Hot tubs

AIBU to think that all of my friends might think we’re swingers if we purchase a Lay Z Spa hot tub for the Summer? I’ve suddenly become obsessed with finding one online and can’t think of anything better than jumping into a giant bubbly lilo thing at the end of each day (my search is somewhat fruitless so far, as the whole of the UK seems to have sold out!).
However, will we be ‘judged’ by our friends and neighbours for our rash decision?

Ours is hardwired.
It’s a vitality, so big enough to move around and stretch a bit but not for swimming lengths. Brilliant for bad backs, aching muscles, stress, family disputes and insomnia. Also surprisingly good for cardiovascular health and reduces hypertension. Reduces risk of serious problems like stroke as one ages.
Perfect health giving combination is regular cold water swimming balanced with hot water immersion. Cures all ills (nearly).

Oh all you sneerers are so amusing. Ever used a pool hotel? They are full of kids piss!

Enjoy it! We have a 6 seater hot tub which I go in every other night or so. I wait until its dusk, take a drink and a book and get the hot jets onto my muscles. I certainly sleep better after. Its kept immaculate, water chemistry is done weekly and total water change every 3 months. Its very unlike bath due to the intense filtration system, anti-bac surfaces and pipes.

Love my dirty sex pond LOL.
No one goes in it apart from me and the DC. It is super relaxing-went in the other day after a hard afternoons gardening and relaxed with a G&T while dinner was cooking.
If you use the chemicals properly hygiene is not a problem.
It's a great lockdown purchase although I got mine a few years ago. Now on second one as the tub punctured and the repair patches wouldn't stick on.

Those who read in hot tubs - doesn't the book get soggy?

Drivingdownthe101 · 03/05/2020 22:45

You don’t put the books under the water, obviously Grin

SerenDippitty · 03/05/2020 22:56

I know that, obviously, but with the steam and moisture in the air when you have the jets going.

YourVagesty · 03/05/2020 23:07

My sex pond is the best thing I've ever bought.

Highly recommend.

We have one, bought it 6 years ago when we did the garden. Generally have it on the go from may to September, started easter weekend this year as the weather was nice and gave us something to do. I don't tend to put the bubbles on if I use it at night as I feel self conscious and not sure how far the sound travels. The kids probably go in 3-4 × per week. I make sure someone has been in it once a day as I feel I'm running it for nothing otherwise and it's not cheap.
Its lovely to have a nice hot soak at the end of the day, go for it! Oh, we have a lazy spa vegas.

You’ll need a net to fish out all the clingers

Brigante9 · 04/05/2020 00:02

Do piss off, all you naysayers about chavvy sex ponds, such a mumsnet cliché! Never have, never will have sex in it, I have a nice private house for that. Ours is a 7 seater, it’s silent running. We use it to relax, talk, flotation tank, to look at stars and satellites, planes. Only my DH and I ever go in it.

Same brigante. Spent most of weekend in ours. Bliss especially at the moment.

We've got an Intex inflatable hot tub and love it. We both suffer with back problems and it definitely helps.

We worked out it's costing us approx £1.50 a day to run. We only really use it at the weekend though.

We keep it ticking over at 34 degrees when we're not using it and turn it up to 40 a few hours before going in as it heats at about 2 degrees per hour.

Maintenance is dead simple. We put a slow release chlorine tablet in a floating dispenser and occasionally have to put some granules in to adjust the ph. The control unit tells us when the filter needs changing when is about every 10 days-2 weeks depending on usage.
