so what?

mbosnz · 20/04/2020 20:10

I would feel I'd done something awfully right if DH called me The War Office. . .

ThinkPink71 · 20/04/2020 20:11

@Inferiorbeing The Dragon..that is so funny haha xx

CandyLeBonBon · 20/04/2020 20:11

@grisen is hi name Neil?

DartmoorChef · 20/04/2020 20:12

Im struggling to see the issues with this

user1473878824 · 20/04/2020 20:12

You forgot to put lighthearted OP, so now the pitchforks come out 🙄

MissMuddyPuddles · 20/04/2020 20:13

@Inferiorbeing 🤣
Genuinely couldn't get myself worked up about this.

Shouldershrugger · 20/04/2020 20:13

Ltb right now 😂

HugeAckmansWife · 20/04/2020 20:15

The ex used to call me 'the current Mrs x' he thought it was really funny. I always make a point of referring to the ow he's now married to as 'the current Mrs x' when it's called for. He seems not to find it funny now.. 😝

Pannacottaformeplease · 20/04/2020 20:15

I knew someone who referred to his wife as "the leader of the opposition".

user1487194234 · 20/04/2020 20:15

I wouldn't like that
My DH is very PC so he is unlikely to do that
He once said to me wine had a few beers that quite a few guys in his office talked about their wives like that and it affected how he thought of them

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 20/04/2020 20:16

This is very bad, he should be referring to you as The Gaffer.

Inferiorbeing · 20/04/2020 20:16

Tbh he does it all the time! And I'm a bit wine drunk so my last reply was a bit rude Wine

RoLaren · 20/04/2020 20:19

My husband calls me 'er Indoors. I think it's hilarious Grin

louise5754 · 20/04/2020 20:19

DH works with all men and they live together 24:7 most of the time.

He calls me mate a lot but only because he's used to saying it.

Blackbear19 · 20/04/2020 20:20

The Mrs / the wife are just an lazy way to refer to their better halves without having to explain names. In the same way as people talk about My Mum and My Dad. Maybe it's "the" that offends you rather than My Mrs.

I just wish their was a man equivalent, I don't always want to disclose my DHs name to people, My man, the Hubby, the Mr just don't sound right.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 20/04/2020 20:20

Better than "Her"Grin

Lucyccfc68 · 20/04/2020 20:21

@ItsJustTheOneSwanActually did you work with my Ex-H? He used to call me the 'war office'. I thought it was funny and at least he knew who was in charge!

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 20/04/2020 20:21

The other nicknames, not including those implying that I’m the first wife, wouldn’t annoy me, but ‘the misses’ would, for some reason. The other nicknames might be a funny joke between husband and wife, but the ‘missus’ makes me feel like I’m on the same level as the cat or dog. My husband was actually the one who brought up how disrespectful he found it, when his workmates used it.

GreenTeaMug · 20/04/2020 20:24

I love The War Office.

I also love The leader of the opposition.

I call DH 'Fathead Husband'

He calls me 'Telly Tubby' .

We have a great relationship. :) (No really... I guess it comes down to what the names means to you, and how you feel about them).

SachaStark · 20/04/2020 20:26

I’ve realised through lockdown that DH refers to me as “my missus” when speaking with his work colleagues. As in, “Oh, my missus and I are watching that film on Netflix tonight.”

I don’t mind that at all, and I agree with a PP that it’s the use of “my” instead of “the”, which I think makes all the difference. I wouldn’t be happy with “the” as it would sound objectifying, IYSWIM?

Even better than that, I’ve also overheard him calling me by my nickname, which is the name of a kitchen condiment 😂 I’m sure that’s more strange for his work colleagues!

ScrewBalls99 · 20/04/2020 20:26

Mine calls me Mummy in front of the kids, not sure I like that. When his mum comes round it gets very confusing!

SassenachWitch · 20/04/2020 20:27

@Inferiorbeing is that you Mom?

AgeLikeWine · 20/04/2020 20:27

I call DP ‘the bloke’. He calls me ‘the boss’. We love one another really.

ScrewBalls99 · 20/04/2020 20:27

I think he refers to me as 'my wife' at work, that's fine
