Richie Anderson on RADIO 2

Is getting on my last nerve.

They seem to be trying to put the spotlight on him and turn him into a big ‘personality’ and it’s pushing me more and more often to Radio 4 until he’s safely out of the way.

He’s an over excitable twit basking in his new found fame just a little bit too much for my liking. His Brummie accent has been coming out much more strongly lately too. He’s hamming it up and trying to create a niche persona for himself.

I gave up on Zoe Ball - just couldn’t stand her any longer. Only switch radio 2 on at 9.30am now for Ken Bruce

cobblers123 · 31/03/2020 09:34

I don't mind Richie, I prefer him to when Lynn was on with Ken Bruce and much prefer him to Bobby Prior who seems to have become a main presenter now alongside that tit Steve Wright.

Wish Ken was on from 8am to 4pm, I wouldn't bother to switch the radio off at midday for the rest of the day then.

Love you Ken Smile

KaronAVyrus · 31/03/2020 09:35

Ken has such a lovely relaxing manner. Just what we need right now.

PieceOfMaria · 31/03/2020 09:35

Everyone loves Ken.

Lots of love here for Sara Cox who has settled in beautifully to drivetime although I still miss Simon Mayo

Gary Davies is great when he is on

ShowOfHands · 31/03/2020 09:46

Sara Cox is absolutely brilliant.

ShowOfHands · 31/03/2020 09:48

(shedload and shed load are pronounced the same really, but stressed differently, you can't substitute one for the other like Richie does).

EyeShipMiceElf · 31/03/2020 09:49

I liked it when Rylan stood in for Zoe in the half term, he should do the breakfast show all the time.
I can’t stand the Show and Tell slot either.

PieceOfMaria · 31/03/2020 09:52

Rylan is turning out to be a bit of a superstar.

OP posts:
KaronAVyrus · 31/03/2020 09:54

I like Rylan too. I thought he was a total dick when he was originally on the X factor but he’s a natural on radio.

billysboy · 31/03/2020 09:56

So Rylan at breakfast
Then Ken with Sally traffic
Jeremey Vine ( without Sarah Jarvis )mainly for the gammons and the people that witter on for ages before getting to the point
Gary Davies
Sara Cox
Jo whiley
Pete Tong

would be my daily choice from 7 to 10

PieceOfMaria · 31/03/2020 09:57

I think Rylan will get the Breakfast Show next.

Listening to Zoe Ball stresses me out. I always feel that she’s about five words away from running out of things to say.

I think that’s why she over-enunciates. She’s stretching her words out to fill the time.

Sara Cox should have got that gig. She’s a total natural, and very funny.

BarkandCheese · 31/03/2020 10:02

Shed load - “there’s a shed load of toilet rolls on the north bound carriageway of the M1 causing long delays”

Shedload- “my horrible neighbour bought a shedload of loo roll two weeks ago and is now selling them on Facebook for £5 a roll”

I thought I was the only person who found Richie annoying. It’s not his accent but his obvious grab for airtime which irritates me,

BogRollBOGOF · 31/03/2020 10:03

I often turn on at 9:30 these days. I can't stand Zoe gasping for air, a shame as the play list is OK.

Oi quoite loike Ritchoi, even if Debbie is on the carriageway surprisingly frequently. Brummie accents are under represented in the media. Admittedly it's not my favourite regional accent, and it can often be so broad as to be verging on unintelligable to people from more than a couple of miles down the road. In comparison Ritchie has fairly mild tones.

I love Gary Davies. He's right, it is the fastest show on the radio... I listen to him on my long runs Grin

KaronAVyrus · 31/03/2020 10:06

I’d have:

Rylan - breakfast
Ken Bruce - he’s great don’t touch him
Gary Davies - lunchtime
Simon Mayo - bring him back. Why do we have to suffer Wright and his serious jockin’ no g? Why?
Sara Cox - love her

PieceOfMaria · 31/03/2020 10:06

Yes! Perhaps he's accent hasn't got any stronger but I'm just noticing it more because he has too much to say for himself these days. He's got the wind in his sails and he won't shut up.

Did you hear his mother on the radio live after he did his triathlon thing? Jeez, you could strip paint with that accent and I say that as someone who has nothing against Brummie accents at all.

He's obviously poshed up since he left home.

BarkandCheese · 31/03/2020 10:10

Serious jockin’ no g, argh, even written down it’s annoying. Steve Wright in the afternoon will be on forever, I remember listening to it on the way home from school over thirty years ago (radio 1 in those days though).

Santaclauswhosthat · 31/03/2020 10:28

@billysboy I'd listen to your schedule for sure. In a totally ideal world I'd like to have Simon back but I don't think he would now even if they asked him. It was horrible listening to how upset he was during his last ever show - he was obviously devastated.

Agree that Rylan is proving to be unexpectedly excellent. I thought he was a tit on X factor but he's really good on radio and - Richie take note - manages to be lively and funny as well as being self-deprecating so doesn't irritate.

billysboy · 31/03/2020 10:40

Ritchie Anderson is just too me me me and trys to grab any attention he can good or bad

theres so many cuts you could make to the BBC in these times ahead but he would be top of my list

BringMeTea · 31/03/2020 10:43

Yeah Richie is a bellend with unfathomably inflated sense of his own talent. Ken has the measure of him. Don't get me started on the breakfast show. We all knew Sir Terry was going to be a tough act to follow but fuck me. Literally can't listen to it.
Gary is a true pro. Love Sara too. Steve Wright clearly knows where the bodies are buried. No other explanation.

KaronAVyrus · 31/03/2020 10:45

I think Wright has got some photos locked in a safe somewhere. It’s the only explanation.

Lolaesque · 31/03/2020 10:47

With you OP. He is incredibly irritating and so cliched and plays the stereotype.

Nanny0gg · 31/03/2020 20:30

I like Fearne standing in for Zoe. She's much calmer.

But yes, Ken, Gary Davis. Sara Cox all good. Can cope with Jeremy Vine when he's not dribbling fawning over Dr Sarah
