OK so my husband completely disagrees with me on this. I cry at pretty much everything, he doesn't.
He gets teary at this song... To me it's like nails down a blackboard... The song..
Imagine by John lennon
I can't explain it but I hate it with a passion, it makes cringe
Am I the only one like my husband says or do others get the same feeling....what other songs have that effect on people???

Anything by the Beautiful South.

Hate them. Twee, unbearable nonsense.

Areyoufree · 30/03/2020 09:37

Loving you, by Minnie Riperton.
Breakfast at Tiffanys, Deep Blue Something.

Ugh. Just...ugh.

Buddyelf · 30/03/2020 09:37

Oh I have a few songs that I absolutely hate and my DH thinks are ‘classics’
Angels by Robbie Williams (I want to rip my ears off)
Flying without wings by Westlife
Imagine (he actually doesn’t like this one either) - most overrated song in history.
Sweet Caroline - awful

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 30/03/2020 09:39

ANYTHING by:

Mumford and Son
M People
Coldplay
Jess Glynne

I cannot stand any of their songs/music/voices and will change channel/switch off/leave the room to avoid them.

SlipSlidin · 30/03/2020 09:41

Anything by The Script, their song titles and lyrics sound like they’ve been created by a Random Cliche Generator.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 30/03/2020 09:42

Especially Mumford. I get actually angry to think about them.

I cannot put into words how much I detest their fake-folk waistcoats and country caps, aw-shucks we're just some lads from the pub act. When they are actually posh boys from Richmond.

RonnieBarkingMad · 30/03/2020 09:45

Angels by Robbie Williams (I want to rip my ears off)

You beat me to it. The only thing worse than Robbie singing Angels is some middle aged bloke thinking they sound like Robbie singing Angels on karaoke. It too makes me want to rip my own ears off, if only just so I have something to throw at them.

NotSorry · 30/03/2020 09:56

I just called to say I love you - Stevie Wonder

The man has written some of the greatest songs ever and he writes and releases that pile of shit

TroysMammy · 30/03/2020 10:00

Love Shack. Probably disliked because in the early 90's I saw a young woman extremely pissed dancing falling over to it in a restaurant.

ILoveYou3000 · 30/03/2020 10:00

Happy by Pharrell Williams
Believe by Cher
Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis
Murder on the Dance Floor by Sophie Ellis Bextor
Shape of You by Ed Sheeran

Want to rip my ears off any time I hear any of these.

anotherlittlechicken · 30/03/2020 10:04

Anyone of Us by Gareth Gates. Talking about how he shagged another girl behind his girlfriend's back, but forgive me because it could happen to any one of us. Hmm

And wives and lovers by Jack Jones (written by Burt Bacharach) is just grim.

That's just 2 for now!

HarlanWillYouStopNamingNuts · 30/03/2020 10:04

Yes to Kiss Me, so twee. Also, not a song, but Take Five or any similar jazzy saxophone music, particularly when played by a busker at a Tube station. Just eff off with your jolly tunes.

iklboo · 30/03/2020 10:05

Just Want To Dance The Night Away
Build Me Up Buttercup
Reach
Celebration

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 30/03/2020 10:05

Mull of kintyre is the only Paul McCartney song I absolutely can’t listen to

Mull of Kintyre is A Day In The Life compared to Mary Had A Little Lamb and Rupert Bear and those fucking frogs. And the Choir of Children Sing Their Song. You'd think they might do a better job of it of they'd been practising all year long....

anotherlittlechicken · 30/03/2020 10:06

@ILoveYou3000

The song Bleeding love has a nice feel and a nice melody to it. But the line...

My heart's crippled by the vein, that I keep on closing...

Just makes me queasy. Confused

Oilyoilyoilgob · 30/03/2020 10:08

Anything by Jess Glynn, she sounds so whiny.

And yes @Mascotte that ‘lovely day’ one makes me murderous, got the rage just thinking of it

Neveranynamesleft · 30/03/2020 10:11

Wonderwall
Born in the USA
Simply the best.

Monotonous drivel.

TheRealShatParp · 30/03/2020 10:11

Stay With Me - Shakespeare Sister

potter5 · 30/03/2020 10:18

I hate Imagine too.
Paul McCartney frog song.
My dingaling. Chuck Berry.
The 'streak' song? "Oh yes they call him the streak" (can't remember the title).
Terry Wogan song. Floral dance?
Grandad by Clive Dunn.

Probably loads more but can't remember them all.

MrsMop1964 · 30/03/2020 10:21

Happy by Pharell Williams. I feel murderous when I hear it. No, I will not be happy and I will not clap along- you can't make me!

asmuchuseas · 30/03/2020 10:28

Happy by Pharrel Williams
Sweet but a psycho gives me the rage
Anything by Paul McCartney or cliff richard sets me on edge too.
B52's Love Shack
Believe by Cher

SerenDippitty · 30/03/2020 10:29

Don’t Cha by the Pussycat Dolls

LakieLady · 30/03/2020 10:30

@NotSorry: thank god I'm not the only one!

The man's a fucking genius and the only explanation for that godawful song is that he wrote it as a joke. A bad joke.
