DH (keyworker) often takes the DC out for walks in the dark after work. DC prefer going with him than me as he plays games with them as they’re walking like hide and seek, skipping/jumping around, chasing, making animal noises etc, and they like going out in the dark just as backgroundGrin.

Anyway tonight they were walking down the main road and turned into a side road to cut back across to our house. Teen DS was walking ahead and didn’t notice they were going into the side road so carried on walking. DH bird called Hmm to him to get his attention and he walked back so DH and little DS decided to hide behind some bushes at the bottom of a small cul de sac round the corner so they could jump out at him. They were on the opposite side of some houses in the cul de sac and nowhere near gardens etc. Anyway within seconds a man threw open his front door of the house in front of them and shouted at DH and DS to ‘get out of it’ and get off his property or he’d set his dog on them! Cue massive ugly staffie like thing coming out of the front door towards them. DH explained what he was doing and said they weren’t on his property but the man kept on. DS was very scared and shaken by this point and worried about the dog so DH decided to just let it go as DC were there and came home with a very upset DS.

I’m absolutely furious that this man thought he could behave this way and want to knock on his door tomorrow and give him a piece of my mind about him threatening people with his dog. It’s only the next street up. There’s are lots of these little cul de sacs in our area, we live in one ourselves, and they are not the homeowner’s private property to dictate who stands near them!

I'm getting REALLY fed up of this "I'm a key worker therefore I'm above those who aren't" bollocks. Have you seen the humongous list of jobs from Doctor to shelf stacker which are classed as 'keyworkers?' It is not an elite club, just a category of workers in an essential industry.
I'm not downplaying NHS there by the way, not at all. It's just that people like the OP, seem to think mentioning them being a 'keyworker' will create some kind of special privilege?! I witnessed one guy using the "but I'm a keyworker" line to try jump the queue at Morrisons. He's a Postman. Works in the sorting office!!

Years before all this shit i called the non emergency line when a friend and i saw a couple of teens skulking in the same way in bushes at the end of her road. We got inside and called them. They were glad to hear as several houses on adjoining ones had been burgled or vandalized. No idea if these ones were part of it as they don't update obviously.

The line her brother said the next day to us was that mucking about in the dark like that, in bushes was usually illicit foreplay (usually paid), a mugging or assault about to happen or burglary.

Daftodil · 22/04/2020 21:07

@Hoppinggreen How about this Thursday at 8pm we all hide in bushes while making bird noises to show our appreciation for the NHS?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

PatsyJStone · 22/04/2020 21:14

@hoppinggreen

Fantastic! Comment of the week 😂

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 22/04/2020 21:26

I'm not sure which Staffy it is, Nicky.

Is she yours? Beautiful!

k1233 · 22/04/2020 21:49

OMG Nicky, can't you see the blanket is covered in vicious dog spit! Look at all the white foam on it!

back in real life, I love staffies Smile I don't have one any more but constantly ask if I can pat the ones I see when I'm out and about (not at the moment though, with social distancing and all that).

nicky7654 · 22/04/2020 21:52

@glendasugarbeanisjudgingyou. Yes she is my rescue girl (rescued at 9 months) now 3. She has severe separation anxiety but the sweetest girl ever. I also have a boy whose 4 and he is as thick as shit lol but also sweet and so very loving. I hate Staffies being knocked as they are such gorgeous dogs and they so love their families x

nicky7654 · 22/04/2020 21:57

@k1233 lol 😂 I bet you.get lots of kisses too, they really love a stroke and cuddle x I have had 4 over the years with my young children and never any problems. My two now have their own double bed in our spare room as they are a big part of our family and very spoilt Smile

They're a pair of dudes, nicky. Gorgeous!

yellowbluebell · 22/04/2020 22:11

Your husband sounds like a child. Making animal noises on a walk and hiding in bushes...maybe he needs to grow up.

Mulhollandmagoo · 22/04/2020 23:44

Anyone else notice the OP has completely given up on this thread now Hmm

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 23/04/2020 00:49

Is your DH Alan Partridge?

This has in turns been one of the funniest threads I have seen for a while . In a bleak, black comedic way. Some of the posts have given me a laugh and a joy not felt for some time. T Hank you. , You bunch of cunts.

EverdeRose · 23/04/2020 07:18

It must have been quite late if it was after dark at this time of year.
It sounds like the man heard a commotion, saw someone hiding in his bushes and thought the worst, yes it was a little bit of an overreaction but it sounds like he was very scared himself.

YABU to mention your husband is a key worker too, it's not at all relevant.

caramelbun · 23/04/2020 08:25

Op Some people have been burgled, mugged or worse. The old chap spotted a couple of people hiding in his bushes at night and went to warn them off. From your perspective it was an innocent game that got ruined, but try to think of another point of view.

You would totally unreasonable (and aggressive yourself) to leave a note.

squishee · 23/04/2020 08:41

the unreasonable pasty Grin

Imstillskanking · 23/04/2020 08:44

massive ugly staffie

Know your audience, OP. You can't use this phrase on MN and then expect any sympathy Grin

SquirtleSquad · 26/04/2020 00:14

So OP, how'd it go when you went back to call him a cunt?

Nottherealslimshady · 26/04/2020 00:28

🤣🤣
