AIBU to think if you're healthy you should give up your delivery slots

Just thinking it's not really fair if you're healthy, and have a car, to use delivery slots from the supermarket. If you're healthy I think you should just go to the shop… It was different when we were all working and had no time etc etc, but most of us are wfh now and no reason we cant do a trip to the supermarket. Would help sick people and key workers etc by freeing up delivery spots.

Just had a tesco delivery and my friend found out. Told me "you're so lucky - I can never get one" yes but your husband can drive there and you are healthy (not to mention her work is next to a giant waitrose) "there's like a two hour wait to get in though. Screw that, I want a delivery.

There are people like me who literally rely on deliveries to get basic supplies but sure, you can't be bothered to wait two hours when I might have to wait weeks.

There are some really selfish people out there even when they know the situation of others.

It's probably already been said on here but working from home does not mean you can go to do a big supermarket shop during the day. I'm working from home Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm.

ZOMBIE THREAD

@Beckwith1 you need to start your own thread - probably in the pregnancy topic - with a title that gives some idea of what you're asking.

As it is, most people will look at the title of this one, roll their eyes and move on.

Didn’t realise this was an old thread Blush

Mind your own business. I cant get a slot for an Iceland delivery until all the vulnerable people and NHS have been offered the first hour opportunity. Once they have had their chance, its fair game. No-one is missing out as there are always loads of slots left.

Mangofandangoo · 05/07/2020 20:05

I get what you are saying but this has been done so many times. I'm a key worker and have worked throughout, DH works from home but is extremely busy because lots of his colleagues have lost their jobs. We have a DD (3) who I am not comfortable taking to the shop.

My parents are shielding and I also have very elderly grandparents so I am often doing two/three shops in one

Should I be giving up my slot?

Tana433 · 05/07/2020 20:05

I didnt realise it was an old thread either but still, the same principle applies. The vulnerable and NHS get first pickings then its open for the rest of us. I feel no guilt.

Sugarplumfairy65 · 05/07/2020 20:06

I'm in the clinically extremely vulnerable group. 14 weeks of shielding with another 4 minimum to go and I still haven't managed to get guaranteed delivery slots. A couple of supermarkets offered them in the beginning but they never had any available. I'm only managing by getting the occasional slot from Morrison's and a neighbor picking up a few bits up for me when she goes. She goes once per week but is not able to do a full shop for me.
