Aibu regarding Fleetwood Mac

This is terribly trivial, I am aware.
I was watching Peter Kay's Car Share and there was a part where Peter Kay's character said that the Fleetwood Mac version of Dreams was better than The Coors version. This is one of my all time favourite songs and personally think The Coors butchered it, however my sister said The Coors version is better.
AIBU to say Fleetwood Mac's original is far better than The Coors version.

But I do love Lindsey Buckingham, he’s a god

Me too Blush although I also imagine he is serious hard work.

No one seems to have covered any of his solo stuff, although it IS a bit niche 😂

JamieLeeCurtains · 28/04/2020 18:33

Did I dream it or did Telly Savalas do a cover of If??

If he didnt, he should have done.

bruffin · 28/04/2020 19:01

He did Jamieleecurtains, remember it on TOTP

Butterbeaninjeans · 28/04/2020 19:48

I agree the earlier Fleetwood Mac soooo much better. Couldn't stand the song big love but then heard it live and it was bloody amazing.

LaureBerthaud · 28/04/2020 20:04

I love Neil Finn but the presence of him and Mike Campbell turned FM into a tribute band. I agree Lindsay Buckingham is probably hard work but I'd love the Rumours 5 to kiss and make up for one last cash grab tour.t

I do love the fact that Stevie and Christine are still touring aged 71 and 76 respectively.

Jellykat · 28/04/2020 20:18

Fleetwood Mac all the way, i can't stand The Corrs

LettyBriggs · 28/04/2020 20:45

I don’t dislike covers, I thought John Mayer did Tom Petty’s Free Fallin’ justice. I love the original too.

I saw Fleetwood Mac live at Wembley last year and they are truly phenomenal. I love all the documentaries about the , especially when they cover the Rumours era.

Just leaving this here.

DodgyTrousers · 29/04/2020 07:44

Absolutely agree Fleetwood Mac's original version is better than the Corrs

LaureBerthaud · 29/04/2020 08:48

Stevie Nicks has said she was mortified when the photographer said "I'm going to take your blouse now." When she demurred Lindsay snapped "It's art". It was for the cover of their first album as the Buckingham Nicks duo so she had little power but since then she's never allowed herself to be exploited in that way again.

CaroleFuckinBaskin · 29/04/2020 09:23

Lindsey really was sex on a stick back in the day wasn't he? A bit of a knobhead though which always spoils it somewhat!

Plurabellicose · 29/04/2020 09:54

Absolutely to both statements.

LaureBerthaud · 29/04/2020 10:41

And Stevie Nicks was exquisite

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 29/04/2020 10:49

Hands up who thought Lindsey was the girl and Stevie the boy?

randomer · 29/04/2020 11:40

LOl at the knobhead/sex on a stick comment.

Seems like an utter prat tbh , reminds me of a sibling.

Honeyroar · 29/04/2020 12:17

Sex on a stick? Is that him in the photo? I see moobs! I wouldn’t have recognised Stevie in the dark haired pic, she looks so gorgeous.

I always liked them, but could never love them due to the attitude and rows.

Brefugee · 29/04/2020 12:37

@LaureBerthaud thanks for the summary about the FM as their own cover band (that's how i feel about Queen with Adam Lambert but that doesn't stop me going to see them)

I still stand by my Thunder comment. However i have to come clean and say that since the bloody Stones ruined my favourite festival they can fuck the fuck off. They haven't done anything good since Some Girls...

Covers... there is no way on this earth that anyone has ever improved on a Tom Petty (with or without the Heartbreakers) song. Not ever. Fact. (and as we know, use of that word ends the discussion in my favour).

I really like A Day To Remember (shouty band) cover of Kelly Clarkson's (i think) Since You've Been Gone. Including the breakdown in the middle (my DC tell me that's what it's called)

Also Neck Deep did a great version of Torn.

What is never, ever, an improvement on the original are slwoed-down breathless asmhatic squeaky girlie nouvelle-vague covers of anything.

Yes. What is that all about? it gives me The Rage.

LynseyLou1982 · 29/04/2020 12:59

Good God not The Coors version. Fleetwood Mac always.

Alicesweewonders · 29/04/2020 13:13

I actually like both.

CaroleFuckinBaskin · 29/04/2020 13:19

Sex on a stick? Is that him in the photo? I see moobs!

Yes I agree there is a hint of moob in that photo but come on, he was beautiful! He carried off that hair and tache like no other man could.

The thing that kind of made me laugh about Fleetwood Mac was also how 'cool and American' Linsdey and Stevie were compared to the others Brits.

And while 'Don't Stop' is a great song, for a long time I thought it was Status Quo, not Fleetwood Mac!

Go Your Own Way and The Chain have to be their best songs, no?

bluedelphinium · 29/04/2020 13:31

Also notable as an example of the Corrs' breathy murdering is 'Pale Blue Eyes'

OldBean2 · 29/04/2020 13:43

Argh, The Corrs and Bono destroying Summer Wine... nowhere near the chemistry of Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra. But then Sinead O'Connor outperforming Prince with her version of Nothing compares to You.

And frankly, always Fleetwood Mac, always.

Honeyroar · 29/04/2020 13:45

@CaroleFuckinBaskin ok I’ve had a google of some old photos and he was pretty hot underneath all that hair. Amazing eyes.

OldBean2 · 29/04/2020 13:48

And I forgot the carnage that Cher perpetrated on Marc Cohn's Walking in Memphis

TheSkyWasDark · 29/04/2020 13:51

I like Cher's version of Walking in Memphis!
