Isn’t there a princess in Europe that’s now working as a HCA?

A queen somewhere in Asia cooking for the poor?

Harry and Meghan delivering meals?

Bet if Diana was here she’d be out doing everything in her power to help the ordinary folk 💪

OP posts:
twirlycat77 · 18/04/2020 15:43

If any of them got toothache would they have to suffer agonies like people on here are? Hmm

The queen with her servants, butlers chefs, chauffeurs, dressers, and a trillion other skivvies, speaks words of soppy sentiment from her castle, and all the surfs bow down in gratitude that she’s deemed to speak to them......"

How easy it is to brainwash the gullible.

Wolfgirrl · 18/04/2020 15:45

@Abraid2

I care. As does anyone else capable of critical thinking.

twirlycat77 · 18/04/2020 15:45

But we aren’t talking about them, we were talking about the Cambridges

They’re all cut from the same cloth.

CathyorClaire · 18/04/2020 15:59

But we aren’t talking about them, we were talking about the Cambridges

You think a man whose entire family is renowned for their deep pockets short arms and expert PR spin is likely to buck the trend?

LaMarschallin · 18/04/2020 16:10

Well, I'm jealous/envious of them.

I've got a perfectly nice lifestyle, roof over my head, enough to eat etc

But I haven't got jewellery that could be exchanged for a house; guaranteed private education for my children (even if the poor creatures might be too thick to take advantage of it - fairly sure mine wouldn't need teachers cheating for them); access to health care that some 70+ year olds couldn't dream of...

Yes. I'm jealous. Why is that an odd/weird/bad thing?

Wouldn't most people be jealous of someone who happened to have been born to the right person?
Or of any random person who caught the eye of someone in the royal succession by wearing a see-through dress or something?

CocoCorona · 18/04/2020 16:14

Haven’t read the thread because I don’t care, but KATE AND WILLY 🤭🤭🤭 hehehehe. WILLY.

MarshaBradyo · 18/04/2020 16:21

Idk about jealous but I was musing earlier about the elements that would make lockdown nicer and I reckon they are best placed in U.K.

  • two adults home no work bar odd phone call to feel connected, bit of a pick me up
  • good schooling
  • probably live in help - cleaning / nanny / cooking
  • vast grounds
  • financial stability no stress about future

Maybe Jeff Bezos wherever he is feels less stressed

But others even if you earn a lot aren’t without stresses, and then other end is a completely different story

But even if some are lucky and it’s not all equal, what I don’t get is the unquestioning admiration.

Apparently her nickname for him is "Big Willy".

  • oh and the press trying to push your relevance so you don’t feel like the complete privileged do nothing you may feel

marshabrady Yes to all those points you raised, but what gets me, they’re so filled with entitlement they won’t even think they’re very fortunate. They look on their positions as a God given right. But the people that fawn and grovel and hang on to their every word, laugh insanely at any attempt at humour.......what’s up with those people? Confused

EmmaGrundyForPM · 18/04/2020 18:07

I think its hugely patronising that they talk about the mental strain of isolation when they are in the most privileged position possible. Of course it's a fact that ones mental health can deteriorate in lockdown no matter how much privilege you have.

However they do not have the additional strains of coping with small children in a flat, or worrying about where the food is going to come from, or the fact that you've lost your job.

They really are irrelevant in this day and age. They have nothing positive to add to a nation in crisis.

What cheap publicity stunt?
Show me a Royal who has not had a camera documenting their work.
In any case they stepped down, so why even bother about them?.
Is it not best to ignore their so called 'cheap publicity stunts'- surely they are no longer relevant!

Pinkblueberry · 18/04/2020 19:25

Willy?

MangoFeverDream · 18/04/2020 19:36

Maybe Jeff Bezos wherever he is feels less stressed

Doubtful he still has a company to run.

binkyboinky · 18/04/2020 20:16

They are useless.

caperberries · 18/04/2020 20:35

I think they pay a very heavy price for their life of luxury.

Kate has had loving supportive parents, a good marriage (as far as I can tell), three healthy delightful children, no financial worries, a large home and garden, private education for her children, the ability to travel, skiing holidays etc

Well, I have all of those things too, as do many of my friends. But without the scrutiny and sneering, without having the public at large picking at everything I do.

I mightn’t have pieces of jewellery worth more than a family car, but I wouldn’t trade places with Kate for anything. And at least Kate and William conduct themselves with dignity, unlike the other two.

twirlycat77 · 18/04/2020 20:56

Worldpeace Exactly what I said, a cheap publicity stunt. You answered you own question, they’ve stepped down so why the need for the cameras. They obviously wanted them so they could be seen delivering parcels to six houses.

Of course it was a cheap publicity stunt. You’re right they are no longer relevant but someone brought them into the conversation, many others have said the same. Even when royals step down they’re still going to get talked about you know. Confused

Diyhaircutgonewrong · 18/04/2020 21:30

I must be moving in odd circles. I don't know unemployed couple with 3 DC that can afford multiple properties, private education for all DC, luxuries holidays, a nanny and other staff...

I don't actually don't even know couples where not only one but even both parents work who can afford such a lifestyle.

springydaff · 18/04/2020 22:17

Maybe donate a huge chunk of money

I very much suspect they do, on the quiet.

But I'm also tired of these fabulously wealthy people acting as though they're one of us. They really, really aren't. Money isn't everything but, oh my, it can make a huge difference to quality of life. The chances of them struggling like the rest of us with the impact of this virus is pretty low. Especially with them hopping across palaces to a more comfortable setting during this pandemic. Like Charles.

The Royal family are beyond price diplomatically. Like it or not the world is in thrall to them. One visit from a British royal calms all manner of brewing terrible between us. We may not like them but the rest of the world does - hugely, actually. For this reason alone I wouldn't want to get rid of them.

I value the younger royals' work with MH. They have a voice and they're using it. I'm very grateful for that, their work has really put MH on the agenda. For all their offensive wealth, they do know the realities of struggling with MH, the great equaliser.

Sugartitss

what are you doing op?

If only someone had the brilliant idea to have asked the OP this incredibly insightful question ages ago!

Oh, wait - they did. And the OP answered:

I am an NHS HCP and have been working my socks off! Oh and home schooling my 2 kids as well
