To ask if you've treated yourself to something as a pick me up right now, and what it is

So We're all stuck in as we know. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo, and DH wfh so most of my day is chaos with one millisecond of the day to myself. Oh and its my birthday this week (woooo).
I've not spent any money of late as DH does our food shop (I cover all bills and budgeted some spending money for mat leave). I am still in mat clothes thanks to not being able to get new ones I can fit in but I am comfy and reluctant to have to return items. I am generally not someone that spends money on myself, it mostly goes on the kids.

But like most, I am low and anxious, and want to 'treat' myself but no idea where to start in the current climate.

So has anyone treated themselves and if so what, why and did it work??

I have been treated to some lovely pjs by my boyfriend and I bought myself some bomb cosmetics and haviana’s. I also have a few clothes arriving this week, essential as nothing fits me! I also have subscribed to Glossy box.

ginsparkles · 29/04/2020 17:13

Ridiculously small and silly treat but I have wanted for ages to have a colouring book for me, I have found colouring in really relaxing, so I have treated myself to 2 colouring books. They are arriving on Friday and I’m super excited!

colouringindoors · 29/04/2020 17:24

Plants and wine in the main, but have been eyeing up one of those outdoor corner "sofas" !

ginsparkles careful it can get addictive - I started with one & now have several - my favourite are the mandalas to colour. The other thing is of course you start buying more pens ……. enjoy

bobstersmum · 29/04/2020 18:02

Well as I've been moaning about not being able to get out for exercise on my own, dh has treated me to an electric mountain bike! Not arrived yet so can't say if I'm glad or not yet lol.

Cheeeeislifenow · 29/04/2020 18:10

Lots of skincare! Mostly stuff from the ordinary.

HomeEdRocks18 · 29/04/2020 18:16

12 cupcakes

ginsparkles · 29/04/2020 18:37

@BeaLola Grin so excited.... I don’t think I will be allowed to moan about my daughter for buying another new pencil case or notebook again Grin

CookieDoughKid · 29/04/2020 18:41

New Cartier watch. I apologise it's a different level of spend but I see this as an investment piece to hand down to my daughter (that's my excuse anyway).

MulberryPeony · 29/04/2020 18:45

Lovely @CookieDoughKid I have a tank watch on my lottery win wish list.

maddening · 29/04/2020 18:47

Cross trainer, asthmatic so not going back to the gym for a while as expecting to have to keep safer for longer, I can wfh and can now fully work out at home now.

CookieDoughKid · 29/04/2020 18:49

MulberryPeony I dithered for ages on the Tank watch! I'll add Tank to my collection collection one day..I like Tank in stainless silver rather than a two tone but beautiful watch.

SunshineCake, your reply could easily be what I would write!
I too have ordered from all 3 of those shops (Lakeland, Hobbycraft and H&B). Lakeland and Hobbycraft are my ‘feel good’ shops Smile

Mirrorxx · 29/04/2020 20:15

A bag from the curated
A bag from the mulberry outlet as it’s now online

Bamboo loungewear
Snag tights
A bbq

everythingisginandroses · 29/04/2020 23:08

I love this thread, it's brilliant! Besides lots of books, chocolate and some food treats, we are buying beer from local breweries and I've ordered some Lakeland stuff. Thinking of joining the Idler Academy for their online courses.

cashmerecardigans · 01/05/2020 19:00

I've bought a fab new lipstick from MAC and then yesterday bought a gorgeous pink Paul smith coat from eBay. I've got the same coat in green already and absolutely love it, so am very happy

SunshineCake · 01/05/2020 19:47

An update

My Lakeland parcel has arrived but I haven't opened it yet. I'm savouring it I think as I have been cleaning alllllll day and I'm too tired to enjoy it fully.

Instead of the cricut dh has bought me some pro markers so I can do better with my home made cards as I'm currently using the kids felt tips. The kids are 14-19Grin.

everythingisginandroses · 01/05/2020 21:35

Oooh, SunshineCake, what did you get? I hope you enjoy it! My Lakeland parcel arrived today too: mostly 'practical' stuff like Klippits and Sticky Stuff Remover, but also a bottle of that fab vanilla extract they sell. I do love Lakeiand: even their cleaning products feel like a treat Smile

I also went a bit mad and treated myself to a beautiful, fruit bowl (heavily discounted discontinued stock) and a chilly bottle from Emma Bridgewater.

SunshineCake · 01/05/2020 22:21

Haven't opened it yet, *@everythingisginandroses. I will open first thing and report back.

MulberryPeony · 01/05/2020 22:38

@Sunshinecake watch the kids with the promarkers or they’ll be off drawing manga or cars with them.

@cashmerecardigans what lip colour did you get?
