I couldn't see another tread on this. But if there is, please link it.

What's your opinion on this? AIBU to think this is in very bad taste?

Opticabbage · 23/04/2020 09:10

Leave them alone. They're having a terrible time.

WorraLiberty · 23/04/2020 09:11

Bad taste in what way?

00100001 · 23/04/2020 09:11

why can't they dance???

StillCounting123 · 23/04/2020 09:12

It's ugly and crass. I understand it's a hard job (my husband is a Dr and works in a Covid centre) but this is just unnecessary pratting about for social media likes.

Here you go

00100001 · 23/04/2020 09:13

It's only Daily Fail type readers that would be so fucking miserable about staff dancing.

"but ther'es peopel DYING"

miserbale fucking twats all of them

Alb1 · 23/04/2020 09:13

It’s raising moral for people doing an awful job. If you don’t like it don’t watch it!

DeadBod · 23/04/2020 09:14

God forbid they spend 5 minutes of their day enjoying themselves.

AnnofPeeves · 23/04/2020 09:14

I think the bad taste is because one jolly dancing video was released the same day an ED consultant died.

Whitefeather01 · 23/04/2020 09:14

I guess because many many people are having appointments and treatment cancelled or postponed because apparently there isn't time, enough staff etc. Yet these dances must take time to practice, film etc

OP posts:
Whitefeather01 · 23/04/2020 09:15

It isn't 5 minutes though is it?

OP posts:
Shinyletsbebadguys · 23/04/2020 09:15

Frankly right now, provided they dont start ritually sacrificing small chickens for a laugh, I say let them bloody be. Unless you fancy getting off your backside and going frontline to risk yourself and your family ?

No ?

Didn't think so, let them cope the way they need to

Whitefeather01 · 23/04/2020 09:16

Thank you @unusualbloodgroup

Oh god another one of these. I look forward to it descending into the usual two sided argument - grumpy curtain twitchers on one side, 'you're a miserable bastard' brigade on the other.

As for the OP, i dont think it's in bad taste but I am getting fed up of the million 'look at me, look how fun and talented I am during these dark times!' videos. Then again, I'm stuck watching Peppa for 50 hours a day and probably fully morphed into the 'miserable bastard' category.

Thighmageddon · 23/04/2020 09:17

There is another thread and the nhs staff on there are cringing.

lizzie1970a · 23/04/2020 09:18

Inappropriate and offensive, and boring, trite and predictable as well.

Lifeasweknow · 23/04/2020 09:18

I think the cancellations of appointments is more for the saftety of HCP and patients alike. Also, people are entitled to some downtime at work and a break. We can't be sure that these aren't taking part in their break times.

OldPeculier · 23/04/2020 09:19

I knew it wouldn’t be long until the good feeling towards NHS staff wore off. The last couple of days on MN has proved it spectacularly.

YANBU NHS staff aren’t humans after all. They’re just robots that serve the public tirelessly and on a whim. They’re not sentient beings at all and should not be treated as such. Biscuit

Elsiebear90 · 23/04/2020 09:19

My god there’s some miserable people about.

Appointments aren’t being cancelled because there’s not enough staff, they’re being cancelled because we’ve been told all elective work is to be cancelled, as we need to minimise footfall in the hospital and only see people if it is absolutely necessary. It’s got nothing to do with not having enough time or staff, certainly not at my trust anyway, it’s about prevent people spreading and contracting Covid.

WarmSausageTea · 23/04/2020 09:20

I haven’t seen the video, and it doesn’t interest me, but I genuinely couldn’t do what they’re doing, and can barely imagine the pressure many NHS staff are under.

My opinion? If it’s not illegal, immoral or insulting, let them crack on. If you don’t like it, fair enough, but don’t watch/read/whatever, and don’t be sniffy about it on social media.

HTH.

Thighmageddon · 23/04/2020 09:22

Here's the other thread Op.

MouthBreathingRage · 23/04/2020 09:24

If it’s not illegal, immoral or insulting

I might disagree on the insulting part. Whilst most people understand that hospitals are big places, and many of these staff are probably not on the frontline with the CV cases, it's still probably not great for the families of those waiting on news of loved ones seeing their local hospital make up dance routines when friends and family are fighting for their lives nearby. I could understand why some would find it somewhat distasteful, even if it can be reasoned out.

Whitefeather01 · 23/04/2020 09:25

Yes @MouthBreathingRage - You've hit the nail on the head with what I meant.

OP posts:
00100001 · 23/04/2020 09:25

. Yet these dances must take time to practice, film etc

so NHS staff aren't allowed breaks any more???

Isn't it funny how two weeks ago everyone was oooh CLAP CLAP CLAP - OUR NHS HEROES

and now it's "oh... you're trying to make the worst time oin your working life a bit more bearable?? What arseholes"

EnlightenedOwl · 23/04/2020 09:27

the one i saw was one done by midwives at Bolton Hospital calling themselves madwives. promoted on facebook with a tag of "lets make this big." Dancing down the corridors to amarillo some of them wearing face visors and masks brought in as part of the fun. There were a lot of them and it went on fora while so it must have took some organising. Its pretty disgusting really
