To ask genuinely if you aren't following the rules

Why? I'm genuinely curious to know why those who can't get to grips with what's been asked of us all at this time or those who need to find a loophole are doing it.

Not key workers etc etc I'm talking about those who simply cannot do as they've been asked. It's mind boggling how simple rules can be so unclear to so many!

Some of my friends just cannot seem to stay at home, just carrying on as if the rules don't apply to them. I don't get it.

"if everyone does what he or she is suppose to do as outlined by the health authorities, this virus will be gone in a very short while & things will be back to normal again, but some people just deliberately refuse to understand this .

Will it though? I’m not a doctor or an epidemiologist but I don’t think that’s how viruses work. I don’t think they just ‘go’.

Isn’t the idea more that the virus is actually going to be around for a long time, and lots of us will get it, but by following the restrictions we will flatten the curve of infection thereby avoiding the collapse of the NHS, which would be catastrophic?"

Yes, I don't know where the idea that the virus will just disappear came from.
We might be in and out of lockdown for a couple of years until we get a treatment/vaccine. It might become just one of the usual flus that are around like swine flu is now.

I’ve asked this on another thread but
can I also ask a question here please?

I drive my son to work most days. It’s a 45 min round trip twice a day. I don’t get out of the car, just there and back.

Is this acceptable do you think?

malificent7 · 02/04/2020 08:19

I know it's important to " follow the rules" but equally damaging to our society is the fact we all seem to be the secret police atm....even i catch myself tutting when i see people go for a run ...i am allowed to go for one obviously!

God help us if in 8 days time the first bank holiday weekend is glorious sunshine after all the Easter weekends we've endured snow or rain.

BoomBoomsCousin · 02/04/2020 13:17

Kintsugi16 assuming he can’t drive himself, that sounds sensible. The law specifies travel to work as an example of an acceptable reason for leaving the house and if he can’t drive himself the alternative of him using public transport would be more risky.

Anyone with the selfish/disbelieving friends, please show them the video of corpses being loaded onto a refridgerated lorry by forklift in Brooklyn, New York. It's not funny.

Nomoredrama2 · 04/04/2020 13:10

I don’t think it would make any difference.

Everyone is inherently selfish to a certain degree.

There will always be people who don’t understand or who don’t want to. Calling them selfish won’t help. Sometimes it’s a way of coping.

People are immune to see the dead thanks to the media. The news constantly show dead people as a result of natural disasters and violence.

Serves no purpose pointing the finger. Just focus on doing what you can.

mindproject · 04/04/2020 14:47

What are the rules exactly?
