To ask if you've treated yourself to something as a pick me up right now, and what it is

So We're all stuck in as we know. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo, and DH wfh so most of my day is chaos with one millisecond of the day to myself. Oh and its my birthday this week (woooo).
I've not spent any money of late as DH does our food shop (I cover all bills and budgeted some spending money for mat leave). I am still in mat clothes thanks to not being able to get new ones I can fit in but I am comfy and reluctant to have to return items. I am generally not someone that spends money on myself, it mostly goes on the kids.

But like most, I am low and anxious, and want to 'treat' myself but no idea where to start in the current climate.

So has anyone treated themselves and if so what, why and did it work??

I treated myself to a new dyson cordless. I'm getting divorced and the stxh has earmarked our current one for himself (after all he paid for it🙄) so y ordered a nice shiny newer model ready for my new house away from the twat. Makes me smile every time I look at the box (also has extra tools ha 😁) oh and a whole bulk box of Cadbury chocolate bars from Amazon just for me 😋

I keep coming back to this thread but I'm hoping to finish the month out of my overdraft for the first time in about 2 years so must be strong, must be strong, must...

Some arty stuff from etsy. I can't wait for it to arrive so that I can learn to paint during lockdown!

Isawamagpie · 21/04/2020 13:16

2 x woodwick candles (don't bother with black cherry, VERY disappointed with scent, wouldn't usually spend so much on candles for myself either! Still awaiting the other one)
A face mask and lots of bit and pieces from Holland and barret... also awaiting delivery (3 weeks so far!)
Some trousers and a top - mostly because I split my trousers from the lockdown weight gain Blush
Some bath salts, because I heard some woo about them helping weight loss Blush

pollywobble · 21/04/2020 23:02

I put some nice ginger biscuits in my asda shop, they didn't appear but an unrequested bottle of gin did. That's what I call an acceptable substitute GinSmile

Shockers · 22/04/2020 10:53

I’ve spent a fortune on plants for a shady border. I’m lugging rocks over there now, to make it look lovely and mossy and ferny.

Mary46 · 22/04/2020 11:54

Love Christie towels. I have a nice Next candle going light it tonight. Order sandals online size 9 so nice treat.
Think you need a few treats now and again.
Great thread.

Busymum45 · 22/04/2020 23:16

I thought I should save money but now want to treat myself after reading thisSmile

VetOnCall · 23/04/2020 00:14

I need to stop 'treating myself'! I do tons of exercise and have gone a bit mad on new fitness stuff and spent about $2000 (Canadian, about £1200) in the last few weeks to get some new gear for the summer.

A Garmin Fenix 6 Pro GPS watch
2x silicone straps for the Garmin, one tasteful 'lakeside blue' and one bright orange
On running shoes
Lululemon gym/running leggings and sports bra
Sweaty Betty gym/running leggings, gym top and sports bra
Patagonia hiking/running leggings and trucker-style cap
Keen hiking sandals as they were on sale
New Ruffwear leads for the dogs

The Garmin accounts for vast majority of the cost. I love it and will use it a lot and for a very long time.

And I'll stop... I promise...

Destinysdaughter · 24/04/2020 05:40

@readingismycardio ooh what is your virtual Zumba membership please? I'm really missing my Zumba classes!

readingismycardio · 24/04/2020 05:51

@Destinysdaughter Hi! My zumba trainer is from Spain, I met her when I lived there 7 years ago or so. She only speaks Spanish though. If it helps I can put you in touch with her. However, I know another zumba trainer - fb her - jeimy bueno, I think she s doing zoom zumba classes too, and she speaks English (lives In Florida)!

Destinysdaughter · 24/04/2020 06:03

Thanks!

I've bought lots of lovely things from Laura Ashley and Debenhams as they both have sales on, including some huge furry cushions and a beautiful vase which I filled with flowers from the garden yesterday!

Destinysdaughter · 24/04/2020 06:07

I had a £25 John Lewis voucher which I was worried I wouldn't get to spend but since you can use it online I treated myself to these beautiful mugs!

CookieDoughKid · 24/04/2020 06:17

A box from stitchfix. For one have someone coordinate a set of clothes for me 😁. If anyone wants a discount please PM me.

Nebble · 24/04/2020 06:50

@CustardySergeant I work from home and have regular deliveries from DPD, in the past if I wasn’t there to sign for it then he’d take a picture to prove he’d left it, that’s what he does now as I can’t sign, I’d be saying to DOD you want to claim as you didn’t sign, Unless he can prove by picture taken, I think they are supposed to do that, call them out, cheek of it !
