To ask if you've treated yourself to something as a pick me up right now, and what it is

So We're all stuck in as we know. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo, and DH wfh so most of my day is chaos with one millisecond of the day to myself. Oh and its my birthday this week (woooo).
I've not spent any money of late as DH does our food shop (I cover all bills and budgeted some spending money for mat leave). I am still in mat clothes thanks to not being able to get new ones I can fit in but I am comfy and reluctant to have to return items. I am generally not someone that spends money on myself, it mostly goes on the kids.

But like most, I am low and anxious, and want to 'treat' myself but no idea where to start in the current climate.

So has anyone treated themselves and if so what, why and did it work??

@scout2016 they are Docs! They are incredibly soft and I have quite wide feet.

Mummadeeze · 15/04/2020 20:40

I have treated myself to three new board games, six new novels, a jigsaw puzzle, some face masks and a dress. My Mum sent me a fleece hooded blanket and my friend sent me some bootie slippers. I also bought a bat and ball set for the garden and a cake tin. Have got pleasure out of everything so far!

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 15/04/2020 20:40

Oh and they are on sale on the Docs website.

CrocodilesCry · 15/04/2020 20:41

Some nice mugs for tea!

Also bought a hoodie when it was a bit colder

Leighwalk · 15/04/2020 20:42

Two really cheap things!
One a bottle of coconut smelling body lotion - makes me think of my holidays every morning when I apply post shower.
The other is a random bag of 'liquorice sweets' - that have turned out to be exactly the same as my childhood favourite BLACK midget gems!
I've tried so many bags of midget gems - just to find the 'childhood tasting black ones' and they have never been the same. ....until now!

This is a dangerous thread. have now been on the Brand Alley site and bought some expensive (for me) moisturisers. They better make me look fabulous. Still on the hunt for a new duvet cover though. just cannot find one I like...
Not garish, not geometric patterns, not animals, not a busy pattern, not frilly...want smart but different.

A Peloton spin bike, extravagant but I’ve wanted one for ages and what better time now the gyms are closed. I’ve already downloaded the app and have been doing their strength and yoga classes. Amazing!

StudentMummy20 · 15/04/2020 21:07

I have spent far too much money today Grin

wonderstuff · 15/04/2020 21:13

@CustardySergeant I'm so glad you got your stuff!
I've got some bamboo yoga pants, I was in bed for a week first week of lockdown and I was so uncomfortable in jeans after a week in PJs, I might live in bamboo trousers forever more.
I've also been drinking too much wine..

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 15/04/2020 21:15

A new couch. I did buy it on credit because I'm not sure how badly this will affect our finances, but I had been considering for a while, even before lockdown. Saw one I liked a while ago and thought, fuck it. Ordered it over the phone last week 😂

Fluffybutter · 15/04/2020 21:18

I treated myself to a dyson hot/cold fan. I’ve been Toying with buying it for a few years and I thought what the heck. So it’s in my living room tonight.

Alyic · 15/04/2020 21:35

My holiday next month is cancelled, I'm ordering Susie Watson curtains and bedspread with the money I would have spent. Susie Watson unfortunately never do discounts.

welshbaby2009 · 15/04/2020 21:36

My hubby bought us some Gumbies flip flops. I absolutely love them. They are so comfortable and quite reasonable too

wontletmelogin · 15/04/2020 21:37

@Fluffybutter we got it on their finance and get it discounted monthly with our life insurance too. Plus I’m cancelling my gym membership so all in all not a huge monthly outgoing!

ToftyAC · 15/04/2020 21:38

A bottle of Roku gin (Japanese). Tis delicious and a huge treat at £30 a bottle Gin Grin
