Is getting on my last nerve.

They seem to be trying to put the spotlight on him and turn him into a big ‘personality’ and it’s pushing me more and more often to Radio 4 until he’s safely out of the way.

He’s an over excitable twit basking in his new found fame just a little bit too much for my liking. His Brummie accent has been coming out much more strongly lately too. He’s hamming it up and trying to create a niche persona for himself.

I love Ken, as a pp said whilst he's on, we are relatively safe. Anyone who doesn't love him is a psychopath. Never mind triad of psychopathy, I'm talking about the quartet of psychopathy. I also love Sara Cox. There's a theme of natural warmth and humour here.

BringMeTea · 30/10/2020 19:43

Here here @ScienceSensibility. Let me stand you a pint. I agree with every single word though would throw in a good word for Liza Tarbuck and add some vitriol for Steve 'love the show' Wright.

ScienceSensibility · 30/10/2020 19:57

Thank you, BringMeTea gratefully received.

Once I’d started I didn’t think I’d ever stop, I so hate they way Radio 2 listeners have been treated in the last few years, as though it’s a crime against society to be a bit middle aged and like older music. Which by the way is much better than today’s. There, I said it!

ScienceSensibility · 30/10/2020 20:00

Yes, Pollo

If we ever get wind that Ken is leaving, it’s time to head for the underground bunkers with our stash of Popmaster Quiz books and Tunnocks Caramel Wafers. Women and children first!

MargaretHooper · 30/10/2020 20:11

Ken was broadcasting (on Radio Scotland) when I was a student, and I am no spring chicken! Agree that life will not be the same when he finally hangs up the head phones.

the80sweregreat · 30/10/2020 20:12

I'm a Ken fan. His brilliant and very funny.
I'm not keen on Steve Wright at all and he should retire gracefully. The whole ' no G ' thing gives me the rage.
Sara is great and very upbeat. I don't listen to Zoe and Rylan is ok in small doses.
I don't mind Vanessa Feltz or Jeremy Vine and Liza is so wacky , but it works well and she is also very amusing.

BringMeTea · 30/10/2020 21:17

Not ten minutes ago I said to DH, when Ken goes you might aswell turn the lights off. Is he on twitter? Can someone alert him to this thread? Keep safe Ken, a nation needs you!

rockingthelook · 30/10/2020 22:35

Ken the King
Ritchie tries too hard
Zoe, stop saying gorgeous right now, and annoyed me by kept saying about Sam Smith that they were coming on the programme later , so woke it's laughable
Ooo Gary Davies, welcome back
Like Vanessa instead of Jeremy, much more intelligent
Steve Wright, is there a g in GO away?
Liza Tarbuck, very funny, good musical mix, also like Dermot and Craig Charles and Rylan

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 30/10/2020 22:59

last time Sam Smith was coming on she said "he" cos I wondered if Sam would say something about that, as it wasn't long after the whole they and their announcement but it was glossed over.

ALSO...I am sure she let the cat out of the bag about C|ara Amfo being on Strictly....they had announced Caroline Quentin and a chap and then Zoe was wittering on next morning about how wonderful it was that Clara was in and then much later I saw it as an announcement on the FB page.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 30/10/2020 23:02

@BringMeTea Ken has a twitter account.

Sertchgi123 · 30/10/2020 23:09

I miss Simon Mayo.

Nanny0gg · 30/10/2020 23:40

I cannot abide Vanessa. She doesn't stop talking! Which is very irritating when standing in for Jeremy Vine and she's supposed to be interviewing an expert or a listener. Very patronising.

I think Gary Davies does a lovely stand-in job so he could take over from Steve Wright permanently.

And bring back Lyn Bowles!

Sara Cox is great and Ferne Cotton should get Breakfast. Amol is good for Jeremy Vine. Or Brian Cantrememberhissurname
There's another late night DJ who moved earlier as a stand-in for Zoe. Liked him.

Weekends - love Graham Norton and Paul Gambuccini. Alan and Sue in small doses.

sandgrown · 31/10/2020 00:01

I love Ken Bruce. Don’t mind Jeremy Vine. Don’t like the music Rylan plays. Like Jonny Walker ,Liza Tarbuck and Paul O Grady for the music mix . Also like Trevor Nelson at night and Craig Charles .

BringMeTea · 31/10/2020 07:28

Thanks TheMobile. Any twitterers willing to let Ken read the love? Honourable mention to Paddy O'Connell. Also think Trevor makes a fairly good fist of it when he stands in. All of them deserve better than Richie.

MrsKJones · 31/10/2020 10:12

I don't mind Zoe Ball and Ritchie. I start work at 7 so listen to Zoe Ball then Ken Bruce. Depending on who the tracks of my years celeb is i either keep listening until 12 or put on the previous evenings Sara Cox show. On a Monday I like to listen to Fearne's Sounds of the 90's from previous Friday. Not keen on Jeremy Vine but will listen depending on the subjects. Steve Wright annoys me with his singing over the songs but i do like the factoids segments.
I cannot stand Vanessa Feltz
I like Sally Traffic and I too had noticed the prolonged Way Claire Ronacres announces her name
Not fussed on Dermot and I do enjoy Gary but miss Ken when he is not on - I LOVE PopMaster and have been getting some good scores lately (must be my age). I was off last week so have a week of PopMaster and Sarah Cox to catch up on

Igotmyholiday · 31/10/2020 10:20

Love Ken, like Sarah and dermot. Have moved to LBC in the house mostly apart from Ken ( partly due to can't stand James O'brien)

OrigamiPenguinArmy · 31/10/2020 10:33

Zoe is okay, I love Ken, turn off for Jeremy Vine, it’s not Jeremy I don’t like, it’s random people phone ins. I don’t care if Bob from Scunthorpe thinks we need another lockdown or Kerry from Cornwall wants fireworks banned. I actually prefer Vanessa in Jeremy’s slot because her phone ins are more human interest than topic of the day. Steve Wright in the afternoon will outlive us all, one day it will just be him with his stupid no g DJ silly boy, and the cockroaches listening. I much prefer Gary Davis although he is a bit bland, kind of like a DJ created by a radio 2 algorithm to be as inoffensive as possible. Sarah Cox is really good, right now if Ken did retire she’d probably be the best replacement for him.

Bearsbearsbears40 · 31/10/2020 10:36

Aw, I like Richie. Ken is the king of radio though. Still miss Simon Mayo, although I enjoy listening to his Scala radio show whilst wfh (after PopMaster, obvs).

billysboy · 31/10/2020 11:24

Ritchie will be on strictly next as part of his BBC journey !

I still cant get my head around the beeb paying Steve wright £500k a year !

Blobby10 · 31/10/2020 11:44

Why has no one suggested moving Dermot O'Leary to the breakfast show? He would be brilliant - just the right , almost Woganish, amount of serious and playful with a nice calming voice to start the day.
I googled RA the other day as I was curious to see what he looked like - was expecting him to look a bit like Alan Carr!! Boy was I gobsmacked! Grin

Nanny0gg · 31/10/2020 12:09

I don't like Dermot! And I really don't like his music much.

I'm on Twitter but Ken doesn't tweet much. Bit harsh to put a link to this on there really...

bitheby · 31/10/2020 12:14

Steve Wright accidentally misgendered Sam Smith this week and then throughout the interview said Sam will be doing this, Sam will be doing that, rather than use pronouns which sounded pretty silly.

BringMeTea · 31/10/2020 12:51

Oh... don't make me warm to Steve Wright... Grin

mooota1514 · 08/11/2020 11:19
