So We're all stuck in as we know. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo, and DH wfh so most of my day is chaos with one millisecond of the day to myself. Oh and its my birthday this week (woooo).
I've not spent any money of late as DH does our food shop (I cover all bills and budgeted some spending money for mat leave). I am still in mat clothes thanks to not being able to get new ones I can fit in but I am comfy and reluctant to have to return items. I am generally not someone that spends money on myself, it mostly goes on the kids.

But like most, I am low and anxious, and want to 'treat' myself but no idea where to start in the current climate.

So has anyone treated themselves and if so what, why and did it work??

Animal crossing and a switch lite. Technically they were for Mother’s Day but were bought with lockdown in mind.

I have bought an Apple Pencil so I can draw on my iPad. Love it! Bought with the petrol money windfall from not driving anywhere.

We have treated ourselves to a record player to relive our youth, play all our vinyl that's been in the loft for 21 years and gobsmack our 12 and 7 year old about life before spotify

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 15/04/2020 18:28

Absolute loads, stuff I should have bought but didn’t have time to think about. New crockery to replace old chipped stuff, spring coats that fit the kids in next size up.

And some stuff to help lockdown: children workbooks, reading books, garden stuff, games

NeverTwerkNaked · 15/04/2020 18:30

Not much, but i just got a payrise so treated myself to a few bits from independent shops including a very cheerful necklace from Tatty Devine that I have wanted for a while, and a lovely soft jumper.

@Sleepingbunnies11 Hi 👋 🙂 hmmm I wish !!! 😁.
I go on their website and a lot of the things they're selling for £22.95 are £10 on there !

Ooh and I compare it to the Superdrug (usually "buy one, 2nd half price) and Boots (better than 1/2 price on selected Nip&Fab) offers that they have going on and just try my luck if I'm honest 😁🙂

They're always chopping and changing and then releasing new "lines". Then they seem to discontinue an absolute legend of a product but then reduce it on their site.

So I search daily and also loiter on EBay for "beauty box/ beauty bundles" or "unwanted gift nip&fab" so have found some bargains there too !!! He who dares and this time next year (I'll be a non wrinkillionaire ) 🤞😳😄

We are not even allowed out for daily exercise in Spain so I really want an exercise bike that I can put in the living room but I haven’t bought one yet Grin

Zoejj77 · 15/04/2020 18:41

REN skincare it’s lovely

allfurcoatnoknickers · 15/04/2020 18:46

@NeverTwerkNaked Chaser! not sure you can get them in the uk? but they're fab. So soft, and their perfect weight for schlumping about indoors.

runthatbymeagain · 15/04/2020 18:47

I treated my mum to a silver memory keeper locket from Lily Blanche that holds 6 photos. Expensive, but she loves it as it has all the grandchildren inside and she can't see them just now. She's delighted with it. I'm now thinking of getting one myself. I'd rather spend on something lasting than fritter just now.

SpyApp · 15/04/2020 18:48

Solar lights for the new decking area that I've cleared a mountain of heavy soil and rocks to make way for. Sunshine in my garden at lastGrin
Can't actually get the decking kits till after lockdown but I'll be good and ready for them.

Partner bought himself a massive hamper of traditional sweeties xD

Sleepingbunnies11 · 15/04/2020 18:59

@JenNtonic argh I’m far too click/browse lazy to do that, I’m a sucker for Birchbox collections of magical skincare. Nip and fab wipes felt great while I used them though.

I have bought a nice dress from COS in the sale and some B vitamins 🙂

DP has bought a tarp for the pond he is digging. He has dug a pond before- during the Brexit referendum. Seems a proportionate reaction to national crises. 🐟

Uptheshard · 15/04/2020 19:00

bambinaballerina · 15/04/2020 19:00

A website, BeautyAlley I think, is having some great sales. I got a serum for £10 (original price was £60 more or less) and a moisturiser for £13 (original price around £50) and some face masks for £11. I normally buy The Ordinary and very cheap products, so it was a very nice change.
