So We're all stuck in as we know. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo, and DH wfh so most of my day is chaos with one millisecond of the day to myself. Oh and its my birthday this week (woooo).
I've not spent any money of late as DH does our food shop (I cover all bills and budgeted some spending money for mat leave). I am still in mat clothes thanks to not being able to get new ones I can fit in but I am comfy and reluctant to have to return items. I am generally not someone that spends money on myself, it mostly goes on the kids.

But like most, I am low and anxious, and want to 'treat' myself but no idea where to start in the current climate.

So has anyone treated themselves and if so what, why and did it work??

Body shop mango bubble bath and a lovely jigsaw of rainbow coloured rocks and crystals. Just finished it though Sad

And new books in the supermarket trolley and chocolate eggs reduced!

ladybird69 · 28/04/2020 23:12

@billydilly loving the fish 😍 I’ve bought a tropical aquarium during the lockdown, is it a tropical fish? I’d love one it’s so cheerful looking

Sewrainbow · 28/04/2020 23:31

This is a lovely thread, I'm enjoying reading everyone's treats. I think we've all come to the point where we feel we need a little reward for staying in and being good. There is still a long way to go and yes small businesses need our cash. I'm also still buying from the local shops like the butcher.

@BloomedAgain I was the world's most cynical person and it's been MAGICAL Blush after loads of research I went for a 9kg Mela blanket (from Amazon but they do have their own site too). Was a bit shocked at how heavy it was in the box, but then settled down under it to read and I realised after about an hour that I was feeling relaxed! I haven't felt so calm and soothed in years. I've since slept under it and also use it to chill on the sofa :)

On balance I'd say for me it's too heavy and warm for night time, but for general calm - on sofa, napping or even over my legs while I'm working at my desk - it's been more effective than I could have imagined.

And it has a washable cover, which as I have two cats who have decided it's the best bed ever is definitely a plus 😂

undercoveraessedai · 29/04/2020 00:06

Oh, and I'd definitely say choose a weight which is 8-12% of your body weight. I am happily plump and think the 6kg wouldn't have had the same soothing effect, but I can also see the 9kg being way too heavy for a slighter person!

@TheWordWomanIsTaken what’s your peg bag like? Is it big? DH gets annoyed that we seem to have too many pegs for any peg bag or pot. But I get annoyed we don’t have enough pegs for more than one load of washing.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 29/04/2020 03:35

Too much online shopping.
What I'd really really love right now is a massage, but can't get that socially distanced.

tapdancingmum · 29/04/2020 10:00

Reading all of these I think I need to up my game Grin So far I've ordered a jigsaw and a Winnie the pooh peg bag!

I am thinking about a Nintendo Switch lite and Animal Crossing as DD has it but I am still playing Wild World on the DS and don't want to abandon my town Smile

REH2912 · 29/04/2020 10:34

An Eve memory foam pillow (it's amazing!) and some Pela iPhone cases (they currently have a buy one get one free offer on their website). I've also bought some tarot cards and guidebook as I've always wanted to learn how to read them!

holidayheadache · 29/04/2020 11:00

@undercoveraessedai you just made me buy a weighted blanket Blush

undercoveraessedai · 29/04/2020 11:26

@holidayheadache oops! Sorry not sorry 😂 I hope you love it as much as I love mine!

Pasghetti · 29/04/2020 11:37

Nice shower gel. Showers are now a delight 😁

Thirtyrock39 · 29/04/2020 11:44

Ugg boots and converse trainers
Also bought lots of books on the kindle

Thirtyrock39 · 29/04/2020 11:46

I've also started shopping at Sainsbury's as couldn't face Aldi queues and that still seems like a treat and I do much prefer it

thesnailandthewhale · 29/04/2020 11:52

Insoles for my plantar fasciitis, well worth the money :)

A 3d papercraft model of a sloth from Flamingo Paperie - I actually sell them and they're really popular, decided it would help fill some time so have treated myself to one (link is in my profile if anyone is interested in seeing them - unicorn, cat, koala, t-rex, pug, llama, flowers)

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 29/04/2020 12:01

sewrainbow was the jigsaw online? I need another one and it sounds lovely.

DisneyMillie · 29/04/2020 12:39

A new smart tv for the living room - our old one was over ten years old - it’s brilliant!!

MinnieMountain · 29/04/2020 12:45

Books but they count as essentials for me.

A Patagonia hoodie rather than a cheaper one. It's very soft.

EyeShipMiceElf · 29/04/2020 12:55

Thanks @shockers. It’s payday tomorrow so I might get some.
I’ve just bought something else, although I did have a JL gift card so that covered most of it.
Elemis Superfood booster and a new mug with dogs on as my current one cracked and had to go.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 29/04/2020 14:18

I booked a fab holiday for next summer with a guarantee that if you cancel in a timely manner you get 100% refund.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/04/2020 15:02

"Nice shower gel. Showers are now a delight 😁"

Pre-lockdown I started using lovely rose-scented soaps in the shower. Got myself a little stash while they were on offer, which is still going strong, and they make me feel slightly better every time I shower.

Loved reading about everyones treats. Learned of a few lovely retailers I’d never heard of too, going to have to be very restrained! (Especially intrigued by the Valium pill silk shirt!)

For me a mix of needs and wants!

Fat Face ankle boots (in sale, had eye on for ages)
Deepak guided meditation subscription (to try and obtain some zen...)
White Stuff top (in sale couldn’t refuse)
Purse from Desigual (needed)
Pair of Vans (revisiting youth)
Aromatherapy Diffuser and Oil (to sustain aforementioned zen)
DJ decks for DS 16 (if he insists on staying in room until college he may as well be creative)
Cushions for living room (just because)

RosesandIris · 29/04/2020 16:06

naomi

who did you book with please? I am tempted to book but nervous about losing the deposit.

SunshineCake · 29/04/2020 16:38

I've bought a few bits from Lakeland and food from Holland & Barrett along with some food treats for us all.

DH has offered to buy me a cricut as he wants a sound bar and says we both deserve a treat.

I've also ordered lots of seeds to grown herbs and vegetables.

I'm going to be looking at Hobbycraft's site later but I Do Not Need Anything especially no more card..

We also ordered my dog a new chew bone but that is a necessity not a treat.
