How much milk?

Does a normal person get through in a week?

I know my consumption is unusually low. Until I discovered filtered milk, I would rarely get through a pint before it went off. Now a pint generally lasts me 7-10 days.

I am doing shopping for my parents at the moment. On Friday I got them, as asked, 4 pints of milk. Which I assumed would last a week (we'd agreed that I wouldn't go again until this coming weekend).

Today they rang to say they'd run out and would I go and get them 8 more pints! And also a prescription and medical things, so fine, it was an essential journey.

But 12 pints of milk for two people for a week seems, well, a LOT to me.

What's a normal amount for someone who isn't a child/teenager, who has tea and coffee and a bowl of cereal most days?

We get through tonnes of milk a week usually 3-4 4pt bottles a week. There's two adults, a toddler and a 1 year old. Cereal, loads of tea and coffee, kids drink lots of milk etc.

We get 8 pints in the weekly shop then the milk man delivers another 4 throughout the week as top ups. My son has 2 cups a day and I drink a lot of milky coffee. A pint wouldn’t last a day here

We get through around 10 pints of red milk (my husband and I - we have a lot of tea and coffee!) and our 3 kids have about 8-10 pints of semi skimmed a week

We get through three 6 pint bottles of whole milk and one 6 pint of semi skimmed. Dh has porridge for breakfast everyday and I use semi skimmed in tea and coffee. Our toddlers have cereal most mornings and ds guzzles milk. We are a family of 4.

We are only shopping once a week so stocking up to try to last a week. I counted 25 pints yesterday which will probably just about get us through with some extra from the milkman. Family of 4 but 2 teens who drink lots of milk.

We (two adults and a toddler) use about 8pints of whole and semi skimmed a week it sometimes varies depending on if we’re having cereal or toast. DH loves a glass of milk and biscuits (whole packets 🙄) before bed. Toddler has porridge for breakfast and 9oz before bed and sometimes a smoothie too.

I live alone now and manage to get through 2 pints semi skimmed every day
I drink a lot of coffee and eat a bowl of granola

We have about 8-10 pints a week which is probably 6-8 for DP and 1-2 for me. I only have it in hot drinks but DP has porridge for breakfast everyday and then Weetabix as a snack at least once a day. And we drink a lot of tea! Then the toddler has a 2-3 pints a week in her porridge.

If your parents have cereal for breakfast and like tea/coffee then I think that seems on the higher end of normal consumption.

We have two pints a day. Two adults and a ten and a twelve year old. The children have Weetabix which is notoriously thirsty.
