For the past few years the rainbow has sadly becomea symbol of silencing, sexual stereotyping and oppression for a lot of women and those in the LGB community. If you're thinking of putting one up, please think about how that may make women feel - many of whom have already experienced death threats and lost their friends and jobs thanks to those who wield the rainbow flag as a weapon.

I just saw two on my walk just now and it made me feel like shit. Not the intended effect I'm sure. Please consider something else: the sun coming out from a cloud, or a simple landscape. Thanks.

Are you fucking shitting me.

Rainbow Bridge - the belief that when animals die that's what they cross

Rainbow babies - babies born after the loss of a sibling

Rainbow after a storm- people going through shit and then coming out the other side

All other uses of rainbows.

Are you a professionally offended person?

Andahelterskelterroundmylittle · 23/03/2020 16:41

I just saw two on my walk just now and it made me feel like shit.

Jesus wept...get the f7ck over yourself

NigellasGuest · 23/03/2020 16:42

Go away rainbow hater!!

Baxdream · 23/03/2020 16:43

Seriously...!!!! Get a life

Strongmummy · 23/03/2020 16:44

@RuffleCrow you’re either trying to be goady or you are a narcissist. Everyone on this thread is disagreeing with you and so maybe step away from the keyboard so you don’t get even more upset

lamppostdog · 23/03/2020 16:46

Didn't Jane marry both Rod and Freddie ??

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 23/03/2020 16:48

@SapphosRock
Thank you, a much more concise explanation than the ones I have waded through.
@WotchaTalkin About Willis
This is very sad, I know I am oldfashioned but so much hate is whipped up by social media, I am from the generation that was delighted that homosexuality was decriminalised and gay marriage and child adoption was something to celebrate. I do get the trans women in womens sport debate but as for the rest........
Since the 60s we thought all was getting better, no more homes for unmarried pregnancies , closet gays etc, did we have to invent a new hate arena?

Curiositykilledthecat113 · 23/03/2020 16:48

@rufflecrow You’re trying so hard to be a victim of something and you’ve come on here looking for a fight, you’re absolutely deluded. Have you got nothing better to do than be this pathetic?

nomdefuckit · 23/03/2020 16:49

I think we should put all the GC people and all the TRA's in a sports hall.

Can't come out till they're friends

PoopyPanda · 23/03/2020 16:55

Didn't Jane marry both Rod and Freddie ??

Yes! Not at the same time, though. Grin

PleaseStopCrying · 23/03/2020 16:55

OP still doesn't realise that she's effectively giving in to the rainbow meaning as she sees it.
Surely if that minority use of it offends you so much, you'd be really happy about it being reclaimed, and be encouraging this opportunity to do so. I really don't get it.

I made exactly the same point earlier but like your post mine was also conviently ignored by the OP. Hmm

happytobeheresparkl · 23/03/2020 16:56

Get a grip this is to make kids happy

BlueCheeseNoWay · 23/03/2020 16:58

JRUIN · 23/03/2020 16:58

I bet the pensioner's who can't get hold of anything to feed themselves or wipe their arses with wish all they had to be worried about was a poxy rainbow in someone's window. You seriously need to get over yourself OP.

rottiemum88 · 23/03/2020 16:59

Please consider something else: the sun coming out from a cloud, or a simple landscape. Thanks.

Er, no I'll be sticking with the rainbow. Thanks

MargotB7 · 23/03/2020 16:59

I love a rainbow.

Nancydrawn · 23/03/2020 17:00

I'm still stuck on the part where the OP is worried that it will "advertise" that she has small children in the house.

This is not part of a sinister agenda. They are not trying to get you.

ColourMeExhausted · 23/03/2020 17:00

This thread reminds me...tomorrow's activity will be drawing rainbows and sticking them up in our front window, thanks OP!

Spudlet · 23/03/2020 17:02

I mean, the back garden full of toys, the windmill attached to the back fence, the toys lined up in the front windowsill and the massive great car seat in the car are probably fairly good signals that we have a smallish child anyway 🙄

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 23/03/2020 17:03

Personally I think it's about time the rainbow stopped being a political statement. I hope all the kids put them up to cheer people along at the moment (and no I'm not anything phobic - but as has been already said, LGBT don't own the rainbow)

SeptemberWeddingIHope · 23/03/2020 17:05

I don't have small children so I'm going to make my own rainbow and put in the window

BanKittenHeels · 23/03/2020 17:06

How does a rainbow in the sky make you feel? I’m GC and a member of the LGB community and children putting rainbows in their window has nothing to do with TRAs.

Lordfrontpaw · 23/03/2020 17:07

They don’t own the rainbow.

CoronaIsComing · 23/03/2020 17:09

So the whole country should take down their rainbows because one woman is offended?

A rainbow is a natural phenomenon ffs it’s not a symbol of anything. It’s just nice!

Amanduh · 23/03/2020 17:09

Er. No.
