Aibu to think shielded groups should stay home and we should all just get back out there and carry on?

The economy is going to be on its knees!

If you can work, you should be allowed to.

"how about save it for the Govt who ignored the recommendations of Operation Cygnus (in 2016) didn't order the PPE"

If it's the Government's job, by which I presume you mean the job of members of the Government, to order PPE, why do we employ procurement managers and other various planning managers in PHE and the NHS?

"... and right now are not testing NHS workers in significant numbers because they didn't tell the very large Pharma industry in the UK to start making test kits in January as the German govt told Roche to do?"

PHE was determined to concentrate sample at their own facilities. Encouraged, probably, by the common cries of 'don't privatise the NHS', 'no privatising of the NHS by stealth', so common in the media, including Mumsnet, they discouraged involving our excellent private sector labs. And, unlike Germany, our healthcare is centralised, so it was hard for managers at individual trusts to sneak off and use local private labs, even when the existance of such a lab is pointed out by Government contacts.

I think it depends on where you live. Outside the large cities it is not so bad, so this could be considered and people could work again

@jasjas1973

Don't worry I'm extremely annoyed at those too Grin I just cannot stand people harping on about issues they know nothing about when it's so important we all socially isolate at the moment. Posts like these are dangerous!

So many nurses and other medical professionals (so they said, anyway) were posting on here in January, February, even March saying it was all blown out of proportion, it was only flu, all a fuss over nothing. I remember it clearly, as I was posting the opposite, and trying to get people to listen and prepare. Those in the media were as bad, some of whom have since apologised. We set sail for this destination two months ago. Don't complain now, it's too late.
