To ask if you've treated yourself to something as a pick me up right now, and what it is

So We're all stuck in as we know. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo, and DH wfh so most of my day is chaos with one millisecond of the day to myself. Oh and its my birthday this week (woooo).
I've not spent any money of late as DH does our food shop (I cover all bills and budgeted some spending money for mat leave). I am still in mat clothes thanks to not being able to get new ones I can fit in but I am comfy and reluctant to have to return items. I am generally not someone that spends money on myself, it mostly goes on the kids.

But like most, I am low and anxious, and want to 'treat' myself but no idea where to start in the current climate.

So has anyone treated themselves and if so what, why and did it work??

I've just ordered a pair of silk pyjamas. They were reduced - reduced! - to £84!! I know that's a ridiculous price for a pair of PJs, but I bought a pair (in a different colour) in last year's sale and they've brought me endless pleasure - I feel happier every time I wear them. I feel like that's a good enough reason to buy them - plus they feel like a proper "treat". Something I want, rather than need.

bitterbuddhist · 16/04/2020 20:20

More PJ recommendations and links, PLEASE.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/04/2020 20:35

I've ordered these in blue (which are now out of stock online, so glad I got them while I did) - I already own the pink.

They're honestly just the loveliest thing to wear.

olbndansmummy · 16/04/2020 21:20

@Mascotte I use the nescafe dolce gusto machine, it's so simple to use

Holothane · 16/04/2020 21:31

Bit like my feather duvets, a luxury which will help eliminate night sweats, I loved my feather duvet as a teenager,.

Queenie8 · 16/04/2020 21:51

@bitterBuddhist Cyberjammies for pj's. Expensive, but oh so comfy. Don't ever tumble dry them.

PurpleDaisies · 16/04/2020 21:52

Second cyberjammies. They’re fantastic. Great sales too.

lostguider · 16/04/2020 21:58

A bottle of Vodka!

TiddleTaddleTat · 16/04/2020 22:04

Mainly treated myself to ... saving up money for the other side of this.

Like many people we aren't in a position to buy anything much due to cash worries.

However I have spent the equivalent of what I'd usually spend on petrol for commuting on some second hand books. I count these as essential btw. Hopeful, escapist books to keep me off the news and nourish my mind.

rainbowsandrage · 17/04/2020 07:31

I didn’t think I had but now that I’ve come to write this I can see that I have 😬 A swing bench for the garden, lounge furniture for the garden, new fencing for the garden, Disney+ for the kids, a vax carpet cleaner (3 kids and two dogs have ruined it),a pair of Saint & Sofia Camden pants and a pair of Converse.

KizzyWayfarer · 17/04/2020 07:56

Plants are my weakness! I thought I’d not got any more space for anything in my two little flower beds but then one of my new plants died (combination of slugs and cat crapping on it) so I need to buy something similar, and have decided I can just squeeze something else in next to the rosemary so have been browsing... Also I’ve just ordered a plant that has evening scented flowers in summer even though I don’t have a proper pot to put it in yet. I’ll upgrade to a slightly larger flower pot and hope it’s happy.

YgritteSnow · 17/04/2020 08:56

@chocolatedeficitdisorder I've been after one of those for ages! Where did you get it for that price please?

StraightOuttaCamden · 17/04/2020 09:23

So far, a Neom triple wick candle, BAM socks, a pair of EVA Birkenstocks and a Ninja blender which is really for the kids as we were supposed to be on holiday right now but as it was cancelled they can now make their own frozen drinks and pretend to be in the beach. I'm also waiting for a delivery from Thought clothing.

I'm considering a set of Le Creuset pans in Volcanic - but I'm just not sure, because I'm lazy and don't like washing up by hand.

Ifonlywecouldwishuponastar · 17/04/2020 10:40

I've just spent £60 on makeup. Blush

dellacucina · 17/04/2020 10:52

Update: more toys and crafts for DD, including a 6 pack of Elmer's glue and some stamps that she used for 5 minutes

Additional ink cartridges for the new printer

Some cleaning brushes

Stockpiles of dishwasher soap since I have to go to a certain huge supermarket to get it

An ice cube tray

Frozen 2

Am considering getting a used car to transport DD to her father's house

Pinkarsedfly · 17/04/2020 11:02

A table tennis set. DH and I had loads of fun yesterday and it was a surprisingly good workout.

Cheap as chips from Amazon.

Iknewyouwerewaitingforme · 17/04/2020 11:22

Lots of nice wine

Food to make a takeaway style meals at weekends i.e. Chinese like our favourite Chinese does/pizza and ingredients for the yummy dips like Franco Manca does

Just ordered an eye cream and new foundation from Estee Lauder- they have current promo where you get a free full size perfume if you spend over £60- so also have this to look forwards too

I light lots of scented candles in beautiful candle holders around fireplace and watch a movie on sofa every other night, always feels like a treat

MaggieAndHopey · 17/04/2020 11:24

A Garmin Forerunner 45. It does have the downside that now I fully know how shit I am at running.

FraughtwithGin · 17/04/2020 11:30

I bought a pair of beautiful Erdem trousers.
They were eye-wateringly expensive and, even reduced by 50% in the sale, are still VERY expensive, but they are gorgeous and can be dressed up or down, so highly practical - well that is my excuse and I am sticking to it ;-)

kayteep · 17/04/2020 12:18

I’ve ordered myself a gift set from Bettys and some Fat Rascals!

Paininmyface · 17/04/2020 14:56

Oooh @kayteep do you eat or wear a fat rascal?????

Paininmyface · 17/04/2020 14:56

Ah, it's a rockcake 😂😂😂😂😂

kayteep · 17/04/2020 15:07

Hahaha yeah they are soooo good. Betty's is an old fashioned tea rooms where everything is so good. Highly recommend a visit if your ever in York or Harrogate!

IHateMyPassportPhoto · 17/04/2020 15:19

Some new Birkenstocks in the Office sale.

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 17/04/2020 18:07

@YgritteSnow

@chocolatedeficitdisorder I've been after one of those for ages! Where did you get it for that price please?

It was £100 from Amazon. I came across it in a review on the SORTEDfood Youtube channel and really fancied it.
