To ask if you've treated yourself to something as a pick me up right now, and what it is

So We're all stuck in as we know. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo, and DH wfh so most of my day is chaos with one millisecond of the day to myself. Oh and its my birthday this week (woooo).
I've not spent any money of late as DH does our food shop (I cover all bills and budgeted some spending money for mat leave). I am still in mat clothes thanks to not being able to get new ones I can fit in but I am comfy and reluctant to have to return items. I am generally not someone that spends money on myself, it mostly goes on the kids.

But like most, I am low and anxious, and want to 'treat' myself but no idea where to start in the current climate.

So has anyone treated themselves and if so what, why and did it work??

Some silk fabric to make my own silk pillowcases and hair scrunchies. I don’t have a sewing machine so will be interesting to see how I get on. 😉

A greenhouse Grin

NaomiFromMilkShake · 27/04/2020 12:24

I need this, as much as I need a hole in the head, but as we enter week 6, the F*ck it Goblins keep putting it in my basket. Grin

Books, MasterClass sub, a stash of Lush, and far too much skincare from Liberty to qualify for their GWP. I’m also debating over an Airwrap but I also think it’s crazy money.

Shockers · 27/04/2020 20:17

@SantiagoSky- I’m so envious! DH says no to chickens. He did agree to two rescue dogs and a cat though, so I can’t really complain...

winterisstillcoming · 27/04/2020 20:39

@Writersblock2 I'm getting an air wrap for my birthday! I'm so excited. I'm going for the complete as I don't want any regrets.

I'm justifying it by pooling my birthday money and I've not bought anything for myself this month in terms of beauty, clothes etc so I shall make the cost of it up. I'm going to see if I can get vouchers with some points I've saved up too so it won't set me back much if anything.

I've passed on the liberty gwp. I might do it near Christmas time when I have gifts to buy.

@Drogonssmile

They are lush!!!! I want Ruby.. Looks sooo damn comfortable!

Writersblock2 · 27/04/2020 21:22

@winterisstillcoming -- that's the one I have been eyeing up (with the short hair attachment). I'm planning on growing my hair (maybe) so I am trying to justify it that way, but I am still unsure. However, I have been lusting after it since it came out...

Sandals lots of sandals !!! No idea why I’m shielded so probably won’t even go outside this summer . But they make me smile

Amfeelingfline · 28/04/2020 08:46

Garnier banana shampoo and conditioner (sounds a bit weird but smells lovely and has sorted my dandruff, which I have been struggling with for ever as I have a very sensitive scalp), some soaper super shower gel, a couple of baking mould for bread, and flour from doves farm....I am now lusting after a bread cloche but they are in the £100 region and cannot afford that so will carry on hinting about them until my birthday 😂

Queenie24 · 28/04/2020 08:52

I've ordered my back packing rucksack, tent and sleeping bag. Its something my husband and I have discussed for quite some time so now was the time ready for when we can go. Ive tested the tent out in the garden its fab

Had a worrying email that the greenhouse is totally OOS but it was a mistake.
Also some jumpsuits from Sainsbury's but to be delivered not click and collect. Had to collect something from the Argos, didn't like it.

Shark hoover and a dessert bullet

Lordfrontpaw · 28/04/2020 10:39

I have one question - actually two:

How/why do you hoover a shark?
Whats a dessert bullet?

MulberryPeony · 28/04/2020 13:02

What is prompting folk to buy hoovers? Did you not own a hoover before Smile

Lordfrontpaw · 28/04/2020 13:13

I suspect everyone is bored they are hoovering every day, so the poor hoovers are keeling over.

whatagonnahappennow · 28/04/2020 13:15

A new over the shoulder back from ASOS that has been out of stock for weeks! I got a notification that it was in stock at 4am this morning when I was awake for some reason! Ordered it and it went out of stock again! Fate!

whatagonnahappennow · 28/04/2020 13:15

OwlFox · 28/04/2020 13:20

7 new bird feeders and 12kg of seed. To be fair the feed is a usual purchase but my handmade feeders are finally giving up the ghost. Usually I would remake more but as a treat I purchased new 'proper' feeders Smile

Lizzieee2727 · 28/04/2020 13:22

Gin.

Husband treated me to Aviation gin and I bought a bottle of a Colombian gin.

caperplips · 28/04/2020 13:36

A very beautiful ring which is currently being made for me - am already married so not engagement / wedding it's a cocktail ring for my right hand - am delirious with excitement

caperplips · 28/04/2020 13:38

@Shockers can you tell me what plants you bought for a shady border as we have one of those too and I'd like to make it all lush and green, but hopefully some that flower too - thanks
