Aibu regarding Fleetwood Mac

This is terribly trivial, I am aware.
I was watching Peter Kay's Car Share and there was a part where Peter Kay's character said that the Fleetwood Mac version of Dreams was better than The Coors version. This is one of my all time favourite songs and personally think The Coors butchered it, however my sister said The Coors version is better.
AIBU to say Fleetwood Mac's original is far better than The Coors version.

And I forgot the carnage that Cher perpetrated on Marc Cohn's Walking in Memphis

There's a bunfight to be had. Really shit songs that could never be improved by anyone.

Trivia fact. I saw Marc Cohen supporting Stevie Nicks at Wembley in 1991 ...

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 29/04/2020 16:58

Cher was the original vocal on Alfie. Cilla was the cover.

As Michael Caine would(n't) say, Not a lot of people know that.

Tracey Thorn blows them both away.

CallmeBadJanet · 29/04/2020 17:28

Stevie Nicks kicks Corr butts! The 'Mac every time!

JillBob · 29/04/2020 17:31

Fleetwood Mac version is far superior and Stevie Nicks singing it gives the heart and soul behind it

iklboo · 29/04/2020 17:32

Fleetwood Mac to the ends of the earth and back again.

Someone should go back in time and stop Boyzone murdering covering Baby Can I Hold You Tonight.

BovaryX · 29/04/2020 17:35

Neither. The best version is Deep Dish featuring Stevie Nicks......

Oscarsdaddy · 29/04/2020 17:37

OMG

Fleetwood Mac are absolute genius. The Corrs are not fit to clean their boots

fishonabicycle · 29/04/2020 17:43

You are definitely right.

BikeRunSki · 29/04/2020 17:44

Fleetwood Mac

There are very few songs where covers are better than the original.

mammmamia · 29/04/2020 17:44

I can’t believe the Corrs and FM are being mentioned in the same sentence. I love Stevie Nicks. Andrea Corr has a nice voice and is pretty but can’t compare

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 29/04/2020 17:53

This is indeed a "Can you tell shit from sugar?" thread.

roxanne119 · 29/04/2020 17:54

Oh dear god fleetwood mac everytime

TruJay · 29/04/2020 17:58

God I love Fleetwood Mac, my uncle gave me a walkman and some albums (FM was amongst them) when I was 7 and I've been obsessed ever since.

@Lifeasweknow NOONE should cover anything by Tracy Chapman! Her version of Baby can I hold you is sublime. The recent cover of Fast car disturbs me!

DGRossetti · 29/04/2020 17:58

There are very few songs where covers are better than the original.

Although I suspect Bob Dylan made it a career goal ...

TruJay · 29/04/2020 17:59

@TheSkyWasDark YES! I love her version. Love Cher.

Bozlem80 · 29/04/2020 18:00

Fleetwood Mac every time, my kids roll their eyes at me because they love a song/tune that’s been ripped off from a classic song/tune yrs ago, Tracy Chapman cars is one of them & didn’t believe me it’s an ‘old’ song!

allanaw929 · 29/04/2020 18:01

@LaureBerthaud You're right, Stevie Nicks has a beautiful voice, especially in this track, but personally I find the backing singers in this song to be totally off-putting and they kinda ruin the effect for me. Can't remember ever hearing a Coors version although I'm sure I have.
OP, completely agree about the Tracy Chapman track, the boyzone cover was awful and a complete travesty in my opinion.

DetroitTheTourist · 29/04/2020 18:05

Fleetwood Mac over Coors any day. But Hendrix's all along the watchtower over Bob Dylan's, csny Woodstock over Joni's original (sorry Joni), nazereths This Flight tonight is better than Joni's too. Only Kate bush should ever do this woman's work. And the worst thing i ever heard was Bieber butchering fast car.

BikeRunSki · 29/04/2020 18:05

The DC have had a listen to both, and both voted for Stevie. They have taste.

iklboo · 29/04/2020 18:22

Weirdly, Madness' version of It Must Be Love over Labi Siffri

Elbow's version of Golden Slumbers over The Beatles

INXS original version of Never Tear Us Apart over Paloma Faith's cover.

Ckzoaa · 29/04/2020 18:24

Always fleetwood mac! And now I have to go and listen to it.....

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 29/04/2020 18:24

I think Rumours is just one of those albums that no other artist can touch in general.

JamieLeeCurtains · 29/04/2020 18:35

Oh wow just listened to Nazareth! Awesome. Such memories.

DetroitTheTourist · 29/04/2020 18:41

Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac is far greater than the Nicks incarnation. Man of the World is greater than Dreams. Peter was hot. Lindsay Buckingham is not as good a guitarist as he thinks he is.

TheCanterburyWhales · 29/04/2020 18:46

I'm still going to be Stevie Nicks when I grow up. But with frizz-ease and less sex.

I prefer Ann Wilson's Stairway to Heaven to LZ's. And they weren't half-impressed either. Watch the YouTube vid- an Obama thingy.
