No Daily Mail, the young Royals did not lead the clapping last night

They took part.
Just like every other citizen of the UK did
They did not start it.

I know, I know, bigger things to think about and all.

But it has raised the Republican in me to see headlines saying "The clapping was led by the Royal cuties"

We were all part of it. It just started on our street.

£5m of whose money though?

If they gave £5m it wouldn't be enough - you would want £25m or £50m ...

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 14:33

YOU'RE NOT ALONE Kate Middleton and Prince William launch £5m scheme to help UK’s mental health charities during coronavirus lockdown.

@clavinova I've already commented on this. As usual being the 'face' of something (aka a 5 minute PR photoshoot), not parting with their own resources as usual but fronting another taxpayer-paid campaign. Why don't they put their hand in their own pocket? Even Kim K has.

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 14:34

Ifthey gave £5m it wouldn't be enough - you would want £25m or £50m ...

Crap excuse and you know it.

Much more plausible that they just dont want to give away their own cash.

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 14:36

@Clavinova you still havent answered from many, many previous posts:

You STILL havent answered why a young, fit, healthy man with no job or childcare responsibilitieswho allegedly gave up his only useful activity to be in training to be kingcannot do something thattangible helps peopleI this crisis, rather than simply doing 5 minutes of PR asking everyone else to help as usual.

Clavinova · 29/03/2020 15:06

Wolfgirrl
his only useful activity

Arguably his most useful activity is a fundraising magnate for charity. Homeless charity last week, mental health today... I see that William became the charity patron for London Air Ambulance two weeks ago as well, having helped them raise £1m a year ago;

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 15:21

@clavinova

We are just revisiting old ground here.

I say what do they do apart from PR;

You point me back to some PR.

And you still havent answered the question, you've done your usual habit of picking out one part of it then answering a madr up one.

Clavinova · 29/03/2020 15:28

I say what do they do apart from PR

PR is a legitimate career choice you know.

TheSandman · 29/03/2020 15:30

I'm quite quick at it though as you can see - copy and paste and bingo!

Copying and pasting without thinking, digesting, researching your sources, or placing into any kind of context what you are copying and pasting is hardly arguing your corner, no matter how fast you are.

It's just copying and pasting.

A monkey could be trained to do that.

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 15:52

@Clavinova

Why didnt he donate the 1million himself? Dont tell me he cant afford it.

And if you dont think he should have to donate anything; why should anyone else?

Can you justify him hiding in a stately home at the moment while half a million ordinary people with real jobs have volunteered their time and resources?

Particularly interested in the last point.

Clavinova · 29/03/2020 15:53

TheSandman

'When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.'

Socrates apparently.

Escapeistheonlyoption · 29/03/2020 15:56

So William and Kate have pissed off to their 2nd home and allegedly Boris has sent his girlfriend to their 3rd home of Chequers.

1 rule for some it seems!

chomalungma · 29/03/2020 15:57

'When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser

Got a point though

And I notice you have still failed to answer the basic question.

Why hasn't the Queen or Prince Charles done a video speech of hope and support to the nation?

That is their whole point - to be a uniting family / figure for the nation.

If you can't answer that,then you are wasting your time here.

Their silence is deafening.

@clavinova

When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.

Like when you said I want a communist dictatorship?

Can you answer my question? How many times have I asked you now? You just endlessly dodge it because you know theres no answer.

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 16:09

@Clavinova

If you cant answer the question, as to why the queen hasn't as a minimum broadcast a speech, and why william is hiding away despite half a million people with far less resources signing up to help, you basically have no answer and have lost the argument so to speak.

Bringing up irrelevant facts relating to self made millionaires and the irish president do not answer it.

The thread is about what the royals should be doing in a time of national emergency, not whether we need to amend our constitution (although we have dignified you with a discussion on that).

Clavinova · 29/03/2020 16:21

How many times have I asked you now? You just endlessly dodge it because you know there's no answer.

I answered you - I said Prince William's most useful role was arguably raising money for charity. I posted links to public addresses made by William and the Countess of Wessex (who apparently is taking over some of the Queen's roles), Prince Andrew visited the Chinese Embassy, William appealed on behalf of the homeless, William and Kate visited an emergency call centre, and now they are fronting a coronavirus mental health initiative; their children clapped for the NHS - for millions to view across the country.

Clavinova · 29/03/2020 16:23

Bringing up irrelevant facts relating to self made millionaires and the irish president do not answer it.

You raised them first!
Quite clearly the Irish presidency costs a bit more per capita than the royal family.

Clavinova · 29/03/2020 16:26

Perhaps you come from a working class family - not everyone is a manual worker - some people sit at a desks.

Clavinova · 29/03/2020 16:26

a desk

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 16:28

No, I said what are they tangibly doing to help besides PR? Something that involves them using their own resources, not just asking for other peoples money? And I also asked why it is acceptable the future king, who is young fit and healthy, is hiding in a stately home while half a million people with real jobs and far less resources have volunteered to help their fellow countrymen.

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 16:32

@Clavinova

But he isnt sitting at a desk though is he? They had one photo taken at a desk and probably tweeted a few links. That is not a mornings work let alone a full day. Charity 'visits' are not real work. It is watching other people do real work and lasts about 15 minutes. What are they doing that isnt just asking other people to give money

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 16:33

their children clapped for the NHS - for millions to view across the country.

The whole country clapped. Why dont we all get 60 million? Or is it not work when we do it?

Clavinova · 29/03/2020 16:47

Time is money though - have you seen how much David Cameron and Tony Blair charge for an after dinner speech? Rich businessmen were asked to donate £100,000 each to Prince Charles' charitable foundation just to have dinner with him - guess what, they paid.

Wolfgirrl · 29/03/2020 16:50

@clavinova

What part of the concept of 'earning your own money' do you not understand?

Clavinova · 29/03/2020 16:54

What part of the concept of 'earning your own money' do you not understand?

I do understand - why do charities employ fundraising staff? Why do PR companies exist? Why do life coaches exist?

chomalungma · 29/03/2020 17:25

So you haven't answered the question about why the Monarch or the Prince of Wales hasn't done a message to the nation
