To think Richard Marx was the killer in “Hazard”

Inspired by another thread about music videos.
The song Hazard by Richard Marx and it’s music video. Been watching it again after many years and I used to think it was the boyfriend that killed Mary but now I think it could have been Richard Marxs Character

I always believed Richard Marx BUT I’ve only ever listened to it - never seen the video. Off to find the video (or videos?) now!

• The day Billy-Joe McAlistair jumped off the Tallahassee Bridge, was he pushed?

• Did Bob Marley shoot the sheriff and/or the deputy?

• Should Freddy Mercury's mum have phoned the police when he confessed?

The two versions...

One, Mary as Mary Magdalene
Second, Mary as Virgin.

In both cases, the sheriff did it.
RM saw them, ran off, leaving his scarf. In that version, Mary was ( ahem) enjoying the attention.
Sheriff needed damage control so killed Mary with RM's scarf.

Or Mary was a feminist. RM identified as a woman, but Mary saw the man inside.

Billy Joe MacAllister ( tuts) now that was a tragedy. What a life he would have had.

I always thought 'the boy doth protest too much' so interesting RM himself said he did it at a gig. I can just imagine that poster's DH going 'Yes! Told you so!' in the middle of the gig 😂

I've never seen the videos, but just from the lyrics I always thought that Richard was probably autistic but Mary was nice to him.

Mary didn't die, she just went off to the big city to escape from her boring small-town-america life, she's probably either a high-flying lawyer or a happy grandma by now. Maybe both.

The sheriff was a disablist pig who picked on Richard because he (Richard) was different, and because he (the sheriff) was too lazy to solve a missing person case.

Mary is troubled. She sees another troubled sole in Richard. They are great friends but Mary is just not in love with him. When he catches her with a random she realises she has lost him as a friend, her only friend. She feels alone and her depression returns. Mary takes her life with his scarf as she tries to keep him close in her last act.

Hazard was the setting of the Richard Marx song "Hazard".[10] Marx arrived at the name because he liked the lyric "this old Nebraska town." He wrote to Nebraska Chamber of Commerce, asking for a list of Nebraska towns with two syllables and found Hazard ideal for its double meaning. (The lyrics refer to a river, which the real Hazard does not possess; however, there is a muddy creek.)

Although the song didn't cast the town in a positive light, the locals invited Marx to be Grand Marshal at Sherman County's Fourth of July parade in 1993, an invite that the singer accepted.

He definitely did it. He spends the whole song lamenting how Mary's death will be bad for him, and what people will think, and what they've always thought. It's all about him. Total narc. He never thinks about poor Mary, or poor Mary's mum. Total wrong'un.

I've just watched all three videos. Two and three don't seem any different to me and I'm still confused as to who actually did it but my money would be on the sheriff.

Hazard is my ALLTIME favorite song! LOve it.

RM is my all time fave 'solo' artist. Loved him since his very 1st single 'Don't mean nothing'.

As for the video..... Yep, I'm wondering about the fire in the house too, always have.

I always thought it was him till some of you are saying it's the sherriff. Must watch it again (Any excuse!)

I'm assuming RM in the video has some kind of Special needs, I always thought that and that's maybe why the sherrif saw him as an easy target.

Marx did it. He killed his mum and her lover and killed his crush when he thought she was about to get jiggy with someone besides himself.
