Admittedly it’s only on our local WhatsApp group...

Opened it this morning and there’s a message from a ‘founder’ member of the group.

“Me, hubs and the kids were out last night making lots of noise for our NHS heroes. Disappointed to see that some of this group don’t care enough to give up 2 minutes of their time!!! Maybe you forgot..(then a list of names including mine). Will be sending you a reminder next week!!”

I know she’s a twat but I’m fuming. I’m not going to dignify it with a reply because she and her little crew of followers love a public war. I’m just going to ignore her but if she thinks she’s forcing me out next week she’s got another bloody think coming.

Tbh if I wasn’t on lockdown I wouldn’t even give it 2 thoughts but I’m winding myself up about it now!

AIBU to think that clapping is not compulsory and nobody else’s business?

One-man-band yourself up and play it at the end of her path next Monday night. For a few hours.

I’ve been named and ‘shamed’
TSSDNCOP · 05/04/2020 10:11

I knew it would come to this. Why couldn't there have been one meaningful display of appreciation? Why must it be a weekly summons with extra torch displays and dancing thrown in.

Know when to stop Neighbour Nazi!

welldonejean · 05/04/2020 10:15

@TSSDNCOP you cannot use the word nazi, the thread will get deleted... one just has been for saying the same thing

TSSDNCOP · 05/04/2020 10:49

Really? Good grief. I'm going to need a dictionary of Covid prohibited words and phrases soon. Thanks for the tip.

Oliversmumsarmy · 05/04/2020 11:05

We all knew about it in Late December/early January where I work (A+E in a city

So you must have known about the corona virus before the Chinese government actually acknowledged it.

The WHO said it hadn’t left China on 23rd January.

TillyFloss10 · 05/04/2020 11:42

I see people all over social media posting stuff like 'to all these people clapping, maybe don't vote Tory instead'

Like people can clap and not vote Tory at the same time.... the two are not mutually exclusive.

MatildaJane · 05/04/2020 11:49

Too many thick virtue signallers coming out of the woodwork in this current situation. I'd leave the group and the others who were named and shamed will probably follow suit

PerkyPomPoms · 05/04/2020 11:50

Sounds grim - glad my area seems to be applause free!

BiBiBirdie · 05/04/2020 12:21

It gets worse

Just logged into my local Next Door page

Some woman is losing her shit over people for the crime of...
...and wait for it as it's right up there clearly.....

....having a barbecue in their garden just for the people who live within that house

Christ.

Apparently, she is going to jump fences and put them out (yes she missed the irony of breaking lockdown regs and ignoring social distancing to do so)

I pointed this out and it's not gone down well. I have some other lockdown Stasi telling me she would grass people up for breaking rules and how she thinks anyone who disagrees on the barbecue issue should be in shit with the plod.

It's becoming a sodding witch hunt of cuntiness isn't it?

I pointed out that, publicly saying you will happily rat on people, on a forum where your location is visible is possibly not a good idea, being that some people may not appreciate being ratted out for a walk or buying wine.

She's now reporting me to the Police apparently for threatening her

Honestly. Are people that bored by this lockdown that they've lost their damn minds or where they always this stupid in private?

wibblewobblejiggle · 05/04/2020 12:26

Jesus Christ. We're planning our second BBQ. I promise that if anyone jumped over our fence they would have a lot of trouble accomplishing that feat for a long time

BrooHaHa · 05/04/2020 12:28

She's now reporting me to the Police apparently for threatening her

Don't engage with such people. It's not worth it.

wibblewobblejiggle · 05/04/2020 12:30

This reminded me of a time on here that a poster told me she was calling the police and taking me to court for slander because I didn't believe she was a lawyer.

I got nothing done that night. It was hilarious.

Ledkr · 05/04/2020 12:38

I couldn't be arsed after speaking my nurse sister who still has no ppe Shock

BiBiBirdie · 05/04/2020 12:39

@BrooHaHa oh I haven't. I just said, with the greatest respect, bore off

I really can't see the Police wasting time on that right now.
World has gone truly crackers and that's without the CV19

PerkyPomPoms · 05/04/2020 12:42

For bbq’ing in their own garden, with their bubble? Madness!
Sounds like some sort of underwater future crime thriller though... the day the bubble popped!

dustyplat · 05/04/2020 12:53

Fundraising at home for much needed NHS equipment is the new clapping.

Suggest the group try that instead of taking pot shots at others in their WhatsApp group.

BiBiBirdie · 05/04/2020 12:54

I wouldn't mind, the same woman was commenting two days ago that we and the US should literally nuke China to a scorched hole in the ground. I think the Police would be more interested in that than me politely pointing out how daft it is to publicly say you'll grass your neighbors up when your address is visible.

MulticolourMophead · 05/04/2020 13:23

So you must have known about the corona virus before the Chinese government actually acknowledged it.

The WHO said it hadn’t left China on 23rd January.

I'm not so sure that date is right.

I have a friend who lives in another city. We haven't physically met up since last year, we've been keeping in touch by phone/text/skype, etc due to not being able to find a day that works.

Her son made a trip to China, landing back in the UK on 18th December. Over Christmas, she was very ill with symptoms the same as those listed for COVID 19.

Of course, at that time, we had no idea it was anything other than a very bad cold. My friend now wonders if this was COVID 19.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 05/04/2020 13:34

According to Wikipedia:

The disease was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of China's Hubei province, and has since spread globally, resulting in the ongoing 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic.

That's what the '19' part of 'COVID-19' means - started in 2019.

Insanelysilver · 05/04/2020 14:17

Bloody hell what a twat. Who died and made her Queen ?!!

Jesusisking · 05/04/2020 15:06

There is actually no gain in having a row. Or quarrel.
Why not join them & do what is needful to avoid problem.
I will suggest that you apologize for not joining & endervour to join next time..
I like to live in a peaceful environment anyway

acatcalledjohn · 05/04/2020 15:14

@BiBiBirdie BBQ gestapo.

SpratsOnParade · 05/04/2020 15:28

I will suggest that you apologize for not joining & endervour to join next time..

WTF! Why would anyone apologise for not joining in? I'd sooner bloody choke. The OP has done nothing wrong.

rubberoftheband · 05/04/2020 15:31

Apologise ....... no way!

Live in a peaceful environment or be a complete pushover?

TealWater · 05/04/2020 15:36

@Oliversmumsarmy I think that many of us knew about it. And that it would eventually go globally.
