To think no one is stockpiling fucking aubergines

I know it’s not a big deal. But we’re shielding DD so getting food deliveries and it’s such a pain in the arse only being able to order 3 of anything.

I understand for high demand items it might be necessary to limit items but surely some common sense should be applied?

I'm veggie and so many recipes or restaurant dishes use them but I just can't feel the love. I'd gladly give my share of rations to you aubergine lovers

@Teacher12345 - maybe people are thinking about making their Christmas Cakes! I have to admit I ordered glace cherries and sultanas for my next delivery!

I put a salad bowl in my trolley, one of those single portion salads. Was only allowed to order one.

I do wonder if it works on an algorithm of how much they’ve got in stock when you’re ordering because the following day when I made changes I could add another.

In my neighbourhood peppers are like gold dust, somehow in our last 2 deliveries we struck lucky! Much enviousness from local friends...

Apparently there are problems with international supply (no pickers in Spain, for example) and also there have been problems with extreme weather conditions earlier in the year impacting on crops, so a number of vegetables are affected including aubergines.

Well there will definitely be a run on them now we all want to make that chilli.

It's all about how you cook aubergines I think. Very easy for them to turn into a slimy mess, but flavour with garlic and fry/grill till crispy and they're one of my favourite foods

I’m allergic to aubergines and got 4 in my most recent veg box. They went straight on the WhatsApp group for our street.

I managed to get two aubergines last week from a local veg box delivery company. Nice big ones as well, they will go in a curry tomorrow. We seem to have a shortage of sweet potatoes here though

No shortages here bar eggs, not a single bloody egg in a huge supermarket. Bonkers. Saying that, I didn’t need flour so maybe people are still baking madly? I’m over the whole baking thing now!

Agree you need to find the right recipe. I disliked them until I tried them cubed and roasted with cous-cous.

That Aubergine chilli is fantastic as I've made it a couple of times. If you do have to grill them don't forget to prick them first as if they explode under they grill they make an impressive noise and mess - speaking from experience sadly!

We are having a shortage also with Aubergines and weirdly enough sprouts

I’m going to make that chilli, it looks good. But I hate aubergines so will substitute mushrooms instead!
