Just that really.

OP posts:
Mintchocchipmamma · 13/04/2020 13:03

I’ve recently found mums.chat

is anyone on there? Seems like a nice place, it’s probably similar to mumsnet but I don’t think it’s an extension of this site? It seems different.

I really like the layout.

BeijingBikini · 13/04/2020 13:10

for all of Mumsnets faults, at least you can state your opinion.

Yeah but if the opinion is "you're a c*" and "you're a selfish arsehole" then it sort of turns the whole place into a bullying cesspit doesn't it.

MrsCastiel · 13/04/2020 13:12

There is an awful lot of differing opinion that can be and is given without people calling others a cunt.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 13/04/2020 13:13

I used bounty for years before moving onto mumsnet. I think I'll just use facebook groups although I do like the anonymity of forums.

SilveryWrath · 13/04/2020 13:26

What's 'dark mode '?

BeijingBikini · 13/04/2020 13:32

Yes, and those differing opinions are fine. It seems a large percentage of posters are unable to express an opinion like "I don't agree with you" without resorting to namecalling. Recently in the Corona Era this seems to have got so bad that I almost CBA with the site anymore - it's pretty unpleasant for anyone's MH to read through pages and pages of people being called selfish, stupid, c-words, etc. I can only imagine what the posters on the receiving end of the vitriol log off and do.

TeensArghhhh · 13/04/2020 13:45

@MarshaBradyo So people are paying for an edit button that other free sites already have? But they don’t have to?

Sounds a bit mad to me

MarshaBradyo · 13/04/2020 13:48

I know I don’t really get it either Teens

BeijingBikini · 13/04/2020 13:49

Sounds like they have too much money to throw away

DameHannahRelf · 13/04/2020 13:55

If so many of you don't like mumsnet, why are you here? Confused You don't need to wait for the site to shut before you leave, no ones keeping you here..?

RingtheBells · 13/04/2020 14:06

It’s probably all the CV stuff which is putting people off, not a good time to ask for a subscription when people are not posting that much anyway because of all the angry frothing posters and being shouted at and called names if you don’t agree with them. It’s pretty boring on here nowadays, probably other sites are similar though.

I don’t mind it overall (can’t do any add ons on sites and if this goes I’m done with forums) but the cash grab hasn’t gone down that well.

Otherwise I’m fine to post a bit more.

MarshaBradyo · 13/04/2020 14:11

That was re why are you still here pp

Thisisworsethananticpated · 13/04/2020 14:15

NurseButtercup · 13/04/2020 14:20

When this is all over I'm removing myself from social media and online forums. The isolation has made me realise how small my world has become. I had stopped doing my hobbies and just doing stuff that involved leaving my home. I'm going to return to being a gym bunny, going to the theatre, museum and cinema. I'm really looking forward to returning to my old self.

drunkyhumptydumpty · 13/04/2020 14:25

@TeensArghhhh and edit button that apparently is only available up to 15 seconds after posting.

YgritteSnow · 13/04/2020 15:57

I wouldn't go anywhere. I hope MN stays tbh. It's not perfect and there's some real lemon faced types on here but it's my go to for advice. It's been here so long that any possible piece of advice I might need is here somewhere and in a very accessible way. I usually google the info I need with "Mumsnet" after it and get a few threads with good info. I can't think of anywhere else like that.

LockedInMadness · 13/04/2020 17:05

Thing is I think Mumsnet has had the monopoly on parenting sites for so long it thinks it can treat us with contempt. Having to pay for fewer ads and an edit button? Confused

MarshaBradyo · 13/04/2020 17:16

Not quite a monopoly but sort of, lots going elsewhere looking at other sites.

LooQoo · 13/04/2020 18:55

@MarshaBradyo

Yes, I think this has definitely made some posters look at their options.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 13/04/2020 19:51

Best post on the thread @PorridgeShotgun and please pay attention to what she says @mnhq as although there’s a lot of mental shit on this site at the moment the reason Porridge has given us certainly a big reason you’ll get plenty traffic.

Don’t lose sight of that

Thank you PaulHollywoodsSexGut. InappropriateFemale if you like Reddits true crime and podcasts there's a great old Hollywood one that dips into Charles Manson. "You Must Remember This". I might give mumschat a go the interface is much better.

Inappropriatefemale · 16/04/2020 14:55

Thanks @PorridgeShotgun but the Charles Manson crime hasn’t been a crime that I’ve e ever been interested in, I’m more into family crimes and crimes of passion.
