To ask what your houses name is?

Cunt-faced Money Pit.

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 30/04/2020 11:01

Oh god, Hinge I remember that feeling! Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 30/04/2020 11:17

My house is unofficially named Pondicherry Lodge. After one of the Sherlock Holmes stories. And because Pondicherry is such a lovely word!

Truthpact · 30/04/2020 11:17

I really hope none of you are giving the actual names of your homes.

Just anyone could easily find where op is now by checking all of the addresses where those houses are, and find one that matches amongst most of them. There's a lot of stalkers online, also paedophiles. Doesn't take a genius to figure out that most women on here probably have kids..

Think this thread should be removed and anyone who has put up their actual house name, I'd advise you change your name now. This is just a security nightmare.

GoFiguire · 30/04/2020 11:23

Quite agree, because I know exactly where one of the houses listed on here is.

Truthpact · 30/04/2020 11:28

Quite agree, because I know exactly where one of the houses listed on here is.

I don't even need to live in the area and could find where everyone lives. Then could find out their real life names, then find them on FB, Instagram, twitter etc, probably find their email addresses.

You've no idea how easy it would be. Would take half an hour, if that. All because of a house name.

Shall we just answer questions like 'find out your stripper name by telling me your first pets name, your mums maiden name and the first line of your address' too? Grin

vanillandhoney · 30/04/2020 11:30

Why are people giving away their house names on the internet? Hmm

Truthpact · 30/04/2020 11:30

By the way, for those who don't know, questions like the one I asked about the stripper are looking for the answers to your secret questions. See them a lot on FB etc. You've then just given them the security questions to your bank account or wherever you use them. 🤷‍♀️

Simple phishing attack. Many fall for it. This thread could be a phishing attack.

I live in a row of houses that were built in 1920 and every single one has a name. I love our name (Sunnyside) and most were built with beautiful old gate posts that had the names carved in to them. Sadly they’ve mostly been knocked down which I think is such a shame :(
others along the street have similar names but they don’t often get used for postal purposes as they don’t often show up on the postal databases. I always find this a shame as well.
I don’t find it wanky unless it’s a name like Dunroamin. Always reminds me of a Noel Streatfield book, for some reason!

mollibu · 30/04/2020 12:50

Robin Hood Cottage over here Grin

Spidey66 · 30/04/2020 12:51

It just has a number.

30daysoflight · 30/04/2020 13:05

Pwp Bach Wink

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 30/04/2020 13:09

When the house was built it had a name but that was replaced by a bog standard number at some point.
The houses that have kept the stained glass above the door have the name there but ours is long gone

Abcduck · 30/04/2020 13:12

I saw Rose Cottage that looked like a fairytale cottage.

Why are people giving away their house names on the internet?

Because they can name change, its all made up, its a secret name, a common name. It

user1471506482 · 30/04/2020 13:14

I did a paper round as a teenager and two houses always made laugh. They were called "Serendipity" and "Salmon Leap" Grin

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 30/04/2020 13:21

My house doesn't have a name but when DS2 was small he used to tell people we lived at "Ice-Cream House" (number 99). Ex MIL always told him that was nonsense because 99 is a brand of tea-bag so it should be tea-house Hmm

(And I'm aware it is a brand of tea bag but he was 3 years old ffs)

funinthesun19 · 30/04/2020 13:21

Little council house

Fromthebirdsnest · 30/04/2020 13:22

I have a house name ... Im obviously not going to post it online 😂, as it's obviously identifying and if someone local we have all named houses by us they would obviously say oh hello Carol "I'm not carol" 😂. If you want to name your house and it's historic then if it's been used for something else consider naming in.that view such as the vicarage etc or you can look up the family that first lived there and name it after them .. X

PrincessButtockUp · 30/04/2020 13:35

We live in a Victorian semi that was originally built as one of four houses for staff working in the village bakery which was just the other side of the road. In our local library is a book of old photos and the only child who gets a name check in the school photo is described as living at "1, Baker's Cottages" which is our house. So I'll be dammed if I'm changing our house name now, even though we are not number 1 according to Royal Mail. What do they know, they think we are in a different county just because the sorting office is over the border.

Blackandgreenteas · 30/04/2020 15:22

Our house is not named. I think it’s wanky if the house “should” be a number in a street, I.e. there’s a number each side of it.

When we moved in my son unofficially called it “Betsy 2” but that’s not on the house or anything.

Darbs76 · 30/04/2020 15:27

I used to love the fact Cilla Black’s Spanish villa was called Casa Roll

nauseaandnipples · 30/04/2020 16:37

I want to call ours 'Cairnhill' but my husband thinks we'll look like twats.

NegativeNellyy · 30/04/2020 21:17

Ok just to clarify! Our street has tons of houses with names. Ours is 21. No name, we are the only house with no name.

@Gumdrops9000 stay vague but do you live near Betws? I love the fact they use it for directions
