How can anyone look At what is happening around the world and still think it’s okay to go to their holiday rental/get their nails done etc?
I don’t know whether some posters are deliberately obtuse or genuinely don’t understand (not sure how much clearer Boris could have made it tbh) but I’m actually more scared now than I have been previously due to some of the posts on here tonight

We’ve got no hope have we?

OP posts:

We don't know that she had no underlying issues, the press have got it all off facebook and who is to say she hadn't been diagnosed with any...doesn't mean they weren't there.

That makes it okay then Hmm.

TheArchSorcererofContwaraburg · 25/03/2020 20:50

“Sad, but around 1500 people die in the UK every day including some 15 or so children/youngsters. “

So what is your perspective then? Because your post is so callous it's bordering on being quite sick.

Snugglepiggy · 25/03/2020 21:01

Yes people die of other causes every day of the year. How is this for perspective
One of your own loved one gets another life threatening condition.Sepsis.Kidney failure.Brain haemorhage etc.Or needs Cancer treatment. The stuff that our NHS deals with every day.But the ICUs are rammed with CV cases growing by the day.
Cancer treatment gets put in hold. Operations get cancelled. What kind of person can't compute the enormous strain this pandemic is putting on health services across the world? What kind of person can't follow some pretty basic instructions for a few weeks?.Stay at home unless for reasons specified. It could be your family in hospital for any number of reasons and you will want the best treatment and staff that aren't knackered and stressed to care for them.
.

OverUnderSidewaysDown · 25/03/2020 21:15

I think we now have to accept that quite a sizeable proportion of the population have mince for brains.

DdraigGoch · 25/03/2020 21:55

Sad, but around 1500 people die in the UK every day including some 15 or so children/youngsters.
@MarginalGain the point that you have so spectacularly missed is that a young person who was apparently in good health has become a victim. Therefore NO ONE is invulnerable. The idiots going "I can go out because it only kills old people" need to stop being stupid and stay at home.

Eckhart · 25/03/2020 22:09

Just discovered the horse owners can travel as much and many times as they need to to provide adequate care for their horse. If they don't have help, this is usually twice a day.

So, in answer to all those saying 'Which bit of stay at home don't you understand?', it's the unclassified exceptions.

Eckhart · 25/03/2020 22:10

*unclarified

MediocreOmens · 26/03/2020 08:31

A dog is not a horse. A horse is much less likely to live in the grounds of your house. Ergo horse owners need to travel. How is this comparable to having a dog? I am becoming astounded by your apparent lack of common sense.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 26/03/2020 09:18

Oh well, that’s alright then. If she had underlying issues at 21, we don’t need to mourn her

I really don’t understand the need to say such shitty things

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 26/03/2020 09:19

Excellent post snuggle

Eckhart · 26/03/2020 10:08

@MediocreOmens @Lifeisgenerallyfun and anyone else on this thread who has flamed me for not understanding 'Stay at home', with regard to caring for my dog:

Toileting breaks for dogs are not classed as the same thing as long, 'exercise' walks. 2 short walks plus one longer 'exercise walk' (which is owners exercise walk too), is perfectly acceptable, as long as it's close to home, brief, and observing social distancing rules.

Animal essential care is 'essential care'.

According to a police officer I asked outside the station on my morning walk, who went in to check with his superior.

Some of you have been very cruel, and you were wrong, and you were using your opinions to make me feel bad for caring for a much loved animal. Shame on you. It's a good thing your opinions don't matter.

BelleharePenguin09 · 26/03/2020 10:26

Animal essential care is 'essential care'.

Of course it is.

Some of you have been very cruel, and you were wrong, and you were using your opinions to make me feel bad for caring for a much loved animal. Shame on you. It's a good thing your opinions don't matter.

Some posters have too time on their hands and were thoroughly enjoying themselves here at your expense. Nasty.

MediocreOmens · 26/03/2020 11:19

Argh, this is so frustrating. I didn’t at any point say caring for your dog is not essential care but it doesn’t take a genius to work out that in these extraordinary times we have to do the best we can in the situation we have. Yes it would be great if you could walk your dog three times a day but you can’t so instead you need to walk it once and take it outside near your home to toilet two more times, I already said that to you, so no I wasn’t wrong, this is precisely what I said! It’s not rocket science and it’s not in anyway comparable to the care required for a horse which for some reason you brought up. I also can’t believe you wasted a police officers time with this when it’s bloody common sense.

Eckhart · 26/03/2020 11:23

@MediocreOmens ok then, you were right.

Police officer didn't mind in the slightest and was happy to go and check. He was very helpful. If you can't believe I committed the crime of asking a police officer if I was committing a crime... well, you'll just have to not believe it. No probs.

Duchessofblandings · 26/03/2020 11:38

“I really don’t understand the need to say such shitty things”

And I don’t understand why so many people seem to believe that people with underlying health issues somehow don't seem to matter quite so much as healthy people.

She was 21. Does it matter whether she had underlying issues or not? This evil thing killed her and it’s spreading because too many people are still not doing what they should be.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 26/03/2020 11:40

MediocreOmens, a police officer's time is the public's - they are a public servant like many people are. A polite question isn't worthy of a trip to the cells.

I think you, and so many other people cluttering this board up with angst at the moment, are unable to see beyond your own circumstances and experiences. Eckhart has been explaining for three days now and, even if I don't live in her life arrangements, I can understand that they are what she has to deal with.

This bit isn't aimed at you specifically but, follow the rules and limit your own exposure and that of other people. That will reduce the pressure on the NHS and everybody else. Why keep instructing people? It's unnecessary, it really is and it's annoying. At worst, it's destructive because whilst the announcements on the TV and official websites are informative, they generally are polite - and quite short. The ranting on this site isn't informative, it's grating and it's generally rude. Who would want to listen to that? I wouldn't - and don't. I just follow the official rules and don't bother to enquire with this site. People must be absolutely desperate if they post here for advice given how pathetically officious some posters have become (or always were?). Delores Umbridge may still be recruiting though...

Eckhart · 26/03/2020 11:52

Well said @thelyingwitchinthewardrobe.

I posted initially with the hope that someone would share a link to a page similar to the one on the British Horse Society's website, who have clearly had government notification of what is required of horse owners. I wanted to know that I wouldn't be fined if the police saw me outside my house morning, noon, and night.

Did NOT expect the, er, 'lack of helpfulness' from this thread!

billysboy · 26/03/2020 11:56

One woman I know with a horse boxed it up and went for a hack around Windsor Park about 45 mins away , she couldnt see what all the fuss is about

BelleharePenguin09 · 26/03/2020 11:59

@MediocreOmens

I also can’t believe you wasted a police officers time with this when it’s bloody common sense.

I doubt the police officer would mind. You are looking for things at the bottom of the barrel now.🙄

Eckhart · 26/03/2020 11:59

They're being strongly advised not to ride, due to the risk of injury, and the additional pressure placed on the NHS this causes.

BelleharePenguin09 · 26/03/2020 12:01

And yes, we do not require to be “instructed” by members of the general public. Back off.

BelleharePenguin09 · 26/03/2020 12:02

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe

I concur.

Eckhart · 26/03/2020 12:04

You are looking for things at the bottom of the barrel now

The intention becomes clearer at this stage.

BelleharePenguin09 · 26/03/2020 12:10

Hmmmmmmmmm

BelleharePenguin09 · 26/03/2020 12:10

To clarify: it does indeed.
