To even consider staying in a holiday cottage?

This might sound stupid but I have a private cottage booked in the North Yorkshire Moors. Were supposed to be going next weekend. Is there anyway we would still be able to go? It would basically be my family going in our car and effectively moving into another house. We would exercise by doing a walk in the moors so plenty big enough area to practice social distancing. The rest of the time would be in the house but it's better than mine and a change of scenery also!

No you cannot go.

Jelly0naplate · 23/03/2020 22:37

What part of STAY HOME are you struggling with?!

Frozenfan2019 · 23/03/2020 22:37

No sorry you really can't go. He's just prohibited it. In theory you could be arrested. It is definitely non essential travel and the people who let you the property would be in trouble too. I expect you will hear from them soon.

Bouledeneige · 23/03/2020 22:37

Lockdown for 3 weeks initially. You wont be able to go there will you? Unless you are already there and can afford to be there for 3 months!

44PumpLane · 23/03/2020 22:37

FFS... Given you've written that paragraph I assume you can read and should therefore be able to access Boris' latest guidance regarding where we are with Covid.

We are effectively on lockdown.

Don't be so ridiculous!!!! You do not go to a holiday cottage!!!

AnyFucker · 23/03/2020 22:38

Christ on a bike NO

MillicentMargaretAmanda · 23/03/2020 22:38

No. We are not to leave our houses other than to get essential food and medicine, and then as infrequently as possible, and one outing to exercise a day. Trying not to be rude, but what part of 'lets go to a holiday cottage in a remote rural area (with remote rural infrastructure)'is compatible with a lockdown?

Gazelda · 23/03/2020 22:39

No. You can travel to and from work, but only for essential roles.
You can shop for essentials, infrequently.
You can travel to medical appointments
You can travel to care for or help a vulnerable person.
You can exercise daily.

You must not leave your home for any other reason.

Bluewavescrashing · 23/03/2020 22:40

Yabu

STAY AT HOME AND SAVE LIVES

Lougle · 23/03/2020 22:40

No. You can't go. You stay in your home as a household.

Kingcole · 23/03/2020 22:41

Grow up!!!

Splitsunrise · 23/03/2020 22:42

No they have ordered all hotels, b&bs etc to close. Read the guidance and don’t be selfish.

Shallow07 · 23/03/2020 22:42
Hmm
LambriniSocialist · 23/03/2020 22:42

This might sound stupid

You can say that again!

You. Need. To. Stay. At. Home.

FaithInfinity · 23/03/2020 22:43

Think it through...If you go someone would have to clean it before and after. You could be picking up virus from them, or leaving it for someone else to pick up. Stay at home!!!!

wheretoyougonow · 23/03/2020 22:43

Of course you can go. I distinctly heard Boris state the rules of a lockdown apply to everyone but Dreaming69. And we wonder why we have to get police powers to enforce this. Hmm

fessmess · 23/03/2020 22:43

No. Stay at home.

willloman · 23/03/2020 22:44

Ask them to shift it to Next Year, this one is cancelled.
PANDEMIC not Holiday.

FairyBunnyAgain · 23/03/2020 22:44

No No NO!

Redglitter · 23/03/2020 22:44

Some of the threads in here tonight are incredible. So many people looking for loopholes & exceptions.

The country is in a bloody lockdown. You have to stay home unless its essential. It's not hard to understand - or so I thought til i came on here

Zombiemum1946 · 23/03/2020 22:44

If one of you get sick, you'd be in an area with limited resources and supplies, most likely a fair distance from acute services. Everyone is on standby for the kick off in each area. Don't add to the problem.

PenguinBlizzard · 23/03/2020 22:45

Are we going to have to weld people in here?!

Dreaming69 · 23/03/2020 22:45

Will the owner have to refund then now? Is it really so high risk to drive my family in my own car? We wouldn't have to come into contact with anyone else would we?

No
The other point that was previously made is that you could be symptomless carriers at the moment and a few days into your cosy little holiday you develop full blown symptoms requiring hospitalisation.

There could be say only one local hospital with a handful of ventilators. They need them for locals but you’ll expect to skip the queue? Hardly fair.

No, you need to stay at home near the gp you are registered with. Sorry but it’s the same rules for all of us.
