Just that really.

OP posts:
Luc1nda · 08/04/2020 22:02

Probably JustTheTalk.

HereDefenders · 08/04/2020 22:04

I don’t believe it is financially destitute. Sure the ad revenue would have decreased quite quickly but I think it’s more likely they are taking advantage of the circumstances to introduce a paid subscription model. The balance sheet looks strong enough to weather a few weeks of disruption. It’s not like a cafe or restaurant that has been forced to completely shut up shop for a few weeks.

ritzbiscuits · 08/04/2020 22:05

I'd imagine at worst it will get restarted by Justine with a new name or someone else will jump into the space. There is money to be made, and if Mumsnet goes bust, it's because it got too big. You could start again from scratch with a very small number of staff.

Lycidas · 08/04/2020 22:07

Digital Spy, definitely. The Coronavirus section here is anxiety fuelling. There things are a tad lighter and funnier.

Queenlish · 08/04/2020 22:08

People keep mentioning Reddit.

Is anyone on there/a regular user? Can you please give me a brief overview.

Are there sections/can you name change/what's the general feel of it/type of users?

I think the two tier levels are not going to be good. I also find it hard to believe MN are struggling so badly, are Justine & Co really so piss poor they need to try getting money from users, some that are on the bones of their arse right now. The moderadtion/ censored topics/people, I just think it's going to be a slippery slope. As a free site ok, but a paid for one where the users create a lot of the content...

Looking for other options.

feelingverylazytoday · 08/04/2020 22:09

The ones I already use. Mumsnet is just one of several.

Queenlish · 08/04/2020 22:11

Digital Spy, people are way too nice. No acid tongued people on there.

That's why I'm asking about Reddit. Looking for a similar bunch of people to here.

Luc1nda · 08/04/2020 22:11

I just can’t get on with reddit. Or Quora. I grew up with the first talk boards and these two just make no sense to me at all.

Aardvarkitsabloodyaardvark · 08/04/2020 22:14

Mse or/and Digital spy.

Inappropriatefemale · 08/04/2020 22:14

Quora folks seem very intelligent compared to me Grin and they seem to have different opinions from me about practically everything, I never found ‘my people’ on it iyswim.

Inappropriatefemale · 08/04/2020 22:15

Reddit takes the piss out of MN and sometimes they are really funny.Grin

MashedSpud · 08/04/2020 22:20

Reddit.

AmelieTaylor · 08/04/2020 22:22

I don't like any of the others I've look at.

I'd be lost without you lot, after more years than I care to mention.

Take me with you wherever you go....

MamaBearOnLockdown · 08/04/2020 22:25

Reddit

and a couple of others but I like them because MN trolls are not on there yet, long may it lasts Grin

SlipSlidin · 08/04/2020 22:25

I’d go back to digital spy, the only reason I stopped posting there was slow traffic, it was always much faster moving on here.

MN isn’t all that, couldn’t care less if it folds.

Everyexitisanentrance · 08/04/2020 22:27

Reddit and TES.

I think Mumsnet have overpriced themselves. Some posters have been hilarious but a lot of the time it is now a bit faded. We are all back on it because of coronavirus but it does not offer anything really outstanding. I bet most of us just use the Talk element and there are some rooms that are really busy but others are like tumbleweed.

Littleposh · 08/04/2020 22:30

Netmums or bounty i guess but neither are anywhere near as good and it would be out of desperation, not choice

HereDefenders · 08/04/2020 22:30

I may try Reddit. A lot of MNetters moved onto Twitter a few years back. I took a massive break then and only made it back and dip in now and then. Tattle bothers me for various reasons that I can’t put my finger on although the content can be good and the threads move fast which I like.

LoveLongLife · 08/04/2020 22:36

Reddit and Quora

Growingboys · 08/04/2020 22:37

Agree with @JasonPollack

Letthemysterybe · 08/04/2020 22:37

Queenlish reddit is HUGE and has a very different feel depending on what subreddits you frequent. There’s something for everyone. It’s worthwhile having an explore. If you want bits that ‘sound like’ here then I think you need to find UK subreddits.

TheMustressMhor · 08/04/2020 22:38

Not Netmums.

I would rather dip my foot into frog shit.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/04/2020 22:38

Tattle Life, unquestionably.

OhioOhioOhio · 08/04/2020 22:41

Reddit

Growingboys · 08/04/2020 22:42

Tattle Life is excellent and a funnier cleverer version of here - lots of people are on both.

I also think it's MN burying bad news and taking advantage of the circumstances to grab more cash.
