Is it just every week we are in lockdown or is that it forever and we have become a nation of clappers? Do I need to move?

I'm quite prepared to clap but whether you think people like me are moaning about something unreasonable or not, I'm certainly not going to go and join in when people are banging on metal objects, letting off fireworks and screaming.

The level of noise is ridiculous and more importantly, to me, I can't leave my dog in the house on her own now I've seen how distressed she was by the noise tonight.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 09/04/2020 23:28

some fecker even got his trumpet out

Ahah! We still have a bloody trumpet
That
Might get DS off his Xbox

Thisisworsethananticpated · 09/04/2020 23:31

Oh for fucks sake

The fucking dogs ! Am fed up of how dogs are getting special treatment during COVID 19 . Seriously , extra walks and now
Don’t clap because of a DOG

indemMUND · 09/04/2020 23:31

The people who went out and about a few weeks ago not giving a shit are the ones out clapping on their doorsteps here. The panic buyers and the spreaders. Lucky enough to not have suffered regardless of their behaviour. Even now thinking the rules don't apply to them day to day, but watching and noting the neighbours who aren't showing the appreciation now because they have decided to show their support for one minute a week. It's scary how entitled people really are.

Alconleigh · 09/04/2020 23:31

We have a phrase at work. Don't clap and cheer, just add money. About sums it up.

LoveFameTragedy · 09/04/2020 23:34

Our street was lovely. Lots of noise for a couple of minutes then everyone happy and back indoors. It was joyful. Lots of family members and closest friends are front line NHS and very far away. It helped our worry about them enormously. (I realise that is not logical!).

Smellbellina · 09/04/2020 23:40

Fucking hell, and you’re judging others for being judged! 😂

Smellbellina · 09/04/2020 23:40

*judgey, I meant judgey!

pigsDOfly · 09/04/2020 23:41

No I'm not clapping because people aren't clapping. If they were clapping I'd be out there clapping too. They're letting off fireworks, banging and screaming. I don't want to be in that amount of noise.

It may be a 'fucking dog' to you, but any living creature that is made fearful by extreme noise shouldn't be left to suffer in my opinion.

Special treatment and extra walks for dogs? Really? Not in England there isn't.

countbackfromten · 10/04/2020 00:02

I’m an NHS doctor in intensive care. Last two weeks I have been at work for it and missed it. Tonight I was in my flat (start nights tomorrow) and it was actually really quite lovely and emotional. It may not change anyway, there may be better ways to support the NHS but it is a couple of nice minutes of unity and nice for all those putting their lives at risk to be thought of. Especially as I know my mum and dad who are miles away were out clapping at the same time as me.

Stonerosie67 · 10/04/2020 00:14

The people who say there is pot and pan banging, fireworks etc... is it just rough areas that this is mainly happening in, as it strikes me as...low class behaviour.

Haha....was going to write something a touch more articulate but can't be arsed, so fuck off with your ridiculous snobbery, you pretentious bore will have to suffice!

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 10/04/2020 00:19

Same lol, sometimes you start writing something more detailed and then press delete as really can't be arsed and just post your Hyacinth Bucket mental image instead Grin
Well that was me anyway lol

Stonerosie67 · 10/04/2020 00:26

Definitely, Willis 😁😁😁

Smellbellina · 10/04/2020 00:46

@countbackfromten I think you summed it up really nicely.
And thank you, for everything you are doing
A few other NHS workers have commented on this thread, thank you to all of you too.
As I said up thread, my DC are too young to vote or put their money where their mouth is as it where (that will all come in time) but we have talked about what you are doing and to them you are real life hero’s. A clap is all they have to give right now, but it is meant with with real awe and gratitude.

TVaddict1982 · 10/04/2020 00:51

I totally understand. Things like this make me cringe if I’m Honest

QuestionableMouse · 10/04/2020 00:53

I wouldn't call my area rough.

Dogs. Cats. Small children. People with PTSD. Other people who suffer from sensory overload. People who work shifts and may need to be getting some sleep (including NHS workers). Any of them worth showing some vague consideration to?

My road (naice area) had clapping, banging on pots and pans, some arse sounding his car horn for five minutes, and some fucking firecrackers. It's turning into the worst aspects of Bonfire Night and I hate it.

Shortfeet · 10/04/2020 01:08

I love it !
And I am an NHS worker

Lex234 · 10/04/2020 03:26

I think its a nice gesture, the only thing is its not just the clapping-the horns, whooping pot banging, bells, music, fireworks...not to be a kill joy, but really tough day yesterday and went to bed at 7pm, it actually woke me up it was so loud!

ASimpleLampoon · 10/04/2020 04:46

@Mmsnet101 That is rubbish for you, I'm so sorry. Come to the coughing if anyone does that again.

ASimpleLampoon · 10/04/2020 04:46

to the door coughing!

PhilCornwall1 · 10/04/2020 04:49

The ships in the docks here sounded their horns too. The clapping I couldn't hear, but as soon as the ships started, it was like a fucking air raid siren. I thought on top of this bloody virus a sodding war had broken out too!!!

Spartak · 10/04/2020 04:54

The first week of clapping, I was at home with the virus feeling shit in bed.

Five minutes of a drum, walloping of saucepans with a wooden spoon, fireworks and therefore every dog within a mile radius barking nearly tipped me over the edge.

nakedavengerreturns · 10/04/2020 04:57

Narcissistic nonsense. It's embarrassing and cringy
