Why are MN still moving CV threads?

NellyGrace · 22/03/2020 09:16

This is something that affects us all now. Not just an annoyance.

Supposedly we are in this altogether.

Why is Mumsnet still moving Coronavirus threads to health?

We all need to be aware. It is irresponsible of MN to be hiding these conversations away.

OP posts:
SeptemberWeddingIHope · 22/03/2020 23:00

The conversations are not being hidden away there are 15 corona virus threads showing in active at present

Abracad · 22/03/2020 23:02

Because some people want to get proper news from reputable sources rather than Mumsnetters spreading misinformation. Or banging on about why the rules don’t apply to them because they want their hair to look pretty for lockdown or some shit. If I read any more of these threads I will LOSE MY
MIND

SeptemberWeddingIHope · 22/03/2020 23:14

The hysteria is also infectious

misskick · 22/03/2020 23:15

Because people are sick of reading about it on every single thread. I personally dont think it is good for peoples mental health seeing as the majority of the threads are all negative. We dont seem to see how many people have recovered etc just all negative.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/03/2020 23:35

I am taking it seriously. but I want facts not made up hysteria

Looking at the voting, it seems most may feel the same way ...

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 23/03/2020 00:06

So am I, and same. Seriously the amount of made up shit and scaremongering isn't at all healthy.

FrippEnos · 23/03/2020 07:17

@JustInCaseCakeHappens

You are making a huge leap from keep it in its own thread to ignore it and being selfish.

Insideimsprinting · 23/03/2020 07:51

Thing is, they created a separate area, folk became aware. Folk still posted here. They start moving threads but folk keep posting here. Mnhq is now full of heads in brick walls, they've given up.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 23/03/2020 08:52

Fucked off with all the selfish idiots on threads like that who are bored with CV.

Who says we are bored with CV?
We are bored with posters who think they are the fucking world experts on it and want to forcefeed us their opinions when we already know the facts.

Stop playing the wounded hero about it.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 23/03/2020 09:15

Yup.

I love MN but it really isn't the place people should be coming too for their facts and information.

Hingeandbracket · 23/03/2020 09:19

^This - exactly

MinnieMountain · 23/03/2020 09:23

@JustInCaseCakeHappens it's perfectly possible to be following advice and still be fed up of Mumsnet being about nothing but the blasted virus you know. We've been self-isolating since 15th March as DS started coughing.

I'm sorry you're having such a shit time but you're by no means the only one.

Who made you head of Mumsnet?

AlternativePerspective · 23/03/2020 09:41

I see From advance search the above named poster has only had that name since the end of February and has form for being offensive and being called on it so I would suggest that either they are too gutless to put their bile to their actual regular username or they have joined to troll here and be offensive.

SeptemberWeddingIHope · 23/03/2020 09:47

Also bored with self appointed armchair experts spouting hysterical bullshit when they haven't got a clue, also bored of the prophets of doom and gloom who go on to others about how they will die not thinking it also applies to themselves, there's so no need to carry on about not getting a hospital bed etc etc ad infinitum because we know as we can also read !

We just need to read verified facts preferably listed in bullshitless bullet points so we can read the info given to us and act upon it, therefore no need for all the scaremongering

ChicChicChicChiclana · 23/03/2020 11:10

In the same deliberately obtuse way some people think the advice on social isolation doesn't apply to them, a number of ignorant or very determined posters seem to think the consensus that coronavirus threads should belong in one dedicated area of Mumsnet also doesn't apply to them or their thread. It's the not listening aspect of this that I can't get my head round. That and the frankly stupid assertion I've seen more than once that moving threads to the correct topic is somehow sweeping them under the carpet. Confused.

Sparklingbrook · 23/03/2020 11:36

Yes, I have never understood that.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/03/2020 12:29

"We all need to be aware. It is irresponsible of MN to be hiding these conversations away."

Once again - these threads are not being 'hidden' - Corona virus is a massive group of threads on MN - if you look at the 'Last Hour' section, corona virus threads are the single biggest subject group, by a massive margin.

Hiding them away would be putting them in some obscure topic which no-one ever looks at.

Sparklingbrook · 23/03/2020 12:49

Some of the threads deserve to be hidden away forever TBF, but the CV topic unless you choose to hide it is the biggest topic on here at the moment.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 23/03/2020 12:58

Because some of us would actually like to read a few light hearted threads as well, that doesn’t mean I don’t follow the cv news but I’d rather follow you know actual news sources that the madness on here...I can’t tell you the number of threads I’ve read telling me the country is going in to lockdown as the posters dog walker sister know Boris and he told her...yeah that happened...following night same lock down thread...didn’t happen that day either.

talking about ration books... what people think should be done 🙄....people moaning about too many people in the park when they were, why aren’t they social distancing because the poster was weren’t they 🤦‍♀️

People on here talk such bullshit, everyone seems to be an armchair expert. Best avoided

Sparklingbrook · 23/03/2020 13:00

If you aren't reading every single CV thread and devouring every bit of information in them true or false then you are in denial. Apparently.

BelleharePenguin09 · 23/03/2020 13:02

They are quite right to move them. Enough ya enough. We have to follow government advice. It’s as simple as that.

BelleharePenguin09 · 23/03/2020 13:02

...is enough

BelleharePenguin09 · 23/03/2020 13:03

Just get on with your life. Be responsible. Stop obsessing.

How hard can it be?

ChicChicChicChiclana · 23/03/2020 19:31

As of a couple of minutes ago, 20 out of 50 threads on Active Conversations are about CV. Probably more but I haven't clicked on them so can't tell from the thread titles.

HQ obviously can't cope with the volume and moving them as appropriate. I honestly don't know what to suggest! I guess I have to leave Mumsnet for the time being because I can't tolerate the way it deals with this issue.

Shame as I'm home all the time and could do with some distraction.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 23/03/2020 20:20

Top on Trending right now is a post with a URL that ends "-we-aren-t-going-to-lockdown-stop-scaremongering"

Apparently the cv topic is starting to eat itself...
