Just that really.

I wouldn’t bother. Surprised they have such high outgoings who knew!

Mammyloveswine · 08/04/2020 22:42

4.99 a month for bloody Mumsnet?? Good lord! No chance am I paying that!

I used to go on babycentre back in the day, that was ok. No idea if it's still around though!

Also used to love Reddit...

WakeAndBake · 08/04/2020 22:42

I started lurking on mumsnet when the guardian went totally to shit. There were fewer and fewer articles to comment on and the Waddya section was closed. That was a real shame as there was quite a good little community there.

I only just started posting here out of lockdown boredom and the desire to engage in some debates and discussions. If MN shuts down then I have no idea where I would go!

MarshaBradyo · 08/04/2020 22:43

Someone will start a new one, I’m sure when mn started it didn’t cost much nothing like it does now.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 08/04/2020 22:43

I fluctuate between
hoping MN would completely just ditch and down and cease to exist

  1. I'd get more done lol
  2. I's not the place I came to years ago. Much more toxic.

and thinking it's OK.

Places I go when I'm not here

Instagram (pretty pictures and escapism)

Mental Floss (I still have something to read and I may learn something lol)
Facebook (Although it's doing my head in a little at the minute, may have to start muting people if they don't stop negative blahhhhh)

Charley50 · 08/04/2020 22:44

I'd try not to go anywhere else, and get my real life back instead. I spend far too much time here.

KillerofMen · 08/04/2020 22:45

I'd probably read books. Or, you know, twitter.

TheMustressMhor · 08/04/2020 22:47

Okay......…..not Quora, either.

I have just spent ten minutes of my life on Quora.

I was bewildered.

PickAChew · 08/04/2020 22:48

Reddit. Though it can be bloody brutal.

Nanny0gg · 08/04/2020 22:49

How does Reddit work?

I looked on there and wouldn't know where to start!

PickAChew · 08/04/2020 22:50

My ex's other ex found him on quora. Have concluded it's a forum for bullshitters.

willowhazel · 08/04/2020 22:50

If Reddit's brutal then MNers should feel quite a home!

Haffiana · 08/04/2020 22:55

Pistonheads.

BikeRunSki · 08/04/2020 22:59

Singletrack

Mountain biking forum, but like MN and parenting, it’s branched off into all sorts of other topics.

Sarahlou63 · 08/04/2020 23:00

The Mock Turtle (if it still exists)

Juanmorebeer · 08/04/2020 23:00

Reddit. But I've wasted 12 years of my life here so far so I'll stay

EatShitBoswell · 08/04/2020 23:00
  • How does Reddit work?

Me too @Nanny0gg!

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 08/04/2020 23:00

Pistonheads
I keep getting told to "go to pistonheads*
What even is that?
I daren't even google as it's always said in a "you should go there" and not in a good way lol

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 08/04/2020 23:04

I hope I'd have the strength to go cold turkey and give up these sorts of sites completely. Mumsnet is an addictive habit but ultimately it offers an ersatz version of connection that leaves you feeling unsatisfied, like chewing gum when what's really required is proper nourishment!

SecondaryBurnzzz · 08/04/2020 23:07

I really like it here, AIBU can be scary, but there are some very nice boards where I like to hang out from time to time, menopause, gardening, homes and property, the dog house, the archers, westminders. I don't have a huge amount of time to spend on here, maybe an hour an evening depending on my ability to sleep, but I always find a nice selection of sensible and good humoured people. I also like the interaction from mumsnet and that they are reachable if necessary. I used to love the babyledweaning site but never netmums (emojis and tickers too annoying) and I'm not interested enough in babies/kids anymore to find a new parenting site. MN may be flawed but it feels like home to me, and I will happily pay to keep it going.

managedmis · 08/04/2020 23:09

I'd probably start reading again

LooQoo · 08/04/2020 23:22

@Queenlish

Try British Problems and Casual UK on reddit.

Also lots of specific interest subs.

Queenlish · 08/04/2020 23:28

@DoWePay

Thanks. I've just spent the last 30 minutes on Reddit and from what I've seen so far I like it. I've bookmarked and I think will be on there a bit now. Seems a similar type of people to MN, so it's a no brainer really.

Queenlish · 08/04/2020 23:28

Sorry that was meant for @LooQoo
