OK so my husband completely disagrees with me on this. I cry at pretty much everything, he doesn't.
He gets teary at this song... To me it's like nails down a blackboard... The song..
Imagine by John lennon
I can't explain it but I hate it with a passion, it makes cringe
Am I the only one like my husband says or do others get the same feeling....what other songs have that effect on people???

Can you tell I hate it?

Go on Buzz don't you get the goosebumps up your spine when you hear the piano notes ?

I gave birth to my first born in Dec '99 , they played Christmas music ( natch) but it was FToNY that I was singing along to , all emotional ( weepy) on gas&air .

Shane would've been proud Grin

I didn't call my son Shane .

AufderAutobahn · 01/04/2020 23:07

Live Shack - The B52s. Ugh.

AufderAutobahn · 01/04/2020 23:08

*Love Shack!

TheVanguardSix · 01/04/2020 23:13

Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader

My blood congeals if I ever hear it (fortunately, I don't).

TheVanguardSix · 01/04/2020 23:19

Runaway Train - Soul Asylum

Oh yes. Just a terrible track.
I pair it with Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm by the Crash Test Dummies.
I mean, who let's these songs happen? I think Mmm Mmm song is THE WORST SONG EVER (yes, I am shouting).
Although, that said, Weird Al Yankovic did a hilarious rendition of the Mmm Mmm song.

OwlinaTree · 01/04/2020 23:31

I really can't stand Xanadu. It just really annoys me. If it comes on in a shop I'm really impatiently waiting for it to end.

I don't like the cranberries do you have to let it linger? Makes me think about farts!

Gorse · 02/04/2020 00:17

We only come out at night. Smashing Pumpkins.

Gorse · 02/04/2020 00:25

@RonnieBarkingMad
Above post to settle your query.

Me, I'm always late to the party. Should be a song title, but it's just my explanation for posting 24 hrs after everyone else has moved on.
FWIW, my most hated is Lilly the Pink. It will be in my head for days now, like some vile parasite.

AccioCake · 02/04/2020 00:41

Shotgun by George Ezra. Anything by George Ezra in fact. And Sam Smith. I have to immediately turn the radio off.

Shockers · 02/04/2020 07:51

The line, ‘I’m as serious as cancer, when I say rhythm is a dancer.’

That’s taking rhyming far too far.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/04/2020 13:40

"Walk This Way" Aerosmith and Run DMC
"Don't Want to Miss a Thing" Aerosmith

But I do like "It's Like That " by Jason Nevins and Run DMC

IchWill · 02/04/2020 14:28

Galway Girl by Ed Sheeran.

He took a list or Irish clichés and ticked them off:
Diddly-diddly fiddle ✔️
Name checking Irish landmarks ✔️
Whiskey references ✔️
Cèilidh reference ✔️

AWFUL, AWFUL, SICKENING SONG.

IchWill · 02/04/2020 14:32

See also Ed Sheeran, Castle on the Hill.

Again, horrible clichéd lyrics.

No Ed, you didn't do 90mph on a 60mph road listening to Elton John.
I doubt you drank spirits neat. Ed.

Ugh, I hate his songs. He seems like a nice person, but I don't get his fame. His songs are beyond dire.

IchWill · 02/04/2020 15:09

If I'm at a wedding, or party I have to leave the dancefloor, or room when I inevitably hear:

It's raining men.
I will survive.

They both make me want to go and boil my own head in a vat.

Agree with PPs about Jess Glynn. Nasal, whiny, nails down a blackboard voice. Radio goes off immediately. As it does for anything by Ed Sheeran.

I cannot abide people that mumble in songs, Bruce Springsteen and Billie Eilish, I'm looking at you.

I hate people that cover a song and do it so badly that you want to cry.

I heard a Tori Amos cover version of Chas & Dave's London Girls the other day. It was painful. One Direction totally murdered Teenage Kicks.

Conversely, I love a cover version that really twists the original on its head and makes it sound so different, but amazing.

Disturbed's Sound of Silence and Scissor Sisters' Comfortably Numb for example. I know the latter is controversial, but I hate Pink Floyd anyway.

IchWill · 02/04/2020 15:21

@Dandarabilla

Rockabye by Clean Bandit and Ann Marie.
YES, YES, YES!!!! The version with that cockend Sean Paul makes an already awful song even worse.

I hate the lyrics, utter bollocks, song writing by numbers. Rhyming love, with love and life with life constantly winds me up.

"She tells him 'ooh love',"
No one's ever gonna hurt you, love,
I'm gonna give you all of my love." JUST FUCK OFF!

Oh and Anne Marie's bizarre Hispanic / Jamaican hybrid fake accent that she sings in. You're from Essex you tit.

Smartanimal · 02/04/2020 16:08

Anything by Ed Sheeran. Lame. Anyway he looks like a cross between the honey monster and Elmo from Sesame Street.
What is it with podgy musicians nowadays? Lewis Capaldi I am looking at you too..

MyCatHatesEverybody · 02/04/2020 16:32

Affair songs e.g. Saving all my love for you, Me and Mrs Jones, Run to you, You make me wanna etc.

I have to switch off Hot Love by T Rex when it comes on the radio. Not only are the lyrics a pile of shit but there are literally 2 1/2 minutes or so of repeated "la la las" at the end of the song. Boring as hell!!

PolloDePrimavera · 02/04/2020 19:12

Been around the world by Lisa Stansfield. I cannot bear it.

smiffypeabrain · 02/04/2020 19:17

Anything by The Housemartins

SirChing · 02/04/2020 19:58

@Smartanimal Aw they can't help how they look (good analogies though 😁)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/04/2020 20:37

Affair songs e.g. Saving all my love for you, Me and Mrs Jones, Run to you, You make me wanna etc

So that's a "Nope" to Daytime Friends and Night time Lovers by Kenny Rogers then ? Wink

B0bbin · 02/04/2020 20:54

Deeply dippy by right said fred. No no noooooo

merryhouse · 02/04/2020 21:23

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll and @FeekyChuckery - that bloody verse isn't even a proper part of the song!

merryhouse · 02/04/2020 21:34

Have to say I've not even heard of a lot of these.

Imagine is appalling, certainly (the recent hideous celebrity lockdown version of it actually comes out the other side and has turned into something positive in the world).

I do enjoy Walking on Sunshine and Don't Leave Me This Way Grin and I quite liked I Just Called despite the gratuitous key change

Lady In Red gets my particular hate because so many of CdeB's earlier songs were so much better (before he had a mid-life crisis and shagged the nanny while his wife was ill)

Oooh ooh ooh! Spirit in the Sky

(and that's an earworm I will be regretting very soon)

moimichme · 02/04/2020 21:41

I can't stand Rihanna. If I hear a new song in that genre and hate it immediately, I guarantee you it's something I've not heard yet by her annoying voice! Umbrella is awful but there's another one too that gives me the rage, partly because they're so repetitive and get stuck in my head! Argh!
