Posting here simply as I don't know if voting can be enabled outside AIBU.

Vote yes- You would support further lockdown of this extent
Vote no- You would not support a lockdown of this extent after the current lockdown period

Personally, I would be happy for restrictions to slowly be lifted after this. Amongst my friends, I feel I am in the majority.

Do we really think this will be over in 2 weeks? Wow

CoronaMoaner · 25/04/2020 18:06

I would support another 3 weeks.
After that I think my mental health and that of my children would be suffering.

southeastdweller · 25/04/2020 18:06

I would keep it as it is but enable companies who cannot wfh to social distance and open.

Which is the case presently.

araiwa · 25/04/2020 18:07

We have worse restrictions and nowhere near uk numbers for deaths and cases

AnneOfTeenFables · 25/04/2020 18:08

Yy I'd support a further lockdown and everyone I know thinks the same.

laidbacklife · 25/04/2020 18:09

Nope, I definitely would not support a further lockdown. We risk creating more problems than we are solving.

Bargainhuntbore · 25/04/2020 18:09

No more lockdown. Restrictions but not lockdown.

Restaurants and pubs? Pubs only NO. Eating establishments YES. Limit tables. Lots of spaces. Make it known you have a drink and a meal then you leave. No dithering.

Garden centres YES. Queuing system, no dithering though. Go in, knowing what you want and leave.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 25/04/2020 18:09

Yes, but we need to have separate treatment centres for Covid patients, so our hospitals can get back to treating other illnesses. We also need to stop people coming into the country with no forced quarantine. We need proper test and trace and then I would be willing to ease up on restrictions. I want temperatures taken before people can get on buses and enter public buildings, while we are waiting for a vaccine.
People are getting too relaxed - queueing outside five guys and B&Q, travelling out of their home towns unnecessarily etc. People are starting to see their friends/families on the quiet.

MouthBreathingRage · 25/04/2020 18:10

We could cope with another few weeks under lockdown, but I really wish I could take the children somewhere other than our tiny garden to have a runaround. The youngest in particular is constantlyon the go, we just dont have the room. However, if needs must then obviously I'd rather lives not be risked.

On a personal/utter selfish level, I just want to get on with my driving lessons. I was absolutely cracking it, I need to pass if I ever want to get back into work. I don't think they'll start up anytime soon sadly. We're lucky that my husband has a safe job though, so can't complain.

peppermintcapsules · 25/04/2020 18:10

No

cheesybeano · 25/04/2020 18:10

I'm not bothered tbh, the things I used to do before will still be a while away from opening again after lockdown is lifted, probably and I don't live near family so its not like I could even do that either

GoldenOmber · 25/04/2020 18:10

Yes, if we were presented with the justification for it.

I would support a longer lockdown now if it meant that this got numbers low enough for testing and tracing to be effective, and meant we could get back somewhere closer to normal after the lockdown without having to do this all over again, and that was the actual plan.

It would also help if the government set out some kind of light at the end of the tunnel regarding lifting measures after that.

CaroleFuckinBaskin · 25/04/2020 18:10

This won't be a popular opinion but I think we should be in lockdown until a vaccine is available or at least a test to see if you might have had it already/be immune.

And who is going to finance that then? The magical money fairy?

pigsknickers · 25/04/2020 18:11

No. The cost of more lockdown is too great - to physical and mental health and wellbeing, to our economy (a deep recession is going to kill far more people than the virus), to our cultural life. We're fine at home, we have space outside and are enjoying our family time, but for many people this is a living nightmare that can't go on indefinitely.

DeathByBoredom · 25/04/2020 18:11

Nope
I don't support it and don't plan on doing it
You crack on if you want to

Ponoka7 · 25/04/2020 18:11

@Molliemoo10, so we risk a whole generation not being educated and more people dying from illnesses and committing suicide than dying from Covid?

"People who are vulnerable should stay home"

People who are vulnerable should be supported to be able to stay at home, if that's what they choose.

Inconnu · 25/04/2020 18:11

On balance, I think lockdown should be lifted for economic reasons. It's tricky though. People must be prepared for the fact that cases will start increasing again.

FullOfCake · 25/04/2020 18:12

Surely if people want to go back to work it has to go hand in hand with the schools opening though?

sobeyondthehills · 25/04/2020 18:12

No, if they do, it needs to be a complete lockdown and more measures in place to stop thing like Westminster Bridge happening, or the beaches I am seeing on the news.

I can't speak for everyone but I am finding it very frustrating that I am following the rules and no one in my family is shielding, we have lost 50% of our income, so there is obviously a selfish need to want to get back to normal and my mental health is suffering and my son is really starting to miss school and we are struggling being in a small flat all three of us

SionnachRua · 25/04/2020 18:12

No, I wouldn't support further lockdown. It's causing a lot of pain for people. We need to find the least worst solution for the most people - continuing lockdown will close business and put many, many people out of work. ALONE (working with the elderly in Ireland) have said a lot of callers are discussing suicidal ideation - quantity of life means little when the quality of that life is shite.

I also think we will have to lockdown at some stage in winter so we need to get back to work while we can.

DysonFury · 25/04/2020 18:14

I won't be observing further lockdown rules given that Londoners are permitted to flout the rules Thursday evenings for their weekly mass seal clap. And the funeral of 'Mr Ibiza' in Manchester, again Police allowing a mass gathering, not observing social distancing. I've had enough of being a law abiding mug thanks.

MarshaBradyo · 25/04/2020 18:15

Which is the case presently

SouthEast there are many not open?

SunShine682 · 25/04/2020 18:15

No I won’t be supporting it and il be doing what I like and visiting who I want when I want.

Doingitaloneandproud · 25/04/2020 18:16

Nope. I want to see my family and boyfriend, I'm not all for lifting every restriction but seeing family / friends in their homes yep. We have to live with it, the NHS is coping. Too many other illnesses being left, economy crashing. Lockdown needs to begin to be lifted. I think people are already showing less support judging from my walk today, never crossed the road so much Confused

FizzyPink · 25/04/2020 18:16

Yes I’d be very happy to support a further lockdown, I’m not finding it particularly difficult and very much enjoying working from home.

I do worry though that people are becoming much more relaxed about the rules. There are countless people on my Instagram driving around seeing family from their doorsteps and we’ve just been sat in our front garden this afternoon and at least 3 neighbours have had visitors pop in.
