tipsy Cottage Wink

GiveUsACoffee · 29/04/2020 00:26

There's a house in a nearby village called Broccoli Bottom...we always have a giggle as we drive past. And it's a lovely house

PickAChew · 29/04/2020 00:27

It doesn't have one but there are 3 number 8s and all of those have pretty bland names like Calcott and other such meaningless tripe.

Wagsandclaws · 29/04/2020 00:27

No numbers on my very rural road so we had to name it ( newly built barn conversion ).

Foxes Hollow ... lots of them about just outside our immediate area though. I like it Smile

Littleshortcake · 29/04/2020 00:28

It's might be a bit wanky but it's nice in country areas. Where we live I think house suit names.

GoFiguire · 29/04/2020 00:28

There’s a widower down the road and his house is called Dunerin.

BackseatCookers · 29/04/2020 00:29

I'm hoping a MNetter at some point names theirs 'Naice House'.

Shmithecat2 · 29/04/2020 00:29

Current house - no.883
Hopeful new house after all this COVID19 business calms down enough - Birch House.

HillieBoliday · 29/04/2020 00:30

Do the other houses on your road have numbers?
Because if they do, no one is going to refer to your house as Lavender Cottage or whatever.

It’s very Hyacinth, sorry.

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/04/2020 00:31

The dog house lol

Murinae · 29/04/2020 00:31

Ours is called “by the stream” in Welsh and yes we have a stream in the garden.

IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0 · 29/04/2020 00:36

If it is a home for life, how about "Dun Roamen" ?

BlessedAreTheCheesemakerz · 29/04/2020 00:45

We're not posh enough to have a house with a name, but my favourite is a house in the town of Much Wenlock, called Bastard Hall.

user1473878824 · 29/04/2020 00:48

My mother has a beautiful little house name sign bought for her by friends that she’s waiting to have attached to the wall. It was so kind of them, she’s always called the house by the name so they decided to give her a gift. It says “The Hovel” and it’ll go naicely by the plastic front door she’s hated for 20 years.

starfishmummy · 29/04/2020 00:50

I did digging in old street directories and our house was originally St Elmo when it was built. Numbers came later.

theneighbourswindchime · 29/04/2020 00:51

There's a house near me, very posh, called "Little Buntings" - I love it!

user1473878824 · 29/04/2020 00:53

@PerditaProvokesEnmity Well as soon as someone replies with a post that just says “The Elms” I’m sure we’ll all know exactly where they live and can all burgle them.

ScotInExile · 29/04/2020 00:53

How is naming your house wanky? We built a house years ago on a country road that had no other houses so no house numbers, we were told we had to name it so the Post Office would know where to deliver mail.

I now live in a row of 7 terraced cottages that are 130 years old and each have their own name. Ours is called St Elmo, though we have street numbers here now so the house hasn't been referred to by it's name in a very long time. It's just part of the interesting history of the area.

MrsIronfoundersson · 29/04/2020 00:54

We now have a number but when the house was built in 1882 it was called 'Brookside' - not using that.
