Wearing ppe in shops...

I just don't get it.

People wearing gloves in shops, it's not protecting you anymore than if you just wash / Antibac your hands when you're done.
There's just no need for it.
So far today, I've seen a girl wearing gloves, walking along on her phone texting, so all those germs youre protecting your hands from, are now on your phone, that you're probably going to use as normal once you've taken your gloves off.

I've seen a woman with mask and gloves on, came out the supermarket, removed her mask with gloves still on, so all those germs on your gloves are now on your face.

I think shops shouldn't allow it tbh.

I wear a mask and gloves into the shop.
I am fully aware on how to use my PPE as it's part of my job to be gowned up, mask, visor, gloves on all day! So fully aware how to remove my PPE safely and in which order to do so.
People who don't work with PPE don't always think about them touching their phones, face etc but at the same time it isn't your place to judge and just because you don't wear gloves which btw aren't pointless doesn't mean you should judge others for doing so.

If it gives people confirm then who are we to comment? Everyone is dealing with this in their own way.

My dh wears gloves but throws them away before he get in car. We have been washing all of our shopping. To be perfectly honest I don't believe anyone has a clue about this disease and how it spreads and what the symptoms officially are. Yes they have a few symptoms but new ones seem to be occurring in different people all the time.

From all I seem to read each person has the potential to present with many different symptoms outside of cough etc

Also for me I wasn't happy when I read nurses were going from the wards straight into the supermarket I think this has to be worse than wearing gloves.
I personally I'd go home and shower straight away after work, I can't imagine why it's still appropriate to leave the hospital then go to a supermarket for anyone.

People are scared, I am scared. If the way to make you feel better is wearing gloves then I don't this affects anyone else?

OP, if your problem isn't with people wearing PPE but with people wearing or removing it incorrectly, why would you want shops to ban it? The people that would harm most are those who do wear it properly and are afraid of getting infected while shopping.

DH works in a shop. He says bar none the ones who come in wearing masks are the ones who fail to respect distancing like the mask provides them and others with a magic vortex of protection.

People also often come in with their own gloves and refuse to use the sanitiser waving the gloves around to show they don't need it despite the fact they put them on with dirty hands or have used several times. Not to mention the ones that arrive with woolly gloves that probably haven't been washed since they received them as a gift at Xmas 2008....

He's also had people come right up to him and pull down the mask to ask questions.

Just Use hand sanitiser. Keep 2 m away from others. Don't touch your face. Leave quickly. Not hard

This just confirms my experience in the supermarket the other evening, the ones wearing PPE were, on the whole, the ones just doing what the hell they liked.

onlinelinda · 19/04/2020 08:50

Do t judge.

I would wear PPE in a shop at the moment if I went in one (I haven't) because I have had Coronavirus for 5 weeks. I have had no symptoms for a few days then a recurrence, and I don't believe the government guidance on infection timelines.

There will be plenty of people in shops who have been ill and are out there after 7 days, which is mad.

dontdisturbmenow · 19/04/2020 09:01

If PPE are not used properly and they often aren't by people not trained to do so, that sense of comfort can actually make them feel more relaxed and as a result less careful, putting themselves and everyone else more at risk.

Northern I think some get a kick out of shaming others.

I have 2 packs, but they're just vinyl and not sterile use to the NHS. I bought them from Poundstretcher in February while the PM and his chronies were still turning a blind eye and joking about the fast approaching disaster.
