Thoughts on Joe Browns clothes?

Midsommar · 11/04/2020 01:45

Cannot sleep as my body clock seems to have broken.
Browsing online clothes stores and an advert has popped up for Joe Browns. Never bought from there before but the clothes look quirky, which I like.
Anyone got any opinions on it; the quality and value for money, etc?
Probably not an AIBU but please let me off, it's almost 2am...Grin

I bought some stuff several years ago. Quality was variable but generally fairly good. Use the individual size guides for each item though as they can vary quite a bit.

OlaEliza · 11/04/2020 01:49

I love a bit of JB.

OldGreyBoots · 11/04/2020 01:49

They're probably my favourite store, sometimes a little expensive for tshirt quality fabric depending on what you order, sometimes the buttons aren't stitched on as firmly as I'd like but in general I love them. I normally wait for sales though! I often go a size bigger than my usual but not always necessary.

LifeIsAPotato · 11/04/2020 01:54

Love them, I've not been disappointed by any of my purchases Smile

endofthelinefinally · 11/04/2020 01:56

I have a couple of dresses from them. I like them.

Gingerkittykat · 11/04/2020 01:57

I like them, quirky and good quality but can be pretty expensive.

I think they are sized pretty generously so maybe try a size down.

Geepipe · 11/04/2020 02:07

I love joe browns clothes i always get good quality and stylish.

flirtygirl · 11/04/2020 04:55

Quirky with a side order of frump.

Saying that my daughter's favourite coat is from there, 8 years old, brilliant quality and style.

TypingError · 11/04/2020 05:26

I got a couple of tops and the fabric and manufacture were excellent. Also generous sizing.

startrek90 · 11/04/2020 05:27

I love Joe browns. I just can't afford it. My MiL bought some gorgeous boots from there, they were expensive but amazing quality and still look brand new after a couple of years and worn every day in winter.

Runningjayne · 11/04/2020 05:33

I think the dresses are very pretty but dont quite fit right making them look frumpy

funmummy48 · 11/04/2020 06:42

I think they’re very frumpy and over-embellished. I see a lot of fairly elderly ladies wearing JB clothes. Definitely not for me.

Whatwedontknow · 11/04/2020 07:04

I have quite a few JB dresses and boots and two coats. They have lasted years. Most of their items are too quirky for me but every so often I see something I just have to have. I think they can be pricey so I try not to pay full price. They do send offers. I‘ve had to go up a size depending on the cut or style.

Standrewsschool · 11/04/2020 07:06

I love their clothes.

Whatwedontknow · 11/04/2020 07:06

@funmummy48 define fairly elderly Grin

whatswithtodaytoday · 11/04/2020 07:09

I like them but they sadly look frumpy on me. Lovely on others though. I'm not sure what it is, they just don't seem to sit right on me.

I also think the quality isn't great for the price.

DameXanaduBramble · 11/04/2020 07:12

Frumpy and printy.

throwaway201809 · 11/04/2020 07:17

You have to be so careful as lots of their stuff looks so frumpy. Quality is okay but on the over priced sized. Some of their stuff looks very cross dressy!

Socksey · 11/04/2020 07:19

Love them....
Sizing is variable and goes from true to size to rather large... so two 12s may not both be the same size in different styles....
Clothes are quirky and last well.... they wash well and don't lose their shape in the wash

Socksey · 11/04/2020 07:21

Be careful if you're short (like me) as some of the styles can be a little old looking.... but once you get a feel for what suits you in terms of shape etc they are good.... I like them for day and workwear....

VideographybyLouBloom · 11/04/2020 07:22

Horrible. Trying to be boho but ending up as bag lady

ivfbabymomma1 · 11/04/2020 07:23

My mum gets a lot of her clothes from there. She's 64 so take from that what you will 🤣

couchlover · 11/04/2020 07:27

I have a joe browns dress for work and I love it. I got it in the sale though, I wouldn't have paid full price.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 11/04/2020 07:29

I want to like their clothes but struggle as they go OTT with the detailing.

Minimalist they are not!

Sheslikethewind007 · 11/04/2020 07:30

I use to like it but in the last few catalogues I cant see anything you like. I found it all too fussy/garish.
