What about everyone else?

Loads of clapping up in Edgware!

NeedToKnow101 · 26/03/2020 20:19

Our street in north London all came out (well, everyone in my line of sight). It made me cry.

BlythesEyes · 26/03/2020 20:19

WA6 did us proud ♥️

mindutopia · 26/03/2020 20:20

Amazing. I live in the middle of nowhere, only about 3 neighbours in a mile’s shouting distance (if you were to shout very loud!). Dh and I were busy putting dc to bed and I suddenly heard shouting outside about 15 minutes ago. I thought what the absolute hell is that!! We literally live near no one. But I thought today was Friday so totally forgot until now. All neighbours moody Tory voting farmers. I now have perhaps slightly renewed faith in at least one of them....wish I knew who!

Warmhandscoldheart · 26/03/2020 20:20

Lots of clapping and noise on the East Coast 💖

quasimodo7 · 26/03/2020 20:21

Quite moving actually hearing everyone join in! Let's keep that spirit up, and lets hope that everyone joins in and follows the advice to keep the NHS staff, and us, safe.

Pretty impressed with the fireworks round here, thats really organised!

There's always one, isn't there. Angry

ChicChicChicChiclana · 26/03/2020 20:22

Yes. Felt like my whole street was clapping and cheering in London SE22. As it should be.

SudokuQueen · 26/03/2020 20:22

@puds11

Was thinking the same. Its nice and shows appreciation, but it doesn't benefit them. They are still underpaid, still working in shit conditions, some aren't trained fully for the job they are doing.

Allaboardthemagicbus2020 · 26/03/2020 20:22

@VEGAS2016

I'm glad, Vegas. Hope you are OK and not too exhausted. I come from a big family of nurses.

We had tooting and, for some reason, fireworks. 😂 When I heard the tooting I thought lockin was turning to fisticuffs...then saw the time.

I bet NHS shiftworkers do appreciate the sentiment, but would rather not be woken up.

Sexnotgender · 26/03/2020 20:22

@MrsMozartMkII ooh, hello fellow Fifer!!

Lots of clapping on our street.

species5618 · 26/03/2020 20:23

We went out and clapped, no one else did. Longest 15 seconds ever!

Allaboardthemagicbus2020 · 26/03/2020 20:23

It might also be doing something for the elderly and isolated - letting them know they are not alone.

I was surprised. Mostly older neighbours. I only heard about this today myself. We were clapping indoors then heard noises so went outside and 4 other houses were out ❤ there were fireworks in the distance too

orangina · 26/03/2020 20:24

London W14 plenty of clapping but also a very noisy helicopter overhead which drowned out the whoops and cheers... Sad

Rupertpenrysmistress · 26/03/2020 20:24

As a frontline nurse who is struggling at work at the moment, it was really lovely to see people make this effort, makes me feel better about going to work tomorrow. Thanks to all. Really appreciated.

TechGinny · 26/03/2020 20:24

@puds11 What a sad comment to make. Yes, in an ideal world we'd all be donating PPE to our local hospitals but that just isn't an option for most people. Expressing our gratitude is something we call all do and it's heartening to know that so many people were out clapping and whooping their appreciation.

Incidentally, we've just arranged a donation of gloves, aprons and safety specs and goggles to our nearest hospital, but I know all my colleagues and I were also outside clapping our thanks in our different parts of the city.

HariboLectar · 26/03/2020 20:25

I was worried no one else in our small village would be taking part, but there were lots of cheers and applause. I can't see other houses front doors from our own, but I could certainly hear them.

@puds11

A quick glance down my facebook right know

"Feeling very emotional right now and so proud to be a part of the NHS. Thankyou to the people of Barton, your support is appreciated more than you know."

"Ok that made me kind of emotional! Very nice gesture for all us nhs workers! Proud of us all"

So yeah while they would probably prefer correct PPE, I think this may have boosted their spirits a little.

bellabasset · 26/03/2020 20:25

💞PL24 were out, for the NHS and all those working to support the community.💐

⚰ Sadly one of the deaths was a neighbour.

yummychocolate · 26/03/2020 20:25

Br5 clapped and fireworks too. It made me emotional.

Ownedbypoppycat · 26/03/2020 20:26

Very moving, the whole street was clapping and cheering and cars were hooting

OchAyeThaNoo · 26/03/2020 20:26

A door across the street opened. She just looked out. Probably the same reason I opened my window. Curious to see who was going to clap. No one did. But I'll make up for it by sharing more anti-child abuse posts on FB. I'll also give a few likes on FB to help starving villagers in far off countries. Oh and I'll not forget to share a sad pic of an abused dog even though it says , "I bet no one will share this". I will poor little doggy. I will.

Mrsfrumble · 26/03/2020 20:26

Yes, our corner of Hackney was LOUD! It was brilliant, everyone leaning out of their windows, cheering, whistling and banging sauce pans (!) I confess to having been cynical beforehand, but it was actually moving and a lovely way to remember we’re part of a community, even if we can go near each other for now.

MsPeachh · 26/03/2020 20:27

God that was emotional wasn’t it 😭 so many people coming together. It restores my faith in humanity, we are all just trying to get by as best we can and we all want peace and good health.
