To ask if you earn £50K+ what do you do?

I have seen a lot of posts on here where people say how much they earn and I am shocked how many people earn over £50K, so I was just wondering what it is that you do?

Also, do you think it is more important to have a high income or a job that you enjoy?

I can't say what I do, however I work for a HA and local Council specializing in vulnerable children and adult services

Doctor. But this is after 6 years of med school and 8 years of work. I started on just over 20K. Fucking love my job.

I manage projects and manage operations in a sales environment, I manage a team of business analysts/project managers. I love my job, almost addicted to it. My salary is about 80K per annum, plus bonus, pension contribution, full healthcare for family.

Accountant working in a financial services head office.

Both are important. I like my job (but don’t love it), it is stimulating and I work with some nice/good people. And I very much like the pay & what that brings.

Whenwillthisbeover · 30/03/2020 19:44

I’m an office pleb and I do 40k, not that hard these days.

SheeshazAZ09 · 30/03/2020 19:44

DP earns 50K and he's a university academic/research scientist (one job, two aspects to it).

Solicitor! I enjoy it mostly but sometimes it’s too stressful or too boring. But good colleagues make the difference!

chilledteacher · 30/03/2020 19:48

Robs20 · 30/03/2020 19:48

Business development for a law firm. It quite enjoy it but do often think about setting up my own business.

scoobydoo1971 · 30/03/2020 19:49

Research specialist, teacher, and property development/ manager. I am self employed and I love the freedom of working part-time. I could never go back to working permanently on PAYE for someone else as I make a lousy employee. I am mortgage free and financially independent as I have focused on being debt free. This may sound amazing, but that old saying about money being the root of all evil can be true for some. I have attracted some right gold diggers/ cock lodgers and friends wanting loans and financial favours over the years. It makes me cynical and very careful who I mix with socially, but I accept that financial security is a good feeling when it comes from years of hard work.

WhereverIMayRoam · 30/03/2020 19:49

Personal injury claims supervisor. I won’t say I love my job and if I won the lottery I’d give it up but it’s interesting, stretches the brain, I work with a good bunch of people and have some flexibility to my working hours so overall I like it well enough.

StarUtopia · 30/03/2020 19:51

£50k isn't that much is it? What's that take home a month? £3k? £700 a week?

I might add I'm not earning it now, but back in 2003 I was earning £45k then!

Surely £100k + is big money these days?

user1471523870 · 30/03/2020 19:52

Team manager for a large multinational company.

FlibbertyGiblets · 30/03/2020 19:52

PieceOfMaria · 30/03/2020 19:53

Senior Service delivery and MI manager.

Okay I’m not a stupid person but what even is that? Both those things I have no idea.

sooveritalready · 30/03/2020 19:54

Marketing for a multinational. I love it, am good at it but would say there's far too much work for each role. I prob manage about 40% of what I could do if I had time.

shinyredbus · 30/03/2020 19:54

PR.

7Penguins · 30/03/2020 19:54

PieceOfMaria I can answer that as I used to have a job like that.
It's overseeing the service delivery of (usually) an IT service, and MI (Management Infromation) is building and delivering reports on the service performance.
It's a good job, if a little same-y. Great colleagues usually though.

shivermetimbers77 · 30/03/2020 19:55

Clinical psychologist . Love my job and feel lucky to do it.

CountFosco · 30/03/2020 19:57

Senior Scientist in a Pharma company. Love it, interesting work, great colleagues, good term and conditions, security. I suspect more people on >£50k love their job than those on

MardyGrass · 30/03/2020 19:57

Senior midwife.

SellFridges · 30/03/2020 19:58

Learning and engagement. HR I suppose. DH is a software dev. Bother earn well over £50k and generally enjoy what we do. I’d sometimes like to slow down a bit but I’d rather have the money for fun stuff.
