So We're all stuck in as we know. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo, and DH wfh so most of my day is chaos with one millisecond of the day to myself. Oh and its my birthday this week (woooo).
I've not spent any money of late as DH does our food shop (I cover all bills and budgeted some spending money for mat leave). I am still in mat clothes thanks to not being able to get new ones I can fit in but I am comfy and reluctant to have to return items. I am generally not someone that spends money on myself, it mostly goes on the kids.

But like most, I am low and anxious, and want to 'treat' myself but no idea where to start in the current climate.

So has anyone treated themselves and if so what, why and did it work??

@stayingaliveisawayoflife- I hope you get it sorted. It appears that a lot of crooks are taking advantage of the current situation.

Blah1881 · 16/04/2020 08:32

I’m an eBay addict 😊. Purchases this month include- Portmeirion plates, earrings from Sicily made from volcanic rock, pinafore dress from Whistles, seeds, bare root strawberry plants and a vintage 1970s pendant necklace

TheGlitterFairy · 16/04/2020 08:33

New clothes from Boden, wine, lots of face stuff as felt my skin care needed an overhaul. Would like some lights for that garden and new flip flops next!

MagpieMomma · 16/04/2020 08:37

@Bridecilla I only heard about them being in financial difficulties after id places my order, and I had to return one item, so hoping I get the refund on that!

aquashiv · 16/04/2020 08:40

A new pair of really expensive running shoes half price from Ebay.

BeansOnToast4T · 16/04/2020 08:44

A new steam cleaner!!! My old one was on the way out so I thought this would be a good time to replace it as I have plenty of time to use it now.

kasm · 16/04/2020 09:00

I have bought myself a new garden reclining seat....hope the sun stays and a watering can for my new grow your own stuff I always fancied lol. I am a self employed jewellery maker and what I have seen a big increase in is folk buying silver crosses and slight increase in earrings.

dementedma

I bought a couple of duvet sets from Argos (of all places) which fit the description of what you're after.

Bought a new pair of trousers for work so hardly a treat. I'm keeping my powder dry until payday when I'll be able to see how much I've saved this month... I'm thinking of one of those 100 Stars robes.

spottedbadger · 16/04/2020 09:13

A pair of bright, colourful deck chairs from Argos. New mum here also so not sure how much time I will get to spend in them but they will certainly fit and I can position them in the garden so that I can see them from the window while expressing Grin

BossAssBitch · 16/04/2020 09:31

I've bought a few lovely things from John Lewis that make me happy Smile

Some very large red wine and lovely prosecco glasses

A gorgeous velvety heavy throw that is like a weighted blanket

Pyjamas..I don't sleep in them but like to wear them watching TV in the evening

I bought some F&B paint to paint my en suite, kitchen and main bathroom

Some lovely thick trees to plant around my garden to give us total privacy

A large paddling pool with a filter pump Grin

New collars for my dogs Smile

Sleepingbunnies11 · 16/04/2020 10:17

@aquashiv please could you clue me in on the shoes?

anewdispensation · 16/04/2020 10:35

Those of you buying loungewear and joggers, can you please post links? I have been after some decent ones for a long time

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 16/04/2020 10:50

40 minutes later in my bank and my card has been stopped and one transaction refunded. There is one left that I will try to get sorted once it has stopped being a pending transaction! The bank said there is a lot of fraud happening at the moment so please tell everyone you know to be careful purchasing online and use a credit card where possible. Also check your banking as it can be an overnight splurge of transactions.

HarriR · 16/04/2020 10:59

Chocolate for Easter and deli marshmallows from a shop that's still open in Largs and delivering. All yummy. It's ok to treat yourself sometimes 💙🌈 you time is important too 🌈

Bl3ss3dm0m · 16/04/2020 11:19

An expensive (to me) handbag, not because it was expensive, just because I love it - I am not saying what brand because a lot of you are mean about this brand 😭

Ablemaybel · 16/04/2020 11:53

Arriving today, a pair of cordless ear buds/phones for when I'm out running.

drspouse · 16/04/2020 12:12

I just treated the DCs to a load of clothes in the Smafolk sale, they have surprise bags that are usually full of nice stuff and if they aren't I find I can sell them on!

DeeplyDippy76 · 16/04/2020 12:13

As I’m a bit of an online shopaholic anyway I didn’t need encouraging to support retailers! Have recently bought DD a wooden bunnyoh playhouse with a slide, craft stuff and face paints- as an only child and being 3 she’s upset at not being able to play with friends etc and doesn’t fully understand it all.
And for myself , a new Breathe duvet from house of Fraser (wrecked my current one by squashing it into a too small washer 😭) , lots of Frenchic paint from a local stockist- addicted and haven’t even tried it yet. My front door is getting a revamp and have other projects planned! And compost and plants.

MsMcGill · 16/04/2020 12:25

A 100% silk shirt with Valium Pill polka dots from sark london (for jazzing up my work zoom calls) and a silk pillowcase (silk is everything) from Jasmine Silk and does a Veet upper lip wax kit count as luxury? LOL xx

Sexnotgender · 16/04/2020 12:29

A bottle of Tanqueray Sevilla gin and 6 bars of Tony Chocolonely chocolate 😂

cologne4711 · 16/04/2020 12:37

I bought a turbo trainer just before the lockdown which was very expensive so I can't really justify any other pickmeups. I have been eating quite a few creme eggs though. In fact thinking about it, our chocolate stash is looking rather sad now. Might have to add to it next time I go out to the shops.

JenNtonic · 16/04/2020 12:45

@Sleepingbunnies11 😂😂😂 Fabulous

Proseccorella · 16/04/2020 13:14

Sunloungers. A few mini perfume samples or decants from eBay, as it's nice to get fun little packages in the post. I'll treat myself to a full bottle of perfume for the summer once I've decided from my samples 😊

Normaknowall · 16/04/2020 13:23

A new Bluetooth speaker so I can dance the excess wine and gin off.
Subscription to Disney plus.
Online Italian lessons to stretch my brain, plan a holiday for when we come out the other side
A new lippy for the daily brief encounter with the best looking bloke I’ve ever met at an appropriate but disappointing distance, in the communal garden.

Hadjab · 16/04/2020 14:54

@ScarlettDarling they do indeed! My ring has been shipped, waiting with bated breath for it to turn up 🥰
