Neighbours and my WIFI

Imrubbishatuserables · 19/04/2020 21:15

Hey!
Straight to point I got a new neighbour in my block of flat a few months ago and she asked for my wifi password to connect her console to so they could watch netflix.. i thought why not.. one other thing connected to it wont harm and she has just moved in.. it's her first home she hasn't had chance to set up her own yet. She then gets a new tv in the last few weeks and connects to my wifi but she has also connected her phone and her mates phone to it as well as they are picking up our google speakers on the network her mate joked they should play songs through my sons one in his room from their phones. So I have no idea how to change the password but would I be unreasonable to turn it off every night at 8PM? Considering we are in lockdown and she cant get her own during this time as they will need to come and connect it up. Previous tenant in that flat never had wifi either.

@SharonasCorona

Yes. That can be the only reason people post trite bullshit. Once the obvious answer has been stated maybe ten times, I'd be banning anyone who posts the same shite.

Someone up thread posted it, then two minutes later claimed to not have time to have read the thread. That is a blatant lie because she clearly had two minutes to read the thread and post again.

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 20/04/2020 21:52

Google how to change the password on your router model.

Mimimishmash · 20/04/2020 21:53

Block it now, get on to the router and change the password. They could do all sorts and your name is attached to the WiFi provider she doesn’t care about you as if she did she would have her life sorted out along time before lockdown.

Seashells106 · 20/04/2020 21:53

You should not hve given ur password, u thought you were helping her out but she is taking the piss! Unplug ur WiFi tell her as ur in lockdown u can't afford it as ur not working or furlough and get new password. If she logs onto an illegal Web site it will show your IP address and u wld get into trouble with the law. This is very serious

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 20/04/2020 21:56

sigh 😔

Ipadipod · 20/04/2020 22:00

It’s painful isn’t it ?

suze28 · 20/04/2020 22:02

I do love it when people read all of the comments and updates Hmm

CrazyTimesAreOccurring · 20/04/2020 22:02

Wow after 13 pages thank goodness @GoatyGoatyMingeMinge @Mimimishmash and @Seashells106 have come along to help us all out!!! No one had ANY idea in the over 300 messages beforehand about WHAT to do Hmm

FelicityJaneGrace · 20/04/2020 22:11

@Mimimishmash For the love of God RTFT

FelicityJaneGrace · 20/04/2020 22:14

@CrazyTimesAreOccurring

I want to bang my head repeatedly on my desk. It's so effing frustrating

Mummato3kiddies · 20/04/2020 22:23

You can get WiFi in during lockdown my friend is on Monday. Change ur password x

CrazyTimesAreOccurring · 20/04/2020 22:24

I know @FelicityJaneGrace I usually just ignore the people who obvs haven't read even the updates and think they have the needed pearls of wisdom, but seriously it's just ridiculous Grin

GhostHoward · 20/04/2020 22:30

Your son's school is still open?

JimDuggansEye · 20/04/2020 22:31

@CrazyTimesAreOccurring As I say, I'd be banning them after a few people had done it. They add nothing to the forum and are clearly narcissistic themselves.

forumdonkey · 20/04/2020 22:32

@Mummato3kiddies thank fuck you gave that advice. Poor OP has been waiting for someone to tell her to change her password since yesterday

seven201 · 20/04/2020 22:33

@ghosthowaed, maybe her son has an EHCP so is allowed in school.

Change the password. Cancel the cheque.

bettybattenburg · 20/04/2020 22:38

OP have a look here for advice on how to reset the password:
www.techradar.com/uk/broadband/how-to-change-your-router-password

Seashells106 · 20/04/2020 22:40

Thank u, glad u found my advice helpful. I will in future read all comments so not to duplicate answers & piss off the comments police. Crazytimesareoccuring

Stronger76 · 20/04/2020 22:41

Cancel the cheque OP

bettybattenburg · 20/04/2020 22:41

TaighNamGastaOrt · 20/04/2020 22:41

Good gravy, won't anyone just RTFT? She changed the password yesterday. Grin

Nice one OP! Hope she's too busy with her pals!

Travis1 · 20/04/2020 22:43

🤣🤣 does nobody even just read the ops posts anymore? I mean 13 pages, you think it might be sussed out....maybe 😬

SharonasCorona · 20/04/2020 22:45

@Seashells106
