I haven't been out for a walk in almost 4 weeks, I'm so worried about it so I have stayed in with DD 2 years old but im wondering if I'm being silly and if I should go out for a walk a day?

Yes I have and I ride my bike on alternate days. Fresh air and a change of scenery is a good thing.

QuestionableMouse · 24/04/2020 14:10

Yes. I try to get out for a bit each day (and the dog needs his walk anyway).

Lovinglockdownlife · 24/04/2020 14:11

Yes, more than one. Which is allowed.

lastqueenofscotland · 24/04/2020 14:11

I’ve been out running (usually very very early or very late) every day. I’d have gone completely batshit if I’d stayed indoors all day.

I go out every single day. Surely your mental health will suffer for not having been out at all? You can safely go for a walk practicing social distancing and not touching things.

oldperson1 · 24/04/2020 14:13

I have no choice I am married to the daily exercise walk Stazi 😳

Mauidemigod · 24/04/2020 14:13

Yes I run every day. Feels amazing

Beamur · 24/04/2020 14:13

Perfectly safe to go out for a walk. Probably will do you good.
Just be mindful of keeping distance from other people and keep DD with you, use a rein or similar if she's a bolter.
Choose a nice route with interesting things to look at and if you can, avoid gates etc, so you won't worry about picking up the virus.
I go out every day. Would hate to be stuck indoors.

DefConOne · 24/04/2020 14:13

I’ve been out most days. I’m not shielding so why not?

Zoey92 · 24/04/2020 14:13

Yes everyday, just a small walk for me though because im 31weeks pregnant 😂

DefConOne · 24/04/2020 14:14

I’ve started running because fitness class is shut. Almost starting to enjoy it which I didn’t expect.

namechangetheworld · 24/04/2020 14:15

Every day, yes. We have two small children and they would go stir crazy just being trapped in the house and tiny garden. We live in a hamlet though and usually don't see anybody.

beebeedandelion · 24/04/2020 14:16

No. I'm only going to work to try and minimise my viral load. We get all our shopping delivered so don't even go to the shops. I haven't been anywhere other then work in the last five weeks.

Bombaybunty · 24/04/2020 14:16

I haven't been out much. I have quite bad asthma so I'm being careful.

I've done a lot of gardening instead.

megletthesecond · 24/04/2020 14:16

Yes. A walk with one child and a run with the eldest.
Are you somewhere you can walk away from people? We go on boring routes around industrial estates and empty business parks. If you can avoid thin paths in parks you should be able to distance ok. Maybe use reins for your toddler through as you might have to cross a road every so often.

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 24/04/2020 14:17

90 mins per day to walk dogs in the countryside. If we didn't have dogs we'd probably go for a walk just a few times a week though.

vanillandhoney · 24/04/2020 14:17

Of course, why on earth wouldn't you?

I take the dog out for at least an hour a day.

LolaSmiles · 24/04/2020 14:18

I've been out almost every day.

Go for a walk, keep your distance and try to avoid places that are popular if possible.

Lalapurple · 24/04/2020 14:19

Yes every day or I would go insane. Plus think it's good for the toddler. I reckon the risk of getting virus on a walk very low and outweighed by going crazy inside.
If I had my own garden and larger flat I might go less often.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 24/04/2020 14:19

As long as you social distance and shouldn't be shielding for any reason (i.e. you're one of the people who've received a letter from the government) it would be a good idea to go out.

Partly because being out in the sun and getting some exercise will do you good, and partly because the longer you leave it the harder it will be. A colleague of mine had not left the house for over a month and had become terrified at the idea. Eventually her husband practically dragged her out of the house!

PurpleDaisies · 24/04/2020 14:20

Yes. Exercise and vitamin d are really important.

Mikki2019 · 24/04/2020 14:21

You know sunlight kills this virus in about. Minute ?

Ragwort · 24/04/2020 14:21

Absolutely, I did a four mile walk this morning and will probably go out later as well.

What is your reason for not going out? Unless you are very vulnerable surely you want to get out in the fresh air and have a walk. Even my 89 dad goes out walking every day Grin.

Either take your DD out with you or if you have a DP leave your child at home.

returnofthecat · 24/04/2020 14:21

You're not alone - I haven't been out either.
