What do you wish you'd done before lockdown kicked in?

  1. taken my dog to the groomer - he's like a walking cloud Grin
  1. bought more Primark 'cosy leggings' for my youngest. She has a few sensory issues with clothing, and lives in these. Typically, they've gone all holey since lockdown, and I'm not sure sewing that fabric would work.

What about you?

Wish we’d gone away for an early birthday weekend, weekend around the 14th. Instead we said we’d do it last weekend of March. Stupid !

Ponoka7 · 08/04/2020 13:59

Went to the pictures to see, Brahms, the Boy 11 and a quiet place 2, but probably better that we didn't.

babybunny123 · 08/04/2020 14:05

Had blinds fitted, now have newspaper up at my dining room window as people can see in. Cannot get cream Windolene anywhere !!! Oh and had new washer plumbed in, cant do it myself.

lmvins · 08/04/2020 14:11

plastic surgery - plenty of time to recover hidden away!

LostInTheWoods1 · 08/04/2020 14:12

Got my hair done.

Bought paint (I'd got the tester pots that weekend to chose, if I'd been bold and not bothered with testers I'd have a decorated house!)

Started the garden renovation and ordered materials etc. We've been planning to sort it for 3 years and not having time has always been the issue. Now we've time but can't buy materials!

HiDuggee · 08/04/2020 14:14

I wish I bought some summer clothes for DS, he's 15 months but only has long sleeved tops and long trousers even though the weather has turned real nice

Char1iesMum · 08/04/2020 14:16

Replaced the CH boiler;
Replaced DG windows;
Replaced the roof on the conservatory with one of those "fake" tiles things (the current one is a bit leaky depending on the wind direction);
bought more pasta;
sold a car;
bought a better laptop and renewed the printer which has just been given the last rites;
bought more gro-bags to plant toms/spuds/carrots etc in;
Oh, and registered for delivery from Sainsburys - it would seem that as a regular, loyal, "in store" customer they give no fucking shits about me now, so it will be many years before I darken their door again - fuck 'em.

notangelinajolie · 08/04/2020 14:16

I wish we'd not put back all the plug plant vegetables we had in our trolly in the garden centre the day before it closed.
DH is now furloughed and pottering about in the garden with nothing to do.

I wish I'd not cancelled my hair appointment because I didn't want to get up and go for my appointment which was at 9am.

Char1iesMum · 08/04/2020 14:20

notangelina you can grow spuds from any potato that has "chitted" (got shoots on) - they don't have to be special "seed" ones - might keep him busy? Smile
Peppers and toms will still grow from seed now too.

notangelinajolie · 08/04/2020 14:33

Char1iesMum thanks.
I will go and have a look and see what I can find, I'm sure there will be some spuds with shoots on in the bottom of the cupboard
Anything to keep him busy and out of my way Grin
If this what retirement is like then it ain't happening!

Char1iesMum · 08/04/2020 14:38

If this what retirement is like
Yup, can be quite a challenge Grin
You need to find some fence paint for him Wink
How is he at DIY? mine is slightly less than adequate
He can clean the car/windows etc every week
You'll find something for him to do...

Razzlefrazzle · 08/04/2020 14:42

Had an appointment for hair cut the day lockdown began. It was for the first trim after having my shoulder length hair cut into a pixie with long fringe. My old style could have gone ages between cuts, this style not so much. I'm starting to look like a mushroom!! 😢

StarlightLady · 08/04/2020 15:09

@GinnyStrupac “Perhaps the time hss come to be reclaiming Lady Gardens”.

As the warmer weather approaches? No thank you!

sleepingpup · 08/04/2020 15:20

i haven't read the whole thread and simone might have mentioned but you can still by paint!

Either online or C&C from B&Q and probably other DIY places.

sleepingpup · 08/04/2020 15:20

" buy paint"

hels71 · 08/04/2020 15:42

Had a hair cut.
Bought the potatoes for planting.
Bought the hot cross bun ingredients.

Evilcat · 08/04/2020 15:51

Got the cat neutered - she was due to be done next week. She is now in season and is currently wandering around the house meowing incessantly and looking for any means of escape.

Sewrainbow · 08/04/2020 15:54

Had my bare brick walls plastered...
They could have been painted and finished by now, my house is filthy with the dust Sad

CrowleysBentley · 08/04/2020 17:43

For whoever it was that said yarn, a lot of the smaller yarn shops are still taking orders online and ravelry.com is great for patterns, free or pay to download. I ordered a lot of sock yarn and a pack of dpns from purplesheep yarn the other day and it all arrived really nicely packaged with a big bow two days later. I think deramores and woolwarehouse are still taking orders too but I figure that the smaller businesses probably need the sales more.

In their defence they're pretty much only delivering to the shielding folk as far as I can tell. I'm "only" vulnerable and my years of being an online customer have counted for nothing.

Bought paint and wallpaper for the dcs bedrooms. B&q click and collect won't let me buy paint for inside and Wilkinsons have made almost all of theirs I store only and I don't want to be going just for paint if they haven't got the one I need. I can get the wallpaper online but I can't get the paint to go with it.

Bought more primark leggings, vest tops and pj shorts for me and dd.

Sosadandempty · 08/04/2020 18:07

Got my hair cut. Bought a large puzzle. Met someone - not to be in lockdown with as I live with my teens, but to chat to every day. Bit sick of the loneliness 🙄.

ChocolateTea · 08/04/2020 18:10

Managed my dentist appointment. It's next week. Or it was. Now it's who knows when, and my tooth and crown are niggly

Got my eldest a haircut. He's already a bush

Bought more comfy clothes which aren't Pj's - something like dungarees for round the house

Had one last Costa coffee and one last mcdonalds cheeseburger. I legit miss the first, and have had cravings for the second since last Wednesday

Got the new carpets fitted. So I wasn't tripping up and down the stairs constantly. They'll be ripped up at this rate and we will chance the grippers

Worriedmom2020 · 08/04/2020 18:11

Got my lip fillers
