Hot tubs

AIBU to think that all of my friends might think we’re swingers if we purchase a Lay Z Spa hot tub for the Summer? I’ve suddenly become obsessed with finding one online and can’t think of anything better than jumping into a giant bubbly lilo thing at the end of each day (my search is somewhat fruitless so far, as the whole of the UK seems to have sold out!).
However, will we be ‘judged’ by our friends and neighbours for our rash decision?

OP posts:
ComtesseDeSpair · 27/04/2020 18:11

I have a hot tub, as so many of our friends.

We are actually swingers, though.

Ponoka7 · 27/04/2020 18:12

I've never known anyone in RL to have that pov. From what I see on FB, everyone is getting them.

Silenceisnotgolden · 27/04/2020 18:13

We have one and we’re certainly not swingers but do jacuze (is that a verb?!) naked in our garden without caring one jot what our neighbours think.

opticaldelusion · 27/04/2020 18:13

If you want to catch chlamydia from a luke-warm outdoors sex pond that annoys the fuck out of your neighbours, crack on.

ComtesseDeSpair · 27/04/2020 18:14

Seriously though, I have no idea if our neighbours know this or assume that only swingers have hot tubs.

But if everywhere is currently sold out then this would suggest that either a) more people in the UK are swingers than anyone had ever currently thought, thus surely no judgement; or b) lots of people who are not swingers have hot tubs and you’ll therefore be fine, no judgement.

Choose your own adventure.

Thighmageddon · 27/04/2020 18:14

Our neighbours have one, we always sigh when they fire up the sex pond.

GreyGardens88 · 27/04/2020 18:15

Owning a hot tub increases your chances of being accepted onto Come Dine With Me by 1000%

Twofurrycatsagain · 27/04/2020 18:17

Next door have just got one. They've not asked us to nip round for any swinging. Maybe they're waiting for social distancing to be relaxed.

I do! I really do! On all counts!! Of course I'll have to find somebody who has chlamydia first, so I'll have to put a shout out on FB.

Mummyshark2018 · 27/04/2020 18:19

Op I ordered one last Thursday from Homebase having searched for weeks on different sites. Was due to be delivered but they emailed me to say that as they're opening up stores we can collect this week. I've never had much desire to have one but it's likely our holiday will be cancelled in the summer so it will keep us all entertained.

Apirateslifeforme · 27/04/2020 18:19

I know a lot of other people with layz spa who are not swingers, and neither are we.

Doesnt mean you have to annoy the fuck out of your neighbours either as they're not particularly loud. The bubbles can be, but for the amount we use the bubbles, I cant see our noise being any worse than any of the neighbours.

They're nice to have in the garden.

During the warm days we have a temperature of 32-34degress. And turn it up to 40 if we intend on going in in the evening with a few drinks.

Doggybiccys · 27/04/2020 18:24

Sounds like you’d love it OP. We had ours on at new year one year and it was fab. We’ve got a very secluded part of the garden so we can’t be seen or heard. I will admit to attempting sex in it when we first got it for the novelty but the water splashed about so much and we couldn’t get the rythmn right so we abandoned it and haven’t tried again!! But I love it - also a lazy Spa. You do need to maintain it with chemicals and a thing to hoover up sediment - But DH does all that.

Twigletmama · 27/04/2020 18:30

We have a hot tub. A jacuzzi not an inflatable one. We almost didn't get it due to worries that people would judge us for exactly the reasons listed above but I'm so glad we went for it . The kids absolutely love it and it's so nice to relax in, with a glass of wine once they are in bed. It's extremely clean and we have never had, or intend to have sex in it! I would definitely recommend.

Since the OP can't invite a load of randomers round to shag in her hot tub, I doubt that will be a concern.

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/04/2020 18:38

We have one, we’re loving it so far!
As neither DH nor I have chlamydia I’m pretty sure we’re safe on that front. We only have one set of neighbours, who are also friends of ours and not complete joy suckers, and they said it looked like great fun and might get one themselves.
Haven’t had sex in it either.

Itsjustmee · 27/04/2020 18:38

I have a proper jacuzzi
The kids use it more than we do
I can’t remember if we have had sex in it though

TMI.

Goggle1968 · 27/04/2020 18:43

Love ours. Get one.

ivfbabymomma1 · 27/04/2020 18:46

We have a layz spa miami

We aren't swingers

We haven't had sex in it

Maybe we are boring? 😂

Numptywallice · 27/04/2020 18:50

We have one. Not swingers.husband brought it for me as I have chronic pain health issues and helps take weight off my joints. Couldn’t care less what people think about them although, two neighbours have just got one too.

Lailaloo747 · 27/04/2020 18:53

We have a jacuzzi and we love it! Couldn’t give a shit what other people think of us for having one either! Although we have no neighbours...so it can’t annoy anyone Grin

fee1234 · 27/04/2020 19:00

Just got a lay z spa last week! We've been in it sometimes twice a day, and it's amazing. I'm 26 weeks pregnant with a lot of pelvic pain and it works wonders for that, and I sleep so well afterwards. I make the temp about 35 - 36 degrees so it's just perfect for me.

TheyAreDefinitelySwingers · 27/04/2020 19:01

Our neighbours have one.

I'm not saying they are swingers but they used to have pampas grass in their front garden and I'm sure I've seen a bowl of keys in their hallway.

We've been invited to a "post lockdown pool party"

No f***g way.

Bloody disturbing.

Will nobody think of the traumatised next door neighbours? Grin

Silvercatowner · 27/04/2020 19:04

Urrgh our neighbours have a hot tub and my garden often stinks of chlorine.

Bluewavescrashing · 27/04/2020 19:08

I've always wondered about inflatable hot tubs. Paddling pools inevitably get a puncture after a few weeks. Doesn't this happen with a lay z spa? £300 ish is quite a lot to spend if it might suddenly go pop.
